What of GZ pursuing TM from behind? GZ admitted to this while on phone with 911 or whoever he called. That won't change. GZ was the initial aggressor.

Is it a fact that he kept on pursuing him after being told not too?

Again, since no one KNOWS for sure exactly what Trayvon was doing that night, just what his parents (neither of whom were anywhere near him that night) have said he was doing. For all "we" know Trayvon could have been peering in windows, ducking behind bushes when he saw Zimmerman looking at him, etc which could have been why Zimmerman thought he looked suspicious.

Ahhh but GZ claimed he was walking in the street...not peering into any windows...

But if it were self defense???
I mean it is tue TM can not tell his side of the story.

But if the evidence shows self defense, then what?

Will it ever be believed? Or will GZ always be the "racist murderer"?

If GZ shot Trayvon in self defense, then he is not guilty under the law. But if the reason Trayvon attacked him was because he was in fear for his own safety, GZ would still have been the one to instigate the entire situation.

Even if he was suspicious of Trayvon, and honestly believed him to be a patrolling the neighborhood for an opportunity to break in somewhere, if he had simply waited for police to arrive instead of getting out of his vehicle there would have been no shooting.

I understand that, assuming GZ is entirely sincere in his concerns about the safety of the neighborhood (and I have no reason to assume otherwise), he was worried that if he didn't follow, the "" would be gone before police could arrive. He would be another one that "got away", and he wanted to make sure that didn't happen. But it doesn't work that way in our justice system. You can't hunt down people because you think they might be burglars.

My personal opinion is that GZ was setting up the self-defense scenario from the beginning by the comments he made to police. One reason I say this is that I have been in on multiple conversations in which people have discussed how to handle situations in such a way as to get off on self-defense. People say to each other, in an instructive way, that if the guy is dead then it's your word against his and you can claim self-defense, and they talk about things to say to police to bolster that claim. I am telling you what I have heard with my own ears, from more than one person. (To be clear, they are talking about killing would-be burglars or robbers, not just killing people straight out.)

All this fighting and wrestling on the ground and struggling over a weapon that GZ says happened, yet those damn skittles and that tea stayed in Tray's pocket. Imagine that.

I find it funny how out of all the lawyers in central florida this family could have, they just so happen to take one who is involved with civil rights.

I'm thinking this is all one big hoax, like the duke lacrosse scandal.

And if GZ attacked TM and TM was succesfully defending himself??? We are going to give attackers the ability to shoot you and claim self defense? Poor DV, rape, and pedo victims everywhere.

BBM - I agree. But an investigation is what had to be, has to be, and will be.
BEFORE people start screaming "Shot in cold blood"

A hoax??!! A child is dead and its a hoax?

I'm trying unsuccessfully to pick my jaw up off the floor. Do people really think this is a hoax?

EXACTLY and who was in the forefront of that fiasco.. none other than Al Sharpton as usual.

A hoax? With a dead teenager?

No, not the fact that he's dead but the whole 'innocent 17 year old kid shot for no reason other than wearing a hoodie, being black, and walking back home from a store carrying nothing more than skittles and iced tea'

That we've been hearing about for the last month.

It cannnot be THAT cut and dry.

Miami Gardens teenager Trayvon Martin was on the phone up until the moments before he was killed, cellular records show, and the girl he was talking to says she could hear him when the teen asked a stranger: “Why are you following me?”

First she heard, “What are you doing here?” and then a push and an altercation just before the line went dead, the attorney for the dead teen’s family said.

“I called him again and he didn’t answer the phone,” the girl said.
A recording of the girl’s account of Trayvon’s last moments were among several major developments Tuesday in the investigation into the killing of the teen by a neighborhood watch volunteer in Sanford. Seminole County State Attorney Norm Wolfinger announced he would convene a grand jury next month to probe the case, which is now being reviewed by the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division, the FBI and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

After the shooting, Zimmerman told police the young man came at him from behind and attacked him and he fired in self-defense. He was not charged, triggering national outrage and an online petition that drew more than 600,000 signatures.

On the recording of his call to police that is posted on the city’s website, Zimmerman can be heard breathing heavily as he pursued Trayvon through the complex. Then, about two minutes into the call, under his breath, he used a profanity and a second word that sounded like a racial slur, but it was nearly inaudible and difficult to decipher

BBM...GZ's account doesn't coincide with what that girl heard..I do hope they find out the truth...

I posted a video from ACooper and what they heard in that recording..It's real clear in that video and sure sounds like he did say a racial slur..

The witch hunt sure is. just like the duke lacrosse scandal.

the fact that a child is dead may be wrongful death...
but the witch hunt is just that and you can call it whatever you like.

Just realized there is yet another thread- what I will say has no doubt been said at some point by someone else but I wanted to get my two cents' in.

Zimmerman's father is not helping his son or helping to calm this situation. He made the ridiculous claim that he didn't believe there was a cell phone discussion with Martin's gf, although it has been well documented. He just takes at face value what his son tells him and then has the gall to blame Obama for promoting 'hate' against his son. Huh??

Methinks the apple didn't fall far from the tree on this one.

There are phone records it was a silly thing to say IMHO:moo:

Martin Family Lawyer Known for Civil Rights Cases

Snipped:

When Benjamin Crump got his first call from Trayvon Martin's father last month, the attorney counseled patience.

It had only been two days since a neighborhood watch volunteer had fatally shot the 17-year-old, and surely an arrest was imminent, thought Crump, who has pursued several civil rights cases against law enforcement agencies.

Also snipped:

But thanks largely to Crump's efforts, the case has stirred marches and rallies around the nation, merited comment from President Barack Obama, led to the resignation of the Sanford police chief and brought scrutiny from the U.S. Department of Justice into this Orlando suburb of 55,000 residents.

* BBM -
My question, how did TM's father know he would need an attorney that has experience with cases against law enforcement 2 days after the shooting?
Was this a "the cops don't care" case from day 2, before the cops had a chance to investigate?
I don't know, that just seems odd to me.

And also, having a "civil rights" attorney so soon may have turned this into a "racial" case right off the bat. If the attorney's efforts got all the marches and protests going, was this a preplanned "national" civil rights case from the get go?

I'm not saying they do not have the right to an attorney, it just seems like from very early, they were determined to MAKE this a racial, civil rights deal from the start.

A more interesting question, IMO, is why did the family feel they needed a civil rights attorney? Hmmm...

All this fighting and wrestling on the ground and struggling over a weapon that GZ says happened, yet those damn skittles and that tea stayed in Tray's pocket. Imagine that.

There are a number of witnesses that saw them on the ground fighting so to argue otherwise really doesn't make sense. Several witnesses with no agenda on 911 calls describe them as "wrestling." So clearly there was a scuffle.

I'm betting that Duke lacrosse is one of the reasons they are taking their time with this one in terms of arrests being made. Everyone was clamoring for those boys to be arrested, protests, etc. The DA caved in to the protests.

They don't want to do the same thing here. They want to make sure they have a case.

????? could you elaborate? IIRC the Duke Lacrosse scandal involved a false allegation of rape.

I am pretty sure Trayvon Martin is really dead, shot by George Zimmerman. How does this qualify as a hoax?
