Oh wow, Jbar. Thank you so much for that information. Very interesting.

Is that common? Do attorneys most often send a response one way or the other? Or a 'counter offer'? Or is it common practice to send no response at all?

Where could I look for this information? I have no idea where even to start Googling.

Thank you,

BeanE

I have no doubt the defense has a lot of strategies, but I think you can't read too much into their not accepting the offer by the deadline instead of making a public statement of "we reject it." For all we know, JB will send a confidential letter to the prosecution about it at some point. Or later, as the situation changes, he might ask for greater immunity again.

So she didn't accept the deal. No surprise for anyone.
I am glad, she deserves no immunity. Hopefully nobody will post the bond this time to secure her release. Wishing she will be spending many years in jail, and will be released only then when she is too old to have more children. HAH.

Yes I agree with you there , but also don't think she should be doing interviews in that state . Her first pryority should have always been Caylee , nobody is saying she should turn her back on Casey . But she can not continue to deny Caylee is no longer living .

She needs to focus on bringing Caylee back for a proper burial , playing along with their daughters delusional lies is not helping Caylee or Casey for that matter .

I'm with you! I really think the Anthony's need to get a REAL spokesperson, like Kim Peterson did for Sharon Rocha, and the Anthony's need to shut up. They need to hunker down, regroup and realize the truth. I think the general public would be a bit more supportive of George and Cindy if they could just admit that Casey is BAD, and that their granddaughter is gone!
I can kind of understand the lack of response of people showing up for searches, because Cindy is so adamant that Caylee is alive and they should be looking for her to be alive.
I admit, I dont have a lot of sympathy for anyone in that family, until they face the truth that Casey is responsible for Caylee being gone, they are going to be treated like pariahs.....
What a horrible situation, I cant fathom ever being so, well, I dont even know the word for it!

By accepting the limited immunity deal she would be admitting that she has been lying all along. She and her attorney would rather take the chance that it can not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt that she did not give the child to Zanny. I think they are taking a big chance.

Kim Peterson was a class act all the way. This guy? *shudder* I saw him the first night he showed up and was laughing to myself thinking that no one is offering to speak for them and they are desperate. It shows in this choice. Although, she should take advantage of HAVING a spokesperson and let him do his job.....however badly. OR she should just let him go but that won't happen because she has at least someone publicly believing her "truths"

I can see the Anthony's crying to the media "see there you go again...she didn't reject the offer, Jose just didn't respond"

:banghead:

I don't have the documents open right now, but I think it might be referring to A. saying that once Caylee was asleep, she wouldn't wake up for anything, even with a party going on right around her. She said something about how once Caylee woke up for about a minute and then her eyes just went back in her head and she fell right back to sleep. Kind of made me wonder if she was being "medicated" so that she'd sleep when her mom wanted her to sleep.

Thats what I have always thought, that Zanny the Nanny was actually Casey giving Caylee Xanax and then leaving her in the car, or wherever to sleep....I really think thats what happened to Caylee, Casey gave her xanax, left her in the car (trunk?) and probably started partying and forgot about Caylee, until it was too late and Caylee had already passed away, then Casey went into psychotic overload.....

I'm not speaking for all lawyers, especially in the criminal context. Lawyers do like to write things down. I don't know that JB hasn't sent any communication to the prosecution in regard to the offer. Lawyers often exchange offers, counter offers, etc. Here, we think JB wanted and asked for broader immunity; the state offered this limited use immunity instead and put a deadline on acceptance; before the deadline passed, JB asked for and got an extension; and does not appear to have accepted by the deadline. It isn't the usual practice maybe, but it isn't some unheard of thing to let an offer lapse without accepting. That's a pretty clear answer. Maybe JB was afraid his response or any counter offer for greater immunity or other terms might not stay confidential and could be too revealing of A/C information. I have no idea, really. If more serious charges are filed, as time goes on, I guess the defense could always ask again for immunity. It doesn't mean they'd get it, but they could try.

I've been wavering back and forth whether it was an accident or deliberate. By Casey not going along with parital immunity, my mind is now set on this was no accident. I really wish the media would also stop giving Cindy a platform for her spin, give this time to another family of a missing loved one, to get their message out.

I AGREE!!!

Thank you for the update. Baez was stupid for not working with the State, on this. His client will fry.:)

I think Baez is going for accidental death, insanity on this one. Good luck.

Baez was not stupid... He could not accept the immunity without his client's permission. If Casey said no, then no it is. He probably never responded to the State because he was hoping Casey would accept the deal. Remember it was Baez that asked for immunity in the first place. The attorney cannot MAKE their client do something they do not want to do. This all rests on Casey.

Wow, Cindy should not be talking in front of the nation. She sounds very drugged.

What is the role of this supposed "family spokesperson" again? He adds nothing....

Yeah, Cindy still does all the talking. Why have a spokesperson if they don't speak for you? But, like Casey, Cindy's a talker and apparently whatever the situation--beloved grand daughter missing, probably dead, daughter in jail, probably the murderer, delusional, drugged, making people who hear her more annoyed with every word she speaks, she just HAS to keep talkin'. She can't stop. Someone who loves her, her family, a friend has got to get her to shut up. She is not doing herself, her family or Caylee any good.

Either that or she gave Caylee Xanax so she'd go down for a nap and she could have some downtime. Then when she finally went to check on her/wake her, found that she couldn't rouse her. Thus, the flurry of phone calls to Cindy ("what do I do? She won't wake up?") Can't call 911, she'd be found out. Mom's not answering and Caylee dies. Then she panics and has to come up with some crazy story about what really happened to her.

I think it was Jose's strategy, honestly.

My theory: Casey rejected the offer - Baez knew that looked bad on her part, so he just let it expire.

Yeah, that guy gave me the willies, lol.....but if Cindy would just take advantage of people out there who DO want to help, she would be so much better off. Cindy's "control freak" is showing, IMO. But it's also showing that she is about to crack and have a breakdown, which isnt going to help anyone.
If she would have taken advantage of Eqqusearch when this began, people were BEGGING her to call them, and she wouldnt!! Now it all just seems too little too late. I have faith that Eqqusearch will find Caylee's body, and it just sickens me that Caylee's mom has sat back and impeded EVERYONE from finding that little girl!

Ahhh, a kindred spirit that agrees with my harebrained theory! LOL....I think we are onto something with the zanax though!

You know, last night on Nancy Grace, she referenced that JB doesn't even respond to the state, he just ignores completely. I agree that something is being "calculated" to the fullest in regards to "bad representation". Is JB such a snake that he knows they are sunk already and he would actually play "the incompetent attorney" role? I mean, that reeks of the lowest character of lawyer that there can be. So on appeal, some really big guns come in to defend her, probably with JB still sitting at the table, kind of like Robert Kardashian when knew he had to get help for O.J. Simpson by bringing in Johnnie Cochran Jr., Robert Shapiro Barry Scheck, and F. Lee Bailey. Barry Scheck...wow!...procedural errors and DNA specialists. We've come a long way since 1994 and THAT trial. However, if she were to be acquitted because of procedural errors or inconclusive DNA results on any level, we all know what the outcome would be. I know there are some really big names who would take this case to make their names bigger... a whole new generation of Schecks...and the money wouldn't matter, neither would the hate mail for them taking Casey's case. Publicity is what would matter and book deals, movies, interviews. That's enough to make me want to hurl my breakfast. She may be completely guilty in the eyes of the public but it only counts when it comes down to the "12" sitting in that jury box and reasonable doubt. Some things never change.

IMO: letting it expire and denying it are the same thing. for me there is no clarification needed.

I wouldn't doubt it.... but could you elaborate?

I don't think Casey had any intention of taking the deal EVER, but I think that the lack of communication is going to prove different down the road.
Baez is sneaky. For instance, his inconsistancies the night that Casey was rearrested. That alone goes to show his character, he has no problem lying flat out to the media if it serves his clients purpose.
