i dont get how any lawyer can sit at home, watch this case and say 'oh my god, that poor girl, she needs me to come help her......for nothing.'

This guy can likely afford to do the pro bono. All Florida attorneys usually do "some" pro bono work. Cheney Mason is so well-known that it is not like an attention grab here. He's old school and I don't know of anyone who dislikes him. Now, if he's allowed to take the driver's seat, we will be able to watch a really compelling trial with a level playing field. It's only fair.

“You do not come any larger than J Cheney Mason,” WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said.

Mason is one of the top defense attorney's in the country. He has tried 50 murder cases successfully and is a part of a number of anti-death penalty organizations.

It could mean there will be more changes. Mason is death penalty qualified. That could mean Andrea Lyon is no longer necessary on the defense team.

"J Cheney Mason absolutely believes he can win this case. I would liken this case to the OJ Simpson case," Sheaffer said.

I knew I had heard his name before:
