The one thing I don't get at all is that fossil expert. Wait a minute, we're not talking about dinosaur bones, and wasn't the defense saying she was put there much later? I don't see how fossilization plays a role in this case at all. It seems like the defense is now contradicting themselves, unless I'm misunderstanding the fossil expert (I forget the scientific name). Can anyone elaborate on what such an expert could testify to in this case?

I googled it just like Mr. Baez instructed the prosecution. ;) Below is a link to my earlier Wikipedia findings.

I commented on KC when the live feed started - it looked like she was crying to me. She was wiping her eyes and it looked like her mascara was running. I keep wondering why or was I seeing things? IF she was crying - could it be because she saw that C & G were not in the courtroom? But if that was it - why would she be crying about that?

One other thing that jumped out at me was the comment by CecyBeans upthread. She said that IF JB has the dog expert trash the abilities of cadaver dogs wouldn't that work against them when they state that Caylee could not have been there in August, September because dogs didn't hit? They can't have it both ways - I love it!!! I can't wait until someone points that out to them - like the State during the trial or pre trial hearing that JB expects to have about the cadaver dog evidence!!!

This is what I love about Judge Perry, he sees 50 steps down the road and is all over Baez like white on rice.

FYI-- just for fun, truTv is re-airing the portion of Baez's testimony when questioned by SA about the ABC deal. I don't usually like reruns, but I love this one. :D

But they can't argue insanity because she has been declared sane to stand trial. I can't even see them arguing a "fugue state" although I suppose they could try.

I'm wondering if it is a special sex abuse expert or something like that. It might explain not wanting to bring it up in court.

Hadn't thought about that. Very interesting!!!

I've been pondering this, too. At first, I figured maybe they had something else going on and could not attend for whatever reason.

However, after the motion the defense made asking that the Court grant KC's right to waive attending hearings, I started giving it more thought. I wonder if Casey didn't request that they not come to any more hearings. :waitasec:

If you think about it, the last hearing was the first one since the letters were exposed accusing GA & LA of sexual abuse. I don't think Casey is doing very well. Seriously. I think she is at her wits end with all of her lies being exposed for the world to witness first hand. I get the feeling that she doesn't want to come to the hearings OR see her family. It makes it all too real.

Obviously, all just speculation on my part. :)

ITA.... But I also have a sene that there is something more sinister being plotted out on the part of the defense here. And it's got lots to do with the family, just a gut feeling that I have. Casey has no feelings, at least not for anyone other than herself. But still she doesn't want to face those that she's going to plow under the bus.

Hi everyone!
I missed the hearing & haven't read all the pages on this thread.....sorry.

Can someone tell me if the Judge granted Baez motion to have "out of state" experts still be a part of this case?

Thanks!

most of the out of state experts were allowed.

Although he did allow most he also let it be known that he would be scrutinizing every detail, and he did also implement some restrictions on some of them in terms of cost and travel etc.

He approved most of them. Mainly because Baez proffered to the Court that they had completed over 60% of their work. JP seemed to think it was fiscally responsible to keep them and pay 'expenses' (travel, etc..) than to hire a new FL expert and start all over.

He really put the kibosh on the fees though. e.g., he said they needed to say in budget hotels, rent compact cars, etc... He also ruled they can have only one expert per issue at hand.

And expanding on Q.B.'s comment, with limited caps on hours and spending which JBP said he will be watching very closely.

Reason given and confirmed: If 60% of the work has been done the experts must almost be finished. Not cost effective for the state of Florida and the JAC to start over again. So not exactly a win.

Whoops, y'll beat me to this answer.

this was just another example of JB's pp courtroom conduct. It took him about an hour to start unraveling. KC's choice. She is the poster child of making bad decisions.

Or maybe George and Cindy are afraid the courts or Baez will snoop in their personal monetary affairs and demand some compense since they are dealing with the Anthonys daughter.
It would cut into those vacations and high living that the Anthonys are enjoying right now.

As to the mystery expert. Well the ONLY area that JB did not cover with his gazillion experts was medical - mental health. Judge Strickland ordered an psych eval on KC a long time ago, and I just can't see the defense not countering this. Fellow sleuthers, I am going to say this again: fighting so hard to keep the mitigation specialist they already have, and not one word about any medical/mental health expert so far. To me, this sounds like the clue phone ringing off the hook. Plea Bargain time! Dr. to explain why KC did not tell anyone what happened accident, temporary insanity, snapped due to whatever mental condition she has and the specialist to try and garner sympathy for their client so she can be given a lighter sentence.

Hi everone,

Up early today to watch the proceedings. Sorry, but Jose had my skin crawling again. IMHO, he was trying to see what he could get away with from this judge - NOT A LOT. I almost died when he said "well, I'll have to get so and so to get done early so she can get the extra $10.00 an hour". The judge was having none of it.

When they went to break to work on the out of state list, I just zonked out - couldn't take it anymore.

Thanks to everyone for their updates. This is one cwazy case!

were these motions addessed in this hearing?

Well Judge Perry denied a blanket motion to supress information on florida statutes as per OS att response and JAC response to motion, which includes her commissary accounts and so forth. JP said he would look at things on a case by case basis in the future should anything come up...but I am paraphrasing here, but that was the main gist of it. IIRC JP stated two cases and said there had to be exceptional circumstances.

Coming up on In Sessions in a bit will be George and Cindys lawyer Brad and his take on the court scene with Baez, today

In addition JP went on to say how important the media were the handmaiden of coverage/accountability/wrongful convictions etc...I'll have to watch that bit again. But Baez was not getting any of Caseys records sealed as to commissary, her jail accounts, what she orders and other general reporting on the case.

JP was very clear on this.

Yes, the mystery expert was kept secret in their sidebar. There is a lot of room to speculate on who or what this mystery expert is. The judge did keep it under wraps, so wonder what that could mean.

As JB was going down his list of experts, all I could keep thinking was, wow! it's been 2 years and they still need to pay for all this? Where the heck did all that money go? What have they been doing for TWO whole years??!! They have done a ton of media interviews and I guess that is where all there time has been spent. JB said that some of his experts had not reviewed the evidence. WHAT? It's been TWO years. I am just astounded that basically a few depositions have been done and they've been running around trying to pin this on someone else. IMO, it is clear what is going on now. They have every intention of pointing the finger at someone in the family, hence "the Anthony family's car." I think this is the first time I've heard it referenced as that.

Also, was it my imagination or while Mason was arguing the montion about Casey not wanting to be there, JB was on his phone?!! He was holding it under the table but he was clearly texting or reading texts.

But to admit to an insanity defense would be to admit to murder. IMO.

But it wasn't KC who committed the crime, it was her alternate 'Zenaida'...which the defense was unaware of until recently ...ok, back to my corner lol!
