O/T a bit, but isn't it ironic that not too long ago we were all complaining that there wasn't much new to discuss until a set of released docs appeared and now this news is dumped in our laps right after the letters were released. Now, how is Ashton handling this news.

Oh I forgot CM was qualified and hasn't it been awhile since his last DP case.

BBM

Not sure how long ago it was, but pretty sure the guy is sitting on death row right now. :innocent:

I just saw this on the local news and, I kid you not, I made the scooby doo sound! I'd spell it if I could, but it was a sound of complete shock and bewilderment. And of course I ran to my computer to see what WS had to say about it...I knew you guys would be on top of it!

That is going to be one hell of a status hearing on the 15th! Stock up on your favourite "supplies" for that one!

Wait just a minute. Wasn't this case pushed back so far mostly because of Lyon's teaching schedule? If that's the case and she's now gone...ooooh, defense. This could be a really, really bad move for you! HHJP is not going to like the one reason this case was pushed back so far LEAVING, especially since he made special arrangements because of Lyon! Could this mean the trial gets moved up now?

Oh Lordy ~ You are SO right on that point ~!!

Casey's team may have just leapt from the frying pan straight into the fire with this bombshell that has been dropped.

Judge Perry only agreed to the later date because of Andrea Lyon's daughter's graduation next year.
He wanted it pushed up.

I'll spell it for you....

RUT-ROW!!

Cindy's letters to the Inmate clearly showed there was a rift between the roaring lyon and JB, in how to handle the Inmate's "image" and how to have her communicate with her family.

I agree, I think that part of AL's strategy necessitated to 'humanize' KC and JB knew that the A's and KC would not stick to the script -- or would use their own tough to believe script as they do with the media.

BUT..But...but....

What about CA's plans for Andrea to help KC get into DePaul????

What about that now???

:floorlaugh:

OMG...lol... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHAAHHAHAHAHA...whew...lol

she just doesnt want to lose.. and she knows she would have....

Just seeing this so I haven't read every article linked yet, but in re. a few concerns posted so far -

I don't this will have ANY affect on the May 2011 trial date. I predict that stands as is.

I think this decision is primarily due to:

-- AL not wanting to ruin her perfect record

--she already had her hands full with JB, then CM holds the presser from hell after the 6/21 status hearing :innocent: ...pretty sure she was hitting the sauce pretty heavy that night

-- and of course $$$$$$

Can someone post the link to C Mason's presser that has been mentioned? I was out of town for 2 weeks, and missed everything up until today.
TIA, and sorry to disrupt this thread topic ~

I wonder if he will go back and review the dates, or just leave it as it stands?

Maybe it was ZOIKS!

Does this mean Casey won't be going to Depaul to study law when the real Zanny (or even better....a LIVE CAYLEE) emerges?

Whatever the Lyon's true motivation was for leaving, I can't deny that it gives me great pleasure to see her go.
Mainly because this Inmate never deserved that quality of lawyering for free.
And JB did not deserve to ride on the coattails of a real lawyer.
And the Inmate did not need to continue in the false hope that this celebrity anti death penalty hero was going to miraculously save the Inmate. IMO

I think she did it to plug her book.... that didnt work.. i dont think its on the NY Best..lol..or is it...haha :waitasec:

anyway... The laws of the Universe are settin in motion...AKA here comes the Karma Train

I wouldn't be surprised to find out that this is not Late Breaking News, but instead something that has been in the works for a couple of months now.

Several weeks ago, AL attended what would be her last hearing in this case (have to find date). I also believe it was the first hearing that Mason attended and introduced himself to the court.

At the end of the hearing, AL stood up and embraced KC and then they pulled back and exchanged some pleasantries. Posters on that hearing thread even commented that it appeared to them as if they were witnessing a "goodbye hug" between AL and KC.

I would NOT be surprised to find out that AL was instrumental in finding her "replacement" in Mason (knowing Baez couldn't handle case alone), but agreeing to complete her role in mitigation investigating with Jeanne Barrett and Mort before announcing departure.

Personally, I never expected her to stay onboard for the duration, but I sure am going to miss her students!!!

I think that her "top secret" over the top, drama loaded speech that she gave a couple of years ago for the State of Florida Defense Attorney's anual meeting, that was "leaked to the press", took a HUGE bite out of her already huge "ego", and, her upfront money was all she wrote and got out of that book; IMO.

Strike One = TM

Strike Two = AL

Strike Three = ??

Anyone? Who's next?
