Jury selection. Day one (can you hear me Mr Mason)

Jury selection will be different. Day 1 40 jurors. Will get started at 830 or 845

The Jurors will be segregated to another courtroom
questions will be staged in 4 specific areas

1. hardship and length of trial. If they can serve. Get rid of them then
2- pre trial publicity.
3- death qualification
4-both sides are free to ask the juror any question that they care to ask which is permitted by law

at the end of questioning Judge will ask each side if that juror is acceptable or unacceptable

Needs grounds for cause to excuse.

JB looks like he just realized this is actually going to trial.

day two through 4 they will bring in 30 a day to talk to until they get their jurors

HHJB jury selection will be different - day 1 bring in 40 jurors, get started 8:30 or 8:45, the 2 sides needs to agree on statement of the case to be read to jury to encompass the facts. After going thru preliminary indictment, jurors will be segregated into another of courtroom and randomly selected in groups in 10, brought in one at at time.

Four areas to discuss:
1) hardship issue - if a hardship then get rid of them then.
2) pretrial publicity
3) death qualification
4) both sides free to ask that juror any question permitted by law.

At conclusion of both state and defense - I will ask both sides if that person is acceptable or not acceptable. If not acceptable, that juror will be excused to go home but leave contact info. We will get 12 and a certain number of alternates then go onto day 2.

Now talking about television channels for lawyers' approval.

Judge will also provide a list of DVD movies that the lawyers can object to.

What I am hearing the judge say is this...don't make the jury stir crazy because you won't let them watch Top Chef...ya know?

The judge said the tv stations the defense wanted banned were not even news stations.

Hope they get to watch the movies KC rented!!! (I can dream can't I?? LOL)

Hopefully, there will be a larger number of alternates for this trial. Just because it's been so.....weird.

After 12 plus jurors. they will be brought back and sworn.

day 2 - 4 depends on how long it takes to get jurors
they will bring in 30 a day to talk to.

List of juror television channels given for approval.
The channels listed offer no news.
giving them until april 1st to object to stations listed
jury sequestered, and judge worried they'd be bored.
It will help them pass the evening.
also available to jurors. DVD movies they can watch
they will compile list of movies

tv sets will be programmed and only sets available to them.

Baez not taking Notes today? Just turning his pen around...

television sets will be pre-programed
DVDs will be allowed - titles must be agreed on by both sides

Judge going over approved television stations with no news and no ticker tape across the screen about news. We will also have a list of DVD movies they can watch. Both sides need to review these lists, the tv sets will be pre-programmed to allow the channels we have approved. How much lead time will you need to know to make arrangements?
