I used to be a bit afraid of their opening statement too. But then Linda K-Baden
made an appearance on NG last week and eased my mind. She told us that the biggest problem for the defense is the 31 Days. Okay, she worked closely with Baez on his defense strategy. Wouldn't you think that if he really had an answer for that lined up, that she would know about it? Apparently she is not convinced that his opening remarks are going to put that issue to rest.

Great point, thanks :)

Thanks for your info.

Does your experience refer to trial or pre-trial?

I have seen Defendants shackled in prison garb for pre-trial hearings (including ICA for some of her initial appearances). But every newspaper article (even for "small time" cases), video, live streaming, etc has shown the Defendant in their own clothes unshackled for the trial in front of the Jury.

Both.

The reason one should not be shackled is because some may presume the prisoner guilty or may imply the prisoner may be a threat, this obviously can taint the jury. With this point I agree.

In Casey Anthony's case it may also have been to save her anymore embarrassment and injury as she seems unable to wear them without losing equilibrium, crashing to the floor and chipping a tooth requiring dental repair.

If Casey Anthony needs to speak with her attorney she just needs to indicate that at some point during the proceeding and her Attorney will arrange it, if he wants to, or needs to.

Unfortunately the defendant continually plucks at, pokes, touches and flirts with both her male attorneys they have yet to get this behavior under control, she has also slapped JB's arm and tried to get his attention while at the podium.
I could go on but you get my meaning, she is the embarrassment in the courtroom and her rights far from being impinged upon are indulged to an extreme degree.

The vast majority aren't sitting here hoping Casey gets karma bombed in some way just to indulge our need for revenge. Most respectfully, I find your own judgment to be over harsh and a little critical. All most people want is justice for Calyee who amidst all the brouhaha is almost always forgotten.

Dont know Scamperoo, but isnt it common sense that Attny and client should be meeting "Behind CLosed Doors" away from onlookers, and possible "Hot Mics"?? Its silly for ICA to need to chase her attny around just to talk to him:crazy:.

Course it does appear that JB is trying to avoid his client, and at times almost LOL at her...I wonder IF he has come to end of his patience with her? Of course, that doesnt stop him from seeking the camera's does it?:banghead:

I found what the woman, who was interviewed by Kathi, said about the juror/witness was very interesting. I think it is pretty obvious and I will leave it at that. :innocent:

Anywho, I have calmed down and will go into tomorrow hoping that we will pick right up where we left off. How many do we have total going through to the next round? 39? We may have lost a day, maybe two? Might be mid-week-next week before we start trial, but I'm okay with that. Hopefully that was the one and only hiccup we will have?

We have grown to expect shockers in this trial haven't we? Why are we even surprised at another WTH?

I have complete faith that HHJP will have a jury seated by Sunday evening. This week. Complete faith. He has four more days - and has been booming along except for this blip.

And this is definitely NOT directed at you LolaMoon08 - but general worriers - it is way too soon for sack cloth and ashes.

In fact let me give you our general greeting in the Old Days - right hand raised in a peace sign with the words - "keep the faith Sisters!"

Really the younger the demographic they get for the pool - the fewer will know about the case... face it the younger generation is simply more self absorbed and reads less news. Doesn't matter if it appears on the internet or their phones or a paper. Unfortunately this is also the group that can (usually) least afford the time off work unless they are still living at home. There were a couple students in the cirrent pool and I can't imagine they won't make it through....

MOO

Would someone kindly post a link to the juror that "talked" to the group about the case? Just got home and was hoping one of you great people could post a link so I won't have to wade through 20 pages. :blowkiss:

I think Ann Finnell and Baez were both shocked at the amount of hands. They both said OMG - you can see it clearly.

Ann Finnel, yes.
Jose Baez, IMO, not so much.

He was way to smug IMO, and I have to wonder if he didn't recieve a call from this "witness/juror" when they recieved their notice.

Just speculation, but really, Baez did not act or look surprised to me at all.
He looked rather pleased with himself, as if he had just pulled off a great coup.

Casey is the only one with the right to due process, she is the only one charged. This is why there is such a push for victim's rights here (which I also believe are warranted).

You are correct, I had that backwards. However, AMY had wanted the criminal to be prosecuted. The Defense tried to delay it, and could not.

Bottom line, is that Amy wanted closure sooner than later, and she got it.... eventually.

If Casey was so worried about a Felony on her record, then perhaps she shouldn't have committed one.

Yes, it should be behind closed doors, especially so in a Capital Murder case. Some of the talking with the mics/cameras on may be another attempt to delay, confuse, move the trial. The Judge is hip to it though, and is moving forward. Too much time and money wasted already, no fooling this Judge.

I wonder if ICA realizes if there is a mistrial in this case she will still be sitting in her cell? I sometimes think she does not have a clue what mistrial means. She ain't goin no where anytime soon. She better hope they get this over with now since she thinks she is going home. It could be another long year for her waiting for all this to cool down to find a jury.

Someone opined on the trial thread.....that DCS looked like CA.

Well you know what they say about people resemble their pets.....maybe some attorneys resemble their clients and family.

What a resemblance.

I don't think we have ANYTHING to worry about ; we have got 2 GREAT Pros. Attorneys: Mrs. Burdick & Mr. Ashton; they WILL make sure Caylee get her justice and Casey gets punished for the rest of her life.

We Also have a GREAT judge who does not put up with anything and by golly, He's not going to let Casey get off of this.

I agree. She and JB may think mistrial means acquittal (which is never happening in this case). Delaying only means more lonely days for KC, JB can only bill for x amount, if he has been allowed to bill yet. These things have caps on amounts that can be paid to attorneys, experts, blah blah blah. Eventually though, KC goes in Gen Pop. Maybe that is another reason to delay. IDK.

I like Judge Perry but some of his questions are ridiculous. He asks a juror twice a question regarding not reading the news. The juror did not understand. Judge Perry ask another similar question and juror still does not understand. He then asks him what is his primary language and how well does he understand English. The juror states he understands English a little. Its obvious he does not understand English well! Why does he bother?

What a resemblance.

I'm so happy you guys know how to do these pictures. I have always thought they look alike. Wonder if that is why DS and KC do NOT connect. DS moves herself away as if KC has the plague, KC sees no love lost.

North... South... It doesn't matter to me? If they can not find a jury in Pinellas County, I think they should take a shot somewhere further away. Is there any way possible they can take it out of State? :floorlaugh:

Oooohhhh.......... Bring Casey's trial to Texas; We'll show her some REAL Texas Justice. :D

For the transcript and clarity. Although the Vietnamese guy understood a good bit, he would never have made it through experts.

I truly think you are right on there 21merc7 (yikes cant ya get a simpler nic?) anyway, I am thankful Judge Perry has taken over this case...tho love Judge Strickland..He seemed afraid to create any appellate issues..JP is so on the game..knows his law and is Comfy in his own skin..LUV that MAN!!

I assume JB has waived all rights to speedy trial..and NOW appears wants to delay even more..Hey!! Just had a lightbulb moment..Maybe its the research that Ms. Simms was addressing today....Do they think the results of that study could "Exculpate" ICA??..Course they DO!! Guess what?..Its NOT going to happen..IMO:floorlaugh:

A death pentaly means just that in Texas! You do not sit on death row for 20++ years living off the fat of the land.

The State charges Casey and Amy was a witness for the State. It was pretty cut and dried as cases go.
