If JB has withdrawn from the case at this late hour it is unforgivable, especially after all the media exposure he has been lapping up from it all. Ironically, however, it would be good for all involved (including ICA).

To be frank, I have been thinking that the best thing for all involved is if the entire defense team goes (except DS and AF) and the process starts over. This so far has been a media circus perpetuated and exacerbated by media hungry attorneys using this case as a publicity stunt. That is not justice from any view.

IIRC...FLORIDA law...lawyer can't withdraw....

i'm getting a hinky feeling Baez is quitting.............call it plan B.

Baez can't quit at this point in the game, can he? However, Casey can fire him and start the whole process over in a different County. :twocents:

another thing. Was cheney mason not in court yesterday? or am i imaging that?

I think if JB were off to file a motion, ICA would either be smug or smiling - not crying about it.

I think maybe JB left and called someone to say he wasn't coming back, either today or ever. That makes more sense as to why JP asked CM if he discussed the matter with her and why she was crying.

It sure seemed to me that Judge P's voice was quivering when he ended today. Anyone else think this?

This pic is from yesterday...sure looks like he's talking to her about something important:

Could it be possible that Baez got into a car accident during lunch? Maybe they didn't want to say anything until his family was notified....

(probably grasping at straws...)

Why would JB need to get in his car and drive away if he was filing some kind of motion and/or an appeal? Isn't he at the courthouse?

When you file documents you can't just file documents at any Courthouse. You have to file the documents in the jurisdiction you're filed in, in this case he would need to go back to Orange County to file any documents.

Last statement HHJP made
HHJP: Let the record reflect that the defendant is present along with counsel for the defendant, (???) State Attorneys; Mr. Mason have you had an opportunity to discuss the matter with Ms. Anthony?

Mason: I have your Honor

HHJP: Okay, anything you need to add?

Mason: (couldn't heard answer)

HHJP: Okay this court will be in recess until 8:30 tomorrow morning.

What-ever happened today, wonder if it was planned and that was the reason ICA was in black.

I know that's crazy, just trying to think of ANYTHING!

I don't do well in suspense.

LOL - have you ever known ICA to be appropriate???

wait a minute

Yesterday when DT went into closed room with ICA she came out crying..you could tell she was crying, this is when the DT came out and used their next to last strike.

Then this morning that big motion the judge denied

Then recess (which was late)

Then they come back and long lunch

MOO JB wanted on the record that he was only doing what he thought he should do to give his client a fair trial.

ICA was crying this tells me maybe she didn't want JB gone, so I don't think she fired her

This leaves open to having to do with GA and CA lawsuit recently?

The bar?

Or, perhaps JB fell on his sword over something their investigator did. remember all of a sudden he showed up in court? What if the state found out and brought it to the judge in behind doors. What if that last juror, it was learned he was a stealth Juror and the DT got caught so JB fell on his sword.

I see three possibilities:

  1. Baez asked to withdraw from the case.
  2. Baez was fired by KC.
  3. KC has decided to plea.
They still had jurors waiting to be questioned, and they now have the courtroom reserved through Saturday, so it is not an issue with jury selection. Mason cannot delay it presently by filing a motion or appealing at this time, AFAIK.
BBM

The defense could file an interlocutory motion asking an appeals court to review HHJP's decisons re: voir dire. An interlocutory is filed when it is a "question of law" or how the law is interpreted.

Not saying that is what IS happening, just clarifying.

Officials at the Fifth District Court of Appeals say they haven't received anything

from twitter

perhaps casey will say jose telling her shes acting like a two year old hit a nerve. poor caylee was 2! also i am shocked they would close court when under such time pressure with pedal to metal they say. could it have anything to do with jose hiring the defense who has killer husband on death row? definite change in casey look today - black clothing as if in mourning and her hair looked darker as if dyed blacker. why pink other day outfit and today so somber? judge seemed shaken - did they attack judge in some way? defense is a mess with internal issues and robin was the most shocking as if wtf is her defense thinking hiring her!! a plea stating what the shocking news could be casey tells court the news of who she now claims killed caylee? time is so limited it must be something large mattered that can impact case.

Motion argued by Fryer -

"waa waa we don't like how you're doing the jury selection, here's some case law on judges abusing their powers - you know kinda like you"

Denied

Pot juror questioned

Side bar

Recess

Side bar

Pot juror tossed out by state (although I thought he was a smoothy)

Judge Perry advising being tossed out of court by end of today/ then told by Judge Perry they were to be given till Saturday

Opening remarks to start Monday at 9 am IF there is a a jury

Long long long lunch

Somewhere in there Baez told us all what a great guy he is because when he took this case he swore, like for realz, pinkie swears and everything, that he would get ICA a fair trial.

We all got our hankies out, it was quite touching, ahem...

Return from lunch

Judge Perry says did you discuss that matter with your client

holds his hand up as if to say, easy, easy, don't go too far

Mason - yes we did your honor.

JPerry - court in recess till 830am

END of Day - all hell breaks out on forum

Apparently Baez went home at lunch, was seen driving away all other defense attorneys in having lunch at cafeteria - Baez did not come back to court.

Does the state know what's going on? What was their reaction when the judge was recessing until tomorrow?

craigatwftv:

Sheaffer says NOT a plea deal

Sheaffer says not jury pool issue

Sheaffer suspects Baez is sick

Baez is sick? Oh come on, is Baez that desperate he will pull a sickie? Nevermind!

Perhaps Baez has something that would prevent him from staying in the courtroom - like vomiting or the runs. But couldn't CM take over?

Jean on IS is saying the DT usually sits together at 1 table for lunch.
Baez was not there and the DT sat at 2 tables...

They are trying to confuse everyone...

or there is a divide in the DT. One side for trial to save her life or one side for a plea to save her life. Never know:fence:

The guy can't pretend to be sick forever ( if this is what is going on ). Plus I would think the court would require some proof, note from doctor or some such thing.
