Apparently Baez went home at lunch, was seen driving away all other defense attorneys in having lunch at cafeteria - Baez did not come back to court.

Was this motion recently?

That would mean she has argued two motions in this case already?

I did NOT see her crying she seemed ok to me, I will rewatch once it is posted but she seemed fine.

It's VERY APPARENT to me that she is INDEED crying.

just my thoughts:
1)earlier this morning HHJP asked baez what he wanted to do? did he want to move? did he want to stay there... Baez responded by saying he wanted to get to work. He did not indicate he wanted to start all over.

2)baez is lead counsel and has to be present during jury selection

3)whatever matter that came up to pull him away from the courthouse was most likely personal in nature... moo (think sick family member, etc or something personal that needed to be taken care of

4)baez has enough cronies running around that courthouse that could file a motion while he continues interviewing clients. I am not buying that. WHAT COULD HE APPEAL ON? He was already asked this morning how he wanted to proceed and has already been afforded every benefit of the doubt under the law so far. No one has been sworn. He has used his strikes, etc.

5)maybe wherever he went at lunch (he did ask for 15 extra minutes) he got stuck and could not get back... court cannot go on without lead counsel in the room... that has already happened a few times where he was out of the room and hhjp said he would not start without lead counsel present.

so my vote: personal business that could be case related but not an appeal

But filing a motion should not stop jury selection. The DT has been filing motions all week (yesterday I believe they did). So something else (IMHO) is going on.

In Session producer is saying on TV he has never seen anything like this in his life.

Really - this is all about death and LWOP. She might as well take LWOP (I can't be bothered). Who on this universe really thinks she's innocent -- really!

I am postulating that JB is off filing an appeal about how he cannot keep his promise to his client to represent her to the best of his ability because big bad HHBP is rushing him through. KC felt she didn't have enough time to contrast and compare who would decide her fate.

Because Baez has never had a high profile case before being seen on TV - I'm really starting to believe this is the biggest caper Baez has pulled so far.

NO! No way would you leave a law clerk to file a an appeal motion. Unless of course you don't care about your work product.

Perhaps Baez has something that would prevent him from staying in the courtroom - like vomiting or the runs. But couldn't CM take over?

If JB went home sick,HH may have asked to CM to inquire if ICA would continue without JB.

If ICA said NO HH may be slghtly ticked (in general,or with JB or ICA) because this would jeapordize the JUry Pool.More time for taint.

Perhaps HH is not buying JB's excuse.After all, AF came in sick.

Why would they have recessed if Baez had been fired? Wouldn't HHJP have just announced that right then and then announce that they would be starting over as soon as ICA got her lawyers in order?

Whatever happened it has to be something that would REQUIRE a recess. IMHO.

I have to disagree with Mr. Shaeffer on this one. How many lawyers does Casey have? There is NO WAY the courtroom would be in recess until tomorrow just because Baez is sick. That is just plain ridiculous and a bad cover story.

I don't believe JB is sick either. I first thought the DT was in the process of filing an appeal. However, why would court be in recess for the rest of the day and reconvene at 8:30 on Thursday morning?? That doesn't make sense????????

I don't think filing an appeal would make ICA cry. Maybe she is crying because her spotlight is gone for today??? I think plea or she fired JB...
