It must be apparent to the jury what the DT is doing during this testimony. It's still testimony no matter how much the DT tries to disturb it.

Vass earlier: "I love my subject."
Assistant State Attorney Jeff Ashton: "I can tell."

I sure hope that JB will not asking the JAC to pay for his mitigation specialist to sit in the courtroom during Dr. Vass's testimony.

Was there any odor detected in the courtroom when the trunk liner evidence box was opened and the trunk liner shown to the jurors last week?

Several court observers said they couldn't smell anything. But I'm sure they were quite a distance from it.

ETA: Let me correct myself. I don't believe the trunk liner was ever removed from the plastic bags it was in. I may be wrong, but that's my recollection. Never shown to jury out of bags. Just introduced into evidence.

Wait a minute - did Baez say he just did this depo last Friday? Did I "mis-hear" him? How would that be possible if he was in court all day?
LOL - maybe he said he just read Vass's depo last Friday.
Can anyone illuminate me while we have this sidebar please?

I think they did a second one. Not sure why....

What other cases is Dr. Vass known for? You all seem to know hm so well.

sorry guys, running behind today. i first fell in love with Dr. Vass during the Frye hearing. "how cool is that?" (one of his favorite sayings)

http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2008/dec/14/death-detector/

Vass said he does much of his crime-related work for free, on his own time.

His motivation is two-fold.

One, he said, is compassion for those who need to find out what happened to their loved ones.

"I've seen lots of families and lots of homicides over the years. It tears me up," he said. "Closure is important."

The other reason is the science itself, driving the boundaries of what's possible.

#CaseyAnthony Follower wondering why Dorothy Sims isn't doing cross on experts. Good question.

I heard him say he did Friday NIGHT! IIRC - he re-deposed him per a prior hearing....

little giggle then a whisper fron ICA to JB

ugh - no remorse

During Frye hearings Vass said he "jumped back 2 feet" cause of the smell of #CaseyAnthony 's car. Will jury hear this? -fell

#caseyanthony defense will also point out an unsuccessful search for remains by Vass in California at a ranch used by Charles Manson. -Longo

Dr. Vass is not only extremely intelligent, able to break down difficult concepts in layman's terms, and addressing the jury, but is ALSO very likable and has a good sense of humor.

I'm sorry, but the DT is just no match for him. There is not one person on the DT who I think will be able to successfully cross and earn points with the jury.

ETA: I really think their best chance is to not ask any questions. I think anything they try to do will just backfire on them. Dr. Vass doesn't seem easily confused or distracted.

The second depo was the result of JBs whining about the database.

I'm guessing that when Baez does his cross examination, he will ask how many child cadavers do they have 'lying around' the Body Farm.

Talking about capturing the components of the air in to three separate carbon thingys to purify the air. The components are analysed.

Just a quick aside....I heard TH this weekend (a well respected defense attorney) talk about the inexperience of JB in handling a case of this magnitude, the lack of his handling murder cases in general, and how you need a defense attorney who knows how to handle a capital murder case. The reporter broke in and said that he had talked to JB, and JB told him he had handled many murder AND HIGH PROFILE cases. OMG. Have these people never even googled JB?

I saw that too- they let it pass. The attorney also said that this case is NOT one you should use as a learning experience.

Now that the students, DT, have been reprimanded and placed in time out by the teacher, HHBP, they are resorting to making faces and passing notes...utterly juvenile.

I'd love to see a transcript of that last sidebar. JB seems to be a little quieter now.
