You know what's sad in all this? Granted, this is more a referendum on our justice system, but when something is so obvious but yet all someone has to do is say 'i didn't do it' and the state has to then proceed to spend tons of taxpayer money, retain the services of experts such as Dr. Vass (who I'm sure doesn't come cheap) and then to go through this charade of a 'trial'

Getting away from science a bit...asking about the smell and the "jump back" was just mentioned...

Dr. Vass testified that he jumped back a foot or two when he opened the can. THe smell was so strong and he couldn't believe that much odor could be contained in that little can.

I believe the 'fat lady' just sang.

Did IS really just cut out when JA asked,
"and what did it smell like?" Seriously IS, can you please atleast TRY to break at a decent time! Jeesh!!!!

odor made him jump back, recognized it as human decomp which he has 20 yrs of experience of

Yes, because they (state), unlike JB IMO, seem to understand Dr. Vaas' work. Therefor they know how to pose questions to him. I don't think JB really gets it, or he's just not interested in it enough (or can't be bothered), to pose meaningful/important questions. JMO

I am impressed with the questions asked. Seems the SA has prepared well for this witness.

SLAM...in the DT face.

Reaction from Casey....nada, zip, ziltch

20 years of experience of smelling that smell! Poor little angel caylee!

InSessions went to commercial right as Dr Vass started to answer- First I jumped back a couple of feet- great timing! :banghead:

Acetic acid is a byproduct of human decomp....and in manufacturing chloroform

Analysis of scraping of wheel well.

Chemical extract: acetic acid. Biproduct of human decomp. But also a byproduct of manufacturing chloroform.
