2011.06.28 Sidebar Thread (Trial Day Thirty)

I've tried to find an appropriate place for this question and haven't been able to (maybe it's my trial addled brain or maybe there just isn't one) so please forgive me for asking here if it isn't appropriate.

Question: Once the day's trial thread is closed and the day's sidebar thread is closed where do we go for general trial/thoughts posting? I'm a night owl and have tried (while/after getting through reading both above mentioned threads) to find a place to post my thoughts and/or communicate with others during late night/early morning hours but...

I know there are many topic specific threads but I'm unable to find a general thread. Out of curiosity, if there isn't one, why not?

The trial threads are to cover what is happening during the trial. It is meant for people who can't watch live, to get an idea of what is happening in the courtroom. It isn't meant to be a Q&A, or discussion.

There are many topical threads, if you have a specific question. Also, this sidebar thread is open before, after, and during breaks. You can probably ask your questions here. Sidebars are more for letting off steam and discussion of what happened during the trial.

There really are no "general threads" because it would make it difficult to find information later. That is the purpose of having "topical" threads.

The defense wanted to prove consistency. They wanted to show that ICA acts inappropriately in situations such as grief or stress. Being in jail is stressful yet ICA was/is happy and pleasant just like she was during the 31 days Caylee supposedly drowned.

I agree that is what they are trying to do. So using that logic, her innappropriate behavior is opposite of what a reasonable person would believe or how they would behave? Kind of like a loving, nuturing mother vs the murdering mother? Hmmmmmmm....They expect the juror to fall for this? I don't think that's going to work for them.

He was accused of finding her dead ... so NO he did not find her.

No You are right. I must have misunderstood your post. I was just commenting that I thought the state put the psychiatrists who originally evaluated ICA on their list.

He said that on the stand today? Are you sure it wasn't a repeat of what he said in the past?

He said it as he was making a point that he didn't find his grand daughter dead as accused by the defense. Meaning not then, not later, not ever, sir!

I was not the one who killed my grand daughter, I did not see her when she was dead and I didn't dispose of her body. But he isn't allowed to say that, so he phrased it like he did.

I tend to think those tweets were premature. This afternoon, the witnesses that the DT were hoping to use to discredit him - Did not pan out. :twocents:

This has got to be the wildest, craziest case I have ever seen.

Boy is that the truth. Nothing is cut and dry and there is no witness that doesn't come with baggage that can and is being used against them. Why couldn't the police have found Caylee's body the first time Kronk called, think of how that would have changed things. Why did the PI's have to take their tape to the media, creating that entire chain of events? Why did that bag of trash have to be found in Casey's trunk? Underneath all the malarkey is really a very simple case of filicide, but it's so hidden in all the muck that I'm worried the jury won't see it.

It was CM telling the judge that they had about a half dozen folks left to testify, so take it for what its worth. Why didn't Baez jump in on the answer?
It wouldn't surprize me if they are sitting down tonight deciding what 'ringer' they can call and basing their decision on how the media is spinning it tonight.

Vinnie on HLN showing the difference where Caylee was found by RK vs where DC searched. What a difference to actually look on here vs the photos. I wish they would show the jury something like this.

I have searched for maps or photos like this but not seen any. Wish I had been watching this. It's hard to get a good idea of anything from the brush- and trash-filled photos of the woods that have been shown in court. And frankly, I understood nothing from the maps Hoover and D. Casey were looking at in court yesterday.

I think he was trying to show (as in his OS) that her reaction to being in jail, among other things, was not that of a "normal" person.

Oh, I see. That was why JB was getting one of the guards to point out that most prisoners in PC would be bothered by being in a 6 x 8 cell for 23+ hours a day, but not ICA.

Is this River Cruz person really going to testify? I may not be GA's biggest fan, but IMO this "River Cruz" doesn't sound very credible. I can't imagine the DT has anything that proves which one of them is lying. All they have IMO is innuendo.

No, the defense theory is that the sexual abuse is what caused her to react inappropriately to Caylee's death, with the death being the catalyst, not that the death was a result of Casey's actions. What the jury doesn't know is that Casey did not behave appropriately prior to Caylee's death, the judge kept out the stealing and lying from before Caylee disappeared.

It was today...JB asked him a question that started something like "now..before you found your granddaughter...blahblahblah" and GA responded that he needed to clarify "I to this day have not found my granddaughter....blahblahblah"

This is among a few "George-isms" that have sprung from the senior Anthony's mouth. My personal favorite is "...The body that was in my granddaughter's car was not my granddaughter!"

I was just trying to find out where we could discuss (in general) the day's trial events after the trail and sidebar threads were closed for the day/night. I'm up until 2-3 or 4am EST (Orlando) and was looking to gab/release some thoughts/opinions, that's all.

Let me try this one, I speak a little Anthony. I think what George meant is that what was found is basically a pile of bones. What he was looking for/wants is his sweet little flesh and blood granddaughter.

EDIT: Guess my Anthony is a little rusty. I see there are better answers above.

No, I think u hit the nail on the head. This is what I was thinking as well! But, as the Anthonyisms go, can anyone really be sure?
