I am pretty sure that the answer is, yes. The battery would be corroded if salt water was present. Those ion battery fires are crazy. It would also include electric bikes, and golf carts.

Thanks - very interesting article. It sounds as though fires and/or corrosion resulting from salt water immersion could end up as an exclusion for motor insurance - maybe even insurers refusing cover for EVs/hybrids, or hiking premiums beyond affordable, in certain areas of the US.
 
If you want to see Sarasota County videos of what it’s like there check out this Facebook page. The debris is awful, so many leftover Helene damaged items that were not able to be picked up.

I can only imagine how much damage was done by all that stuff flying about. The forces here were huge. I saw a big construction dumpster on a roof; I can only imagine how many fridges and sofas out for collection became missiles punching holes in things.

TALLAHASSEE — Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday said the state moved a 10,000-person base camp it had set up at the Tampa Bay Rays stadium to help with the post-storm recovery after it became clear that Hurricane Milton would pose a threat to the structure, located in St. Petersburg.

Eh, it's human interest. It's the bread and butter of media.

Though personally, I'm more interested in the actions of emergency services before during and after, and the acts of bravery and kindness that come out of these kind of events.

I'm more interested in the beautiful bull terrier saved by the cops than in a man convinced he and his boat are invulnerable.

Another Update about our fav Pup "Milton/Trooper" :D

rumors of him being reunited with the family who left him stranded began to make rounds on social media -
forcing the animal shelter to intervene.

The Society acknowledged in a Facebook post
that while the traumatized dog did stop at the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center,
he has not been returned to his owners.

The shelter also told followers desperate to adopt Trooper
that he needs to be watched by doctors for a longer period of time to check that he is in good health.

If so,
he will be fostered so a volunteer can assess what type of family he would be best suited to."

I know people look at bull terriers and think they're aggressive based on appearance, but every single one I've had the honour to meet has been sweet, affectionate, and even shy. Chill and gentle. My partner and I came within a hairsbreadth of adopting one who had come from a severe abuse situation. We didn't have a yard with good fences, so we knew it wasn't to be and he was meant for someone else. Broke our hearts. We still talk about him, twenty years later.

Hopefully this guy heals up mentally and physically and finds a home with kind and loving owners.

I have a Bull Terrier. He is an ungovernable clown! Loves everybody. Cheerful and lively.

I know it says tied up but I wondered if this one had slipped away during a rush to pack and leave and got caught up on the fence while wandering. I can’t see the tying part clearly in the video.

Mine will get tangled and doesn’t try to sort it out he just stands there looking at me. He won’t even lift one leg loose if he steps over the leash.

My German Shepherd when tangled right away starts to sort it out. Even my husband remarked look at the GS puppy pick up his leg when his leash gets between.

The Bull Terrier’s got this attitude of like I’m stuck that’s on you.

This guy looks well-nourished and healthy.

His pink areas look good not like he has been left out in the sun.

He had on a collar. Appears to be neutered.

Its just like a Bull Terrier to be the center of attention even with a hurricane!

Unfortunately. he is somewhat traumatized because he was in the location. where tornadoes hit last night, and helped with searching and rescuing the people. He saw dead bodies for the first time in his young life.
