A source close to the case says Kohberger has a solid alibi and is likely not connected to Smither’s disappearance — but the grand jury has not concluded their proceedings and the investigation is ongoing.

I understand what you are saying and I admit to being ambivalent at times. However, in the case of Chris Watts, who a contributor to this site has talked about and Kohberger (if he is guilty), what about the psyche of the victim's family? Chris Watts dumped his two young children in industrial size vats of oil at a refinery. Authorities had to drain the vats to retrieve the bodies (not to mention, he killed his wife also). The parents of the wife and grandparents of the children have to deal with that imagery.

Idaho legislators have taken a strong stance on crime; no insanity defense, the death penalty and as of 7/1/2023, an alternate method of execution will be the firing squad. The Governor is quoted today as stating that these are the laws of
the people and must be followed. Or, are these laws to be used as a tool by the prosecutor to be the host of 'Let's
make a deal?'

Following is a quote from Kohberger's mother: In a letter to the editor published in March 2008 in The Pocono Record newspaper, under the headline “I Pray We Think of the Children Before the Gun,” Maryann wrote, “I personally do not support abortion, and certainly not the death penalty. State-sanctioned murder is still just that: murder.”

Ironic.

Quote from your post:

Pretty chilling then to have her son waiting to see if he is charged with the DP. I wonder if she would want him to plea to have it dropped if she sees the evidence is overwhelming? I mean if he does get charged with it.

Sad for his parents who seem like good parents.

Alibi for what?

A crime in Pennsylvania? Committed over Christmas break?

Obstructing justice by hiding evidence in neighbor's trash?
See the links to Brian Entwin on twitter upthread.

ETA There's a couple of MSM reports up there too I think, though I haven't read them yet myself I believe they relate.

The first thing I thought of was those ID cards in a glove in a box. Dateline said they weren't connected to the Idaho victims, so maybe it's someone in PA that they belonged to.

Edited to add: What if they were public school children's id cards? He did work in the Public School System as a security guard. IMO, MOO
Every time I see a connection like this, I start checking everything I have and have collected from students! I'm in no way doing nor have I done anything criminal, but in other circumstances, some of the things people who work in schools say and do can look mighty shady!

As a HS student, I was ID'd as a material witness to a murder from my yearbook photo. Not only was I not at the scene, It was part of the city I couldn't have found at the time if you'd paid me!

Looks like the link to the original request from the state has been removed. I think this is very similar to the one done mid-January. If anyone has a link, please share :)
This is strange. It is gone. On both pages.
In the case summary: I found this which is not on the cases of interest page and right before defendants response to request for discovery.

Still trying to figure it out. MOO

What exactly is gone? I might have it because I download everything and then I can take a screenshot so we can see it.

I have so many downloads from this Case I need a secretary.

The States request for discovery. Should be before Jan 30 which is when the defendant responded.
MOO
I believe that it was January 16, but cannot take a solemn oath to that. ICR 16 rule is 14 days and the Defense responded on 1.30, so arithmetic :)

(1) Response to Request. The attorney or defendant on whom a request has been served must file and serve a written response within 14 days of service of the request by filing the original copy with the court and serving a copy on the opposing party, which must state one or more of the following...

Oh, it might be in the thread from around that time, maybe a link?

I agree, <modsnip: referenced post was removed> about BK and potential links to BTK. I wrote this post over a month or so ago, and decided to save it off until the time seemed right. Hopefully this is the right time, and it will be taken as always, MOO on potential links:

Since I have been asked on these threads a few times why I think BK intended to murder 4 people in a residence that night (if he is guilty), this is one of them for which I'm offering the basis for my opinion.

BK could have planned for and been driven to commit a quadruple murder that night due to some other (and BTK's) crimes he could have known about and/or been influenced by and/or (I cringe to say) inspired him to copy some key aspects of other crimes.

IMO and MOO (BBM):

BK could have emulated to commit his first murders as a quadruple murder with similarities to the BTK killer (Dennis Rader), whose first murder was killing 4 people inside their home (2 females).

In the case of Maddie and Xana, they were 2 females killed inside their home, and Kaylee (back staying at her recently 'previous' home for the weekend), and Ethan (staying over with Xana) were also killed, totaling 4 people killed inside the home.

The eerie links between Bryan Kohberger and the BTK, Golden State and Grim Sleeper murderers
“At the time of his arrest, Kohberger was studying at Washington State University just nine miles from the scene of the murders. He had recently graduated from DeSales University in Center Valley, Pa., where he was a star student of Dr. Katherine Ramsland, a forensic psychologist focused on “extreme offenders.”

The author of 69 books, Ramsland made headlines when she collaborated with infamous serial killer Dennis Rader — a.k.a. the “Bind, Torture, Kill [BTK]” murderer — on “Confession of a Serial Killer: The Untold Story of Dennis Rader, the BTK Killer.””

Dennis Rader - Wikipedia
“On January 15, 1974, four members of the Otero family were murdered in Wichita, Kansas.[32] The victims were Joseph Otero, age 38; Julie Otero, age 33; Joseph Otero Jr., age 9; and Josephine Otero, age 11. Their bodies were discovered by the family's three older children, Charlie, Danny, and Carmen, who had been at school at the time of the killings.[32][33] After his 2005 arrest, Rader confessed to killing the Otero family.[34]

BTK (Rader) is quoted as saying he thinks the Otero murder case is similar to the Moscow murders and understands BK’s “dark mind”, and BTK’s daughter suspected BK may have tried to contact her father:

BTK Serial Killer Says Idaho Murder Suspect Shares Some Of His Traits
"Notorious serial killer Dennis Rader claimed that Idaho quadruple murder suspect Bryan Kohberger shares some of his traits.
  1. BTK serial killer Dennis Rader said he understands Idaho murder suspect Bryan Kohberger's "dark mind"
  2. Rader said he imprinted his DNA in the Otero murder case, similar to what the suspect in the Idaho killings did
  3. Rader's daughter suspected that Kohberger may have tried to contact her father
Rader — who called himself BTK, which stood for "Bind, Torture, Kill," the method he used to kill his victims — said in an email to TMZ that he understands Kohberger's "dark mind" and believes the suspect would lie in wait for his victims, stalking them and casing their home.

Rader claimed that all of this was "much like I did."

The BTK serial killer argued that the slaying of the four University of Idaho students in an off-campus residence in Moscow, Idaho, on Nov.13, 2022, was eerily similar to Rader's gruesome 1974 murders of the Otero family in Kansas.

"Murder four, much like the Oteros, up close and personal stabbed,"
Rader told the outlet, although he asphyxiated four Otero family members."

Check out Elliot Rodger's manifesto. Remember BK might have been Papa Rodger, moo. Look at pg 118 and 119. Eerie.
