Every day there seems to another statement or event that shocks and angers us even more than the day before. I've come to realize that in THIS case, we need to expect it. Just before the announcement of the bond being posted, I put this response in the thread about Cindy's statement about TM and LP:

This mess is going to get a lot worse before the tide turns and the wheels of justice start turning.

We all need to be prepared (on a daily basis) for more and more shocking statements and revelations that will anger us. They just keep coming and we need to brace ourselves to that inevitability, while knowing that in the end, justice will be served.

Leila, I admire your positive attitude. I know you have always believed the best regarding Stacy Peterson too.

Whoever did this has a lot of money lying around. She is going to be charged with murder and she will spend a good looooooong time in prison and this money just basically was thrown out the window. IF I were going to throw that much money out the window, I'd have thrown it on the front seat of Tim's vehicle. I am sick!

ITA - this is the second time $50,000 went out the window. If what LP said was true, the Padilla's put up $50,000 that went to the bonding company in the original deal that got Casey out. The Padilla's basically forfeited the money. Now, we have 2 anon people who are going to forfeit $25,000 each to see Casey get out again. Money they won't get back regardless of what happens. AND the way things are going, Casey is only going to be out a week or so, not much longer I don't think. So if she is out for 2 weeks, that $25,000 per week. That's a lot of money to flush down the toilet. I'm sure the bonding companies are happy, because now, no matter what, they each get to keep the $25,000. Pretty low risk for the bonding companies in my opinion and a quick way to make a handful of cash. The bonding companies know she is not going to stay out for long.

I'm sorry, but that is not correct. The bondsmen DO get the $50K back. If the defendant shows up in court, then the court does not keep any part of the bail money. It is all refunded to whoever paid it.

Say your imaginary cousin Fred gets himself arrested. His bail is set at $1000. If you want to bail him out, you can go down to the jail, pay the $1000, and he's free. Then you will get the $1000 back when Fred shows up to court. But if you don't have the $1000, you call a bail bondsman. You give him $100 and sign some paperwork, and then HE goes to the jail and gets Fred out. He pays the $100 (that you gave him), and signs some stuff promising to cough up the other $900 if Fred doesn't show up on his court date. So fast forward to Fred's court date. Fred shows up. At that point, the bond is exonerated, and he gets the $100 back. So now the bail bondsman has $100 in his pocket. HE gets it back. YOU don't.

The $50K/$500K is exactly the same. The bail bondsman does get the $50K back if Casey shows up on her court date. Whoever gave the bail bondsman the $50K does not get it back from the bail bondsman. Or if two people gave two bondsmen $25K apiece, it still works the same. The $50K gets refunded, and each bondsman would keep $25K as his fee.

It would have to be a tabloid print (like NE) or something like EXTRA, Current Affairs, etc.

Lemme tell ya, if Casey was to give an interview, anything she says can and will be used against her in a court of law. It's not a smart move at all. Ditto any witnesses who are paid to be interviewed - could hurt the defense b/c they would lose all credibility due to questions being raised about "financial incentive".

Just makes no sense that a defense lawyer would allow it knowing the can of worms that would surely be opened.

O.J. did that book from prison of letters people sent him while he was in jail before his trial. It was in collaberation with Schiller.

Let's say we knew who was behind the underwriting of said Bonds, and even though they posted it as a "production company" and not the network, but it could be proven it had ties to said Network and or show...

Can you imagine the bad press that a network attempting to air a *cough* independent production company's paid-for piece would incur if it was done under the umbrella of the news division?
