Thank all of you that have gone to this trial and post here. Thank you thank you.

To Travis Family ..you will stay in our thoughts and prayers.

I hope the moderator will indulge me a moment for making a few comments to our insiders rather than posing a question.

I just wanted to post some information for both our court watchers and especially for our intrepid WSers (or insiders) who actually sit in the courtroom and who we owe a huge debt of gratitude.

In Session
It appears Vinnie's new 9AM-11AM ET show will only focus on the previous court day's testimony given the early time slot. I don't think there will be any live trial coverage on I.S. (or truTV) at all. But I could be wrong.

Monday's Court Date
I just read that according to Arizona law the prosecutor does not have an opportunity to recross.

After Arias finishes testifying, the jurors will get a chance to ask Arias any presubmitted questions they have (approved by Juan and Nurmi) before she exits the witness stand.

The defense is expected to call two experts: psychologist Richard Samuels and domestic violence expert Alyce LaViolette. They are expected to offer opinions that she suffers from PTSD and Battered Women's Syndrome--and will explain Arias' behavior in that context.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to drop a note and say that yesterday was a real rough day inside the courtroom. Although Martinez did an excellent job and tied up the loose ends even getting Jodi to admit the injury to her left ring finger was in fact a result of June 4th, the reality of how brutal of a crime this was hit home. Juan displayed a photo of Travis' back wounds. It is still in my mind today, and I imagine in the mind of many who were in the courtroom yesterday. I have seen the previous horrific pictures of Travis but for some reason this one personally hit me hard. So please, keep the prayers going for Travis' family and friends.

Awww, the brutality is unbelievable. I didn't see the pic that you are talking about TA back, but I saw the one of JA moving TA body. At first I didn't know what it was until they described it, that's when I got a little sick and light headed. Dr. Drew keeps telling everyone we should look at them - to see the horrific person and result of her murder/killing. I just need a wee bit of warning, this is just to hard to wrap my head around at times.

The bright side is that JM did a awesome job, one that should be rewarded.
What does the defense have left in your opinion? JM squashed battered syndrome/ptsd, sexual abuse including the ped masturbation, the forensics don't match her story, and then ofcoarse we have many tapes of lies, lies, lies - so what does the defense have left?

Welcome I am to a newbie well kinda, sorta, maybe - my JA answer.

I will be there all day Monday so will do my best to take great notes and post when I get back. :seeya: That part about the recross rule really bums me out. I don't remember that from our trials...???

It appears I was mistaken about Arizona law.

I am now reading that the judge may allow an opportunity for the opposing attorney to recross examine. So it looks like it is left to the discretion of the trial judge. Good news.

I'll go back and answer questions once I get all my notes out.

So we walked Katie to the trucks and all sat out there talking and I was bound and determined to talk to Beth again about wth is going on with In Session and HLN coverage. Basically she thinks they will still cover the trial BUT thinks it might get cut off in the morning.

I had a really long talk with her. She's so nice. She's one of those people while she's talking to you she's reaching out and touching your hand or arm. I dunno I just really like that but I'm a sucker for affection.

Ok so she really needs our help. I talked to her about starting a "cause" facebook page. She likes the idea. And the CAUSE is to get her to keep covering trials. Somewhere. I don't have a good idea on the perfect title and if anyone out there wants to take on this project, that would be great. She's in to it. I just keep telling her how many fans she has and I don't think she really has any idea. I think we need to mobilize to help her. And there is an email address she gave me to write letters to protest her job loss or try and persuade them to keep her on live trial somehow. She really doesn't know what she's gonna do.

She gave me permission to post her email address here and said she's launching her own FB page in March.

She will be on a CNN show tomorrow night at 10pm est I think. and also Good Morning America early Sat. am 7:30. I gave her so many hugs and we both got tears in our eyes. I go way back with her.

Also I told her and guess I will go on ahead and tell you all, I was contacted by a producer for the Ricki lake show ironically just as I was walking in to court yesterday to ask me to be a guest. I was shocked when I told him I was just walking in the courtroom and he said "for what?". I assumed he contacted me related to my involvement in this trial but not at all. He'd just googled our case and knew a TON about it so asked if he could call me back today and did.

They are doing a show on murder for money and want to highlight my sister's case. This is a near and dear subject for me as I hold the insurance companies complicit with her death. We sued them and lost. It's a HUGE part of our case and if not for them, she'd be alive today and they didn't follow their own checks and balances (in fact "waived" them). Had they make ONE phone call they'd have found out her killer had a prior conviction for insurance fraud and would have never sold the policy. I'm shaking typing this as I feel so strongly about this and it was so unjust for my family. So I agreed to be on the show. They are flying me in March 11 taping the 12th. So...will keep you posted about air dates or whatever. Kind of weird timing as he knew NOTHING about this case even! Very little anyway.

Oh! I had a long talk with Julie Christopher on the sidewalk which was super interesting. I know she bugs a lot of people (the intutive) but this kind of person is in my world and I really found her interesting. She's french and gorgeous. Don't want to go in to details other than I had that encounter.

Ok for Beth:

at HLN write if you want to give them something something as in begging for laying her off:

bethkaras@gmail.com

I think direct fan letters would really make her day! Her last day is Monday I think. I'm in total denial. I need to bring her a very special gift!!!

I will write a sort of "form letter" if you want a copy to send HLN. Haven't done so yet so just pm me if you want it...feel free to use it. I think we need to bombard them so they know how many fans she has. Thousand and thousands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:please:

I will do my easy part to send e-mails/letters on behalf of Beth, because I like her, respect, and I feel she should continue to be on hln/cnn sharing her insight on a professional level. She is awesome at her job.

KCL, first thanks for your CR updates I am just one of many who look forward to you reporting back to us. You have talents beyond belief.

Also, I big heart felt hug and push at the same time, to keep doing what you do on behalf of your sister. : ( - That hurt to read, but good things do come from hurt and you are a perfect example.

Oh, I have a couple ?s, I wait until after your report, sorry if they have been answered before.

First off JA has some big *advertiser censored* hands OMG - they are huge, when she covered her face during her fake cry. I was shocked how big they are.. I don't know why, but I had to say that. hahha

1) When she refused to look at JM during cross and looked elsewhere apparently in the direction of the jury. Did they notice - they had to have?

2)Obviously when the pictures were shown, did the auro of the gallery as well as the jury box change? How so?

3) Is there a change in the vibe of the gallery and jury box today v before?

4) Kbis had me thinking, I believe she mentioned poco may have a back problem, and I thought the same as Maureen. Can you please watch them as they sit and stand next time you are in court ie: do they hold onto the chair rail/arm when getting up or down? I know a few people who have a herniated discs, and they either sit L/R.

Thanks again for all you do.

I do not want to bring up sad memories for you but is there a website or something to read about your sister's case, I am very new to this site and have no background. on a side note, I am sad about Beth I am hoping someone or network will pick her up that will appreciate her...:pullhair::anguish:

Just for kicks before I put this well worn "field notes" away, thought I'd take a pic of my notebook from court. I've written front/back/sideways all over this thing.

Thanks A News Junkie for making this for me! :seeya: Pardon my horrible penmanship...too many years of typing. :blushing:

Believe I heard VP confirm Friday that HLN would be covering this one

Can someone tell me what a 'Mitigation Specialist' does, and is this job a professional one?

I am annoyed with the woman who has been described as the defense 'mitigation specialist'--she is completely unprofessional: clothing, jewelry, facial expressions, texting, etc.

Do any of the jury pay attention to her?

What a great picture! You should print that for your scrapbook.

Well she pays a lot of attention to the jury I can tell you that. I've not noticed them looking much at either table on down times. I'm sure they see her. She is there to help find "mitigation" for sentencing. She will dig up everything and anything to help save Jodi's life when she's convicted and we are at the sentencing phase. She will watch the jury to see what specific elements might appeal to them based on her projection, etc. She will also dig up every piece of everything to make Jodi sympathetic to them.

What bugs me about her (yes she often looks like she's dressed for a nightclub) is that she used to be a Victim's ADvocate. It's like she's using the "good" skills she acquired there for "evil". But of course I'm 100% biased and everyone deserves a job. I've just been personally absolutely abused by someone in her exact position.

Just got off a long phone interview w a ricki lake producer and found out the guest on with me is Susan Markowitz, mother of Nicholas Markowitz who's murder is depicted in the movie Alpha Dog. She may be a member here. I interacted with her quite a bit years ago on the old CTV boards. What a coincidence...looking forward to finally meeting her in person.

Im new so getting the hang of the quote/reply magic...

Love all of your posts and court observations, they answer all of my questions and what I am thinking as I watch this trial!

I read what happened to your sister and my heart goes out to you... Such a tragedy, as I lost my brother in his 30's I know how much you miss her and the injustice that took place!

I think this is a needed conversation in the media and look forward to watching the segment! Good luck, although I think you got this!

Also, Beth K is the only opinion that I listen too as she deals with just the facts, without adding her opinion unless she legally knows! Love her and am joining the fight for her to stay on tv!

I found some info about Juan Martinez' background. He is just so inspiring to me.

"... Martinez's own story is inspiring: The seventh of eight children born to illiterate Mexican farmworkers, he immigrated to California when he was 6. He says he resolved as a youngster to learn English: "The people around me who were successful spoke and read English well. You didn't get far if you couldn't do that."

He managed a drugstore after earning his undergraduate degree, then entered law school. He finished law school at Arizona State University, worked for Community Legal Services helping tenants for a few years, did some defense work, then joined the Maricopa County Attorney's Office in 1988.

...and still looks like the distance runner he used to be in the high desert of rural Victorville, California."

Thank you! And frankly I'm scared out of my wits to be on TV as I have extreme "performance anxiety". :blushing:

More Beth, this just in:

Do folks understand that I'm still on TV through the Arias trial? I won't be off air until it ends, whenever that may be...

Thanks for all you're doing!

Beth
