Welcome back to the Delphi Murders discussion thread.

On the afternoon of Feb. 13th, 2017, best friends Abigail Williams and Liberty German were dropped off at a bridge in the town of Delphi. On Feb 14th their bodies were discovered around noon about 50 feet from the north bank of Deer Creek which is about 0.5 miles from the bridge.

Richard Allen has been arrested and charged with the murders of Abby and Libby

PLEASE DO NOT POST PICTURES OF SEX OFFENDERS!

Do not sleuth family, PERIOD. This includes previous public records which have nothing to do with this case. They are victims here. Plain and simple.

If you feel you have a tip, by all means, phone it in. Do NOT discuss your tip here. Contact the authorities and give them time to follow your lead.

A consolidation of ADMIN & MOD notes (edited November 24, 2022):

- Members are allowed to discuss Richard Allen's voice as heard on the Gray Hughes podcast. Members may NOT link directly to RA's wife’s social media accounts.

- Speculation about RA’s possible involvement in other cases belongs in the OTHER CASES thread.

- Speculation that is not based on known fact is not allowed.

- Please use initials only for anyone other than victims or perps.

- If you have questions about rules or moderation, please do not ask them on the thread. Just jump off any post to use the Report feature to ask and a Mod or Admin will respond as soon as possible.

- Rumors are not allowed. If you can't link information to Websleuths approved sources, do NOT post it with "I read it somewhere" or "I'll find the link later ...".

- Sleuthing or discussing RSOs just because they are on the registry is not allowed. A thread specific exception may be made by Tricia or an Admin depending on geographical location in relation a crime.

I didn’t join Websleuths until 2019, so I haven’t been part of the discussion as many of you have been since 2017.

However, over the years and with all the information gathered, I still vacillate between whether I think A and L were random victims of a man on a deadly mission, or whether the girls excitedly thought they were going to meet A-Shots and of course didn’t reveal that to their families.

Either way, ever since RA was revealed I do believe the evidence points to him as the killer.

Whether or not RA had some obscene foreknowledge that they’d be on the bridge, I do not know.

I anxiously await the trial when more shall be revealed.

I will be in Florida next week to take care of my ancient and ill parents, but I will catch up on the news in the evenings.

Peace for your families.

IANAL, but it looks like there might be some testimonies from inmates and staff that might have witnessed RA malingering that the D is trying to fight against. All MOO

Most importantly, in working closely with the German and Williams families, Cain and Greenlee tell the stories of who these two warm, bright, and promising girls were to all who cared for them.

Hopefully this means that the book is going to have Abby and Libby in the heart of it.

Seems that the motion states opposition to the State calling prison personnel and inmates to testify to Allen's mental state while behind bars because those individuals are not trained to make assessments on someone's mental state.

That's very interesting to me. Since the D never asked for RA to be assessed, and since they treated his Westville lawyer as a hostile witness, how are they hoping to use his mental state to their benefit?

And I would think the witnesses could state what they SAW or HEARD without making mental-health assessments.

I actually thought this had been brought up at the three-day hearing.
I doubt the prosecution would ask their opinions on RA’s mental state, but they certainly should be able to ask about what he did and how he acted. That can say a lot.

Motions in limine are filed routinely and in every case in the country on a daily basis on the eve of trial. "In limine" means "at the threshold," as in at the threshold of trial.

One would think so! Otherwise why are laypeople even called to testify as to what they wirness with their own eyes? It's simply bizarre to me because, due to the D not asking for an assessment, there is no one "qualified" to testify on RA's behaviour one way or another, only laypeople and the Westville doctor who already testified she thought he might have been malingering at times.
