...and the ties to the network?

Being that I wasn't there and privy to any conversation that took place, I can't begin to speculate about why ABC footed the bill. I do know that it's been over 2 months and we haven't seen an interview. I really don't care. The A's needed someplace to stay, they needed people to coax them to eat. I'm glad ABC stepped up and took care of things for them. I swear, if they'd slept on the cold hard ground and ate rocks for dinner people would still complain that it was too good for them. Personally, I would never occur to me that any accommodations were too good for grandparents who had just learned that the remains of the granddaughter they loved so dearly had just been found in the woods.

Because George and Cindy's actions in accepting top of the line accomodations say to me that they already knew Caylee was dead- it wasn't hide under the covers grief/ I can't eat I'm so distraught, and they were looking to profit from said major news network.

Yep - that's what it says to me as well. They had already shifted from focusing on Caylee to protecting Casey. The only question is when did the shift occur and that is, ofcourse, OT for this thread.

It was their spokesperson Michelle B. who made the arrangements, unless you think she was acting completely without their authorization...

Who initiated the idea of the Ritz Carlton? Is it possible that the Ritz Carlton is more private? Less accessible to the press?

Bolded by me

Really, Chilly, you think that ?

Too bad the word of Brad C is not exactly golden.
He has been caught in so many mistruths, I now take anything he says with a grain of salt.

That must be why the A's hired him. Familiar personality:)

I don't know how I feel about this. I do understand that the Ant's were under extreme stress, turmoil, pain, etc, and I don't begrudge them having a place to stay, or a couple of nice meals in their bellies while their home was being searched after their granddaughter's remains were found, but what's up with so many people joining in for dinner? Did ABC pay for their meals too? I guess it's none of my business...just a curiosity.

I have to agree with you Gypsy -- I don't know how to feel about this either. I'm not bothered by the hotel - they really had nowhere to stay. And I can't see them going to her mom's (who doesn't need the added stress either). But it sounds like a "business" meal -- kind of like, what's going on, where are we going from here. As an assistant, I would have put them in a private room for a meal, or ordered up for room service. Does anyone know if they were sitting in the dining room? To me that seems odd, as by then they were celebrity like (as bad as that sounds). Were they going thru bottles of expensive wine?

In short, if the person/media had any class, they would have made sure it was a completely private meeting vs. taking them out to a fancy restaurant (and I'm not even sure it was that fancy).

Sorry for blabbering....

Melanie

I'm more concerned with LE's curiosity with the arrangement.

Me either. I wouldn't need or want an attorney - my allies would be LE. And I would let any media outlet offering hotel and dinner know just how depraved I thought they were for daring to try to bring implicit or explicit media deals at such a time, and daring to insult me at such a time by implying that I was likewise depraved.

I would be at my home and, when I wasn't vomiting my guts up in emotional agony, I'd be assisting LE in executing their search warrant, assisting in finding everything and anything they needed to find out what happened to my grandbaby.

But that's just me.

As a nice juxtaposition, over at the Haleigh Cummings site, her family is living in tents beside their home. To be near, just in case.

Do you think GA meant that no one really understands what they are going through by that statement, other than people who have lost a loved one by the same means(e.g. "murder")? Because that is a really large exclusive club if you take into consideration the murder rates and the missing/exploited children numbers.

I'm a member.

No, actually, I don't. In my opinion George thinks it makes him "special" somehow. I believe he thinks it's his ticket to a new job, more credibility, or some such. I guess the statement of his that really bothers me is (paraphrase), WE OUR WATCHING THE PEOPLE/KIDNAPPERS WHO HAVE CAYLEE.

Now what in 'ell does that mean? George, in my opinion, needs to join the Club Reality, not "find himself" fronting for KFN.

My opinion only

I agree with you MGardner. It's not where they were or what they ate. Was it done with thought toward dignity of the moment and without agenda? I don't think so or we would not know about it. It is possible to do things privately, without public knowledge. It is done all the time.

I actually felt you take that thought right out of my head! Then again, Haleigh is still missing.

um The Ritz Carlton is just a hotel and dinner does not cost $100 per person. I am an event planner for a large bank and I stay at the Ritz all the time.

I think many if you have large illusions of what a Ritz Carlton hotel is. It is a warm and normal hotel with medium priced food and nothing screams lets party.

I don't know that this thread is important at all. IMO

Are you joking? The Ritz in Orlando? Grande Lakes? That is no normal hotel with medium priced food, esp. at Normans. I recently stayed at the Ritz with my beloved for a special anniversary weekend, and we ate at Normans. The hotel and grounds are very luxurious, with all kinds of amenities.Normans, the restaurant, is very far from medium priced food: he is a world renowned chef specializing in fine dining, so it isn't medium priced.
BTW, todays Orlando Sentinel refers to the Ritz as "Orlando's most expensive hotel" where rooms go "from $249-$739/night."

I honestly think that if they had done that, people would have accused them of putting on a show of grief, and that they were just trying to get sympathy and attention.

Some said that about poor George when he checked himself into the roach motel in Daytona Beach.

These people are flogged no matter what they do.

At one point LP said he was watching the kidnappers and was going to capture them in one week. Seems like lots of people need to join that club.

I just looked at the menu for Norman's. Being a vegetarian, I would starve there if I didn't eat off the dessert menu. But I digress.

Anyway, from everything I've read, ABC didn't even get their interview.

Er, Chilly, we were discussing the Anthonys here. Please, stay on topic. Thx.
