Ok, I have had some thoughts on where KC went all day. I have noted before I have a friend that had a fake job for a long time while living at home, and she would get up every day and put on her work uniform and leave the house. She was never asked about a paycheck, because it was assumed she was spending the paycheck on gas, car payment, lunch, occasional nights out, etc. She was really, usually, going to the park all day to sleep, or visiting friends when they were done with class or work for the day.
I think the whole point is to keep the parents off her case for not having a job, and I would think that they wouldn't quiz her about her paycheck due to the fact that she was obviously paying for gas and a nanny, and clothes, and nights out, etc. It is easy for me to see how she could leave mid-day, wait for GA to leave and then return. GA thinks Caylee is "with the nanny". Then she has about four hours "free" to hang out, play on the computer and make plans for the evening. Caylee, although a toddler, could
easily be kept in a playpen up until probably 24 months... When I was repainting my house my baby was in a playpen watching Blues Clues in another room to avoid the fumes and the mess
and she was 18 months. She was fine and didn't try to get out or even make a fuss. I didn't put her in there all day every day, but I would imagine if I had she might even be less likely to raise a ruckus.
Around "quittin' time" for CA, KC could bring her by CA's office. Now the story is she is on lunch break from work, picked Caylee up from the nanny and is heading back for the night shift. On other days, she could admit to hanging around the house all day and drop Caylee off with CA for a longer night shift, or even wait for CA to come home to start work. As long as "event planner" meant mostly evening and night work, she had any number of friends to hang out with in the evenings while she was "working" and CA had Caylee.
In the end, I think the imaginary nanny was "on duty" to GA and CA when:
- KC was home
- KC had Caylee at friends' places with her (see Clint's interview where he says Caylee was there almost every single afternoon and evening)
- KC was driving around in her car or at the park feeding Caylee Velveeta and hanging around waiting for her friends to get done with their legitimate work or school.
- When GA and CA knew KC was someplace her parents would not have wanted Caylee to be and KC needed to let them know Caylee was safe elsewhere - for example the nights KC and Caylee spent at Rico's. CA says Caylee never stayed there, Rico said she did, so clearly KC was saying Caylee was with the nanny those nights.
The only one of those four that troubles me is the last one. Because we
just don't know if ALL of those times Caylee was conscious and apparent.
I also think the imaginary nanny was "on duty" to KC's friends even more often, because she needed to name the nanny sometimes even when CA and GA had Caylee to help with the ruse that she was managing being a single mom all on her own without being a burden to her parents.
I have been intrigued by the idea that Caylee's father was sending hush money. :waitasec: That would explain a lot. It doesn't appear from what I have heard that KC had a bank account up until the one she mentions to LA that she opened right before her arrest. I do think GA probably gave her cash now and then. He said that when they found out she was stealing gas that if she would have just told them she needed gas money they would have helped her out.
I am not sure we know how the "check cashing scheme" with her grandma's birthday check worked. I think it is possible that she might have used the routing and account numbers to simply use Western Union (or something similar - even PayPal has eCheck), but I have not delved into that yet.
As a side note, since people have mentioned in this thread the idea that CA knew KC was an unfit mother before this all went down, I would just like to say I don't think she had any grounds beforehand. She was irritated and annoyed that KC was not pulling her weight financially, sure. She was tired of supporting her and probably not getting much in the way of appreciation and gratitude, yes. She might even have felt that since she was paying for Caylee's doctor's appointments, clothes, and food, that she might as well be the "mom". But
none of those makes one an unfit parent. Now if she had thrown them BOTH out, and then was able to prove KC was homeless or putting Caylee in a dangerous situation due to not having the funds for something more safe, then she might have had a case. But even if KC flagrantly went out partying every night and spent her day on the sofa eating bon bons, she was not "unfit" unless she put Caylee in danger. Which I personally don't think she did until June 16th.
