You sound like a great child, being there for your mother in her home and her pets. I wish the US culture cared more about the elderly. In my experience, the elderly are warehoused into nursing homes $$ My son is married to a gal from Thailand and they honor and take care of their elderly parents. IMO, nobody should go broke due to medical/elderly care bills. US health care is really based on $$$.

Ditto that. It's pathetic and shameful how the elderly are treated in this country. I've been in the position of dealing with elderly people and I was shocked at how hard it is to find help for them. If you ever saw the movie Soylent Green, despite what it was about, I kind of liked the idea of the elderly being able to check out when they wanted to.

It may be some small relief to the family. I do think the Judge will give some waiting period when this is all done before it is lifted too, if the Order extends to post trial issues.

We know the CMJA hates to be controlled. She's probably having Nurmi filing a motion as we type! Wonder what she'll have to say about JSS on twitter tonight?

I have to agree - I think Miss Thinks She's All That And A Bag Of Chips had herself a big ole toddler temper tantrum. It'll be very interesting seeing her expressions in court tomorrow.

May God give the Alexander's strength to face that evil being during their victim impact statements.

It wouldn't surprise me if the mitigation lady brought JA a burka to hide under tomorrow, especially if she's shackled. I can't see her sitting at the DT table normally dressed and semi-composed as JM and Dr. Horn describe her cruelty in depth.

I think it was a typo.

Thank you. I tried looking it up and all that kept coming up was an artist named Jurious. I thought it might be a legal term or something. :seeya:

Hi guys. Haven't been on in a few days but I lurked a few times. WAY behind on post reading.
Saw JA's latest interview a few times more. When she was talking about the gas cans did anyone notice that she said "we" started using them when "we" moved to the desert" Who is WE?

I think she meant when she and Darryl bought the house in southern California - it isn't exactly the desert but it probably seems like the desert to someone from Yreka.

Don't know if this has been mentioned before, but don't you think that's the reason the Alexander family has hired an Attorney and filed a 'Wrongful Death' civil lawsuit against her? To get all her money? If they win a civil indictment against her for the cause of death of their brother Travis, then they can place an injunction against ALL of her earnings, whether it be from art or anything else. That's what the Goldman's did with OJ Simpson, they couldn't touch his retirement earnings, but anything else the man earned went to them and the children he had with Brown.

Oh, absolutely. My question was brought on by a discussion of the Son of Sam law. I assume that when the Alexander family gets an injunction, they get anything Jodi has. But Son of Sam says you can't profit by your crime. Well what does that mean? If I give you money for your commissary account, does that mean you're profiting from your crime? That's my question.

She explained the gas cans when on the stand by saying when she lived with Darrel and they would have to drive any length in the desert that they would put gas cans in the trunk just in case. Which is one of her reasons for taking them along.
Side note-I believe they lived in Palm Desert, though I have no clue if that is actually anywhere near a desert.
It is the desert, but not all that far from let's say LA. I think we did the drive in about 2 hours or so. Lots of folks do.
I always wondered about the need to buy a house in Palm Desert. That's kinda living large for a gal who had no real income to speak of...and yet, was expected to share the responsibility of paying a mortgage. Always looking to get something for nothing, IMO.

WELL...I have lived in the desert all my life and not once have I thought of carrying a gas can in my trunk. A cell phone maybe.

I know! I've driven from San Diego to Vegas, to Palm Desert. Not once did I say to DH - hey let's put some very flammable liquid in the trunk...ya know...just in case. Water yes, cell phone, yes, plenty of foods, yes. Gas...no.

Anyone who drives this route knows there are gas stations everywhere. Even back in 1997 when DH and I got married there. Not to mention driving to Bullhead City, AZ for my mom's funeral.

Not once did we even get low on gas.

She's so full of sheet....

When you care for someone with dementia, almost any time away sounds good. It just goes with the territory. When I can, I'll go back to work again and dig my butt out my debt. But right now, it's much more important to me to keep Mom in her own home with her pets. But we have very little respite care available, so it's a full time 24/7 job taking care of someone who really isn't the same person. It's almost like caring for someone who is just occupying her body.

What worries me Whack is who cares for the caretaker? ((((( ))))

What to expect tomorrow , the entire phase of the trial could complete in one day. http://t.co/axN20UNq7E

This is what Jodi has in store if she gets life in prison, but I firmly believe she will get the death penalty and the jury will make VERY short order of that decision.

snipped from the bolded part of article: And one of the reasons she needs the DP....ja should never ever be allowed to ever have a chance of getting out of prison. JMO

Smithey was sentenced to natural life in prison at the age of 20.

"In my case I just thought the world had ended and I just didn't care what I did," said Smithey.

The ex-convict is now 70 and free from prison.

After 49 years in prison, Governor Jan Brewer granted Smithey clemency and she was released.

He's not in the employee directory at USC.
At least not under that name. I know Wikipedia says he is; his web site does not say he's a prof at 'SC.
He did give a commencement address here in 2011.

Assistant Clinical Professor:

"Faculty of professional fields such as law, medicine, business, or engineering also can include ranks of "Clinical Professor" or "Professor of Practice," which are traditionally not tenure-track, and tend to emphasize practical skill training rather than scholarly research."

Sounds insane to me too!
Never mind what could happen if you got rear ended, I gotta think having gas cans in the trunk of a car where temps can be above 100 (JA even mentioned 120 degrees!) is not exactly smart thinkin'!

I was just telling you who the "WE" she was talking about was, not saying I thought anything she was doing was logical.

My sources tell me the aggravation phase of #JodiArias trial could be totally finished, incl jury decision, tomorrow. Ill be there. #FOX10
Who's his source? Jodi? :floorlaugh:
I think people are being very generous if they think this will all be done in one day. I'll be the one with the surprised look if it is finished tomorrow.

Having watched the interview a few times more....more sickening than it was the first time. What a conniving, cunning witch. One thing in our favor though is the fact that she's more stupid than she is smart.

Could that have been PHENOBARBITAL? That would make more sense for seizures' IMO

No. I looked up Pentobarbitol specifically. Pentobarbitol is used commonly with patients for seizures particularly when other more common drugs for seizures (like Phenobartial) are unsuccessful for whatever reason. From what I've been reading it appears that Pentobarbitol is more potent than other more common drugs used for seizures, so I'm guessing it's more common to be used in those patients whose seizure issues are more accute. Pentobarbitol for seizures is more of a fall back drug of choice after trying more common ones like Phenobarbitol when those more common ones aren't successful for whatever reason (seizures are more accute, patient can't tolerate the more common drugs, etc.).

Palm Desert is in the desert but it's a fully urbanized area. In fact it's part of a sprawling megalopolis that includes (north to south) Palm Spring, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, and La Quinta. Fully urbanized. Gas stations on every corner.

The whole needing a gas can in the desert is just absurd. Unless you are going off-road, there's just no need. Heading east on 10 from Palm Springs to Phoenix, the longest between gas stations is no more than 60 miles. It was all just a lie, as we all know....

It really is special. She must think she's the only person who's ever taken a road trip. Even if she was scared of breaking down in the desert, you would not need more than one extra gas can, let alone 3, let alone a 5 gallon one, unless you were super extra paranoid. In which case, that totally undermines the lost charger thing because what kind of person who was so scared they'd find themself stranded in the desert in the desert without gas would allow themselves to drive that many miles without a charged up cell phone?

Again, this woman just doesn't realize her conviction is her own doing.

Could you give more details? I don't want to visit that site.

They were totally freaked. "WHY would she do that?" "WHY didn't somebody stop her?" "She's so stubborn and headstrong!" "Her mouth always gets her into trouble!" (if that's all true, why the hell are they supporting her? :waitasec:)

I recently drove from LA to Kingman Az,( thence on to New Mexico and eastwards), on Route 66 which is the opposite of built up - in fact many towns are all but abandoned - and very empty, and we didn't bring gas. Never even thought about it. No reason. Ra-dick-u-lous .

Now, her renting of a rental car never bothered me. When I take cross country trips, and I've done a bunch (LA to Montreal, LA to Vancouver Canada), I always rent a car. Why wear out my own car when I can wear out Hertz's car??

The gas cans, though, and the nonsense with the license plate, that showed premeditation imho.
