What if he took the shed apart and reassembled it when he got there. That probably would not have been hard for him to do given his profession. That shed did not look to be that big. What if when he went out of town for 2 weeks in the beginning of Feb this is where he went? Ice fishing. We have no idea if the family went with him or not. The SO and child could have gone somewhere else while he went ice fishing or perhaps they went with him and the SO came forward with this info? There is a reason why he took the racks off that truck.

I don't think he moved the shed at all, more likely it contains evidence. JMO

Can you see through the ice from above?

Can you rent smaller ice fishing huts that would fit into the truck with the racks off?

Why would the neighbors say something if it was something he had done before and at that time they had no reason to think he was involved in anything?

Well either IK confessed or the SO or a friend told LE that IK was out there or someone saw him out at that lake and reported it. There is no way she would have been found otherwise. I hope he confessed. We shall see how it unfolds.

That, and he might have had some correlating purchases made with the credit cards while he was still in AK.

That's true but I don't know how they would have pointed to that lake unless you pay a fee to go in there? I'm sure by now they have looked at his personal bank accounts.

I meant they would have said something when IK was arrested, and LE started asking about his whereabouts from Feb1 on. Moving that shed would have been an ordeal. People would notice, and I know in my neighborhood people would be falling all over themselves to tell the FBI that IK drove his shed away then brought it back last month.

Either way, I don't think the shed moved. It may have had the body in it, but I doubt that too. I think it had physical evidence in it.

Referencing the "died within hours". I think that was a combination of him telling LE that fact, and her clothing etc condition at the lake. If she is wearing the same clothes, in the same condition as the video, and he stated it, it is probably a safe assumption. They may have evidence as to when she was put in the lake, and that narrowed time of death for them.

My thoughts and opinions only.

I will throw out MO here.
He took her, not meaning to kill, but rob. Something goes wrong, she knows who he is, saw him to good, something. He is going to leave the next day. has to do something now. I originally figured a close dump location. This is just out of that range to fit in the time frame. So he does what he did, and leaves her in the shed, it was cold those weeks, I went and looked at the temp.
he comes back and now has time to hide it.
On a weekday, there likely wont be anyone fishing there. i assume he had an ice fishing pop up. Some fold right into themselves and are a sled. (look up eskimo ice fishing for ideas). Could have packed her in that, or in a sled with gear. Not out of the ordinary to pull a sled out ice fishing to carry all the gear, poles, auger, bait, tent etc.
Drills at least 2 holes next to each other. with a larger 10" auger it would only require 2 holes just touching. with a smaller one it would take 3 in a clover fashion or 4 in a square.

Again, not odd to see. I drill 2 side by side to fit the underwater camera down.

Drilled the holes, sets up tent around the sled and over the holes. Puts body down the hole. All the ice shavings are there from drilling the hole. Fills it back in (common courtesty ice fishing, so someone doesn't fall in or so the shavings dont freeze in a lump to hit with sno-go), smooths over the snow. it would refreeze in a few hours.
he packs up stuff, and leaves..... never rasining a flag, even if there were people there...
If it didn't sink, then there would be a chance of refreezing into the hole. I beleive though it would sink initially.

So, the holes are refrozen, covered in snow etc.
IMO he did not tow that shed there, not at that lake. The access is a fairly steep path down to the water. It would be impossible to pull it back up, that would be odd.....

If it was a lake he could drive onto, and had a shed / shanty, that wouldn't be that odd either.

as far as drilling in the middle, that lake is small. So, drilling in the middle, I would assume allows for a search of the whole lake from one hole, whereas if they started on one side, that would be a greater distance to the opposite shore.
I would guess that they found hair, skin something in the shed. And he finally spilled the beans.

All is way too much work for IK to do before he left town the next morning. It is just outside the time/distance factor to be the abductor, debit card theif and leave town in the same night. making the shed be the cold storage while gone. I would also guess that the death was caused by strangulation or blunt object, not a gun or knife.... IMO..

I bet there is more to come for other stuff he has been involved with, besides the kidnapping, access charges etc, now that he has a body in his shed. Might as well go for the big time at that point. i bet there will be a crime spree following his travel trail

The ice really isn't as deep as you might think. About 3 or 4 ft deep on average in the colder months, and other people may have already established an ice hole on the lake previously.

That's what I mean. 3-4 feet is significant in my opinion. You can't see through it. Sure, the lake isn't enormous but having a completely frozen lake that far down doesn't make for a simple search. IMO

That's what I was thinking. He takes off on vacation the next day with this type of gear:

I was completely shocked just now when I saw the tag beside her name. This case had so many twists and turns that I thought that was at least a 50 percent chance she would be found alive.

I think LE should be applauded for their work. I admire them greatly in this case.

**I am confused about the time of death. Did they not state it clearly? Did she die soon after being abducted and then was placed in the ice at a later date? Or did he hold her hostage in the shed, possible to get the PIN number for the debit card (or other things I would rather not say) and then kill her later?

I don't think we know that yet. They did state they believed she died shortly after the abduction. We don't know any other facts though and are just speculating. Surely he didn't put her in the lake that night. Although it's possible, I'm guessing that would have taken a bit more planning. So if this is the case, he would have had to have put her somewhere in the meantime.

I absolutely cannot believe there are some that think LE did a poor job in this case! If not for their hard work this easily could have never been solved and IK could have walked free. It takes time to put all the puzzle pieces of a case together and it also takes time to prove these. They can't go around arresting people on hunches and they can't search a whole city without some clue as to where to search.

IMO the shed wouldnt be a good hostage location...
it is made out of "tin".... yelling, screaming, or banging on it would surely wake someone...

heck, even if one was bound (not hog tied) they could almost bust out of a shed like that, or cause so much racket someone would be alerted....

I don't think a pre planned trip out of state for 2 weeks, with a dog sitter(rumor so far, but I beleive it) just to hide something you might not have intended on doing makes any sense.

and even if that theory was correct, then there are alot better, remote, further away places one would have gone. there are lakes everywhere.... and if one had two weeks to hide something here, it would be rather simple to never leave a trace.

BUT, if after he returned he had to hide it in a day, to not arouse suspicion of the SO, then it would have to be a closer spot like chosen....

Ugggg, I had to take a break after the terrible news yesterday. RIP Samantha.

He could have easily used a chainsaw to cut the ice hole. I'm sure he owned one, and it would be much quicker than an auger to make a big enough hole.

I am very curious about the debit card charges. In the Mindy Schloss case the Federal death penalty was on the table because Wade used her ATM card and stole her car. I'm assuming that since IK did not use Samantha's card there would be no way to apply the death penalty.
