Well either IK confessed or the SO or a friend told LE that IK was out there or someone saw him out at that lake and reported it. There is no way she would have been found otherwise. I hope he confessed. We shall see how it unfolds.

This story has again...broken my heart. I may need to take a Websleuths Break..
I am a Guardian Ad Litem and I took on a new case today. Had my choice between brothers 6 and 11 and a 14 month baby girl. I took the boys but left wishing I had taken the baby. Both were cases of one dead parent, due to drugs and they were all in the custody of Grandparents. The baby would have been less stressful..but oh Well..I relate to boys in elementary school. I taught school for 33 years!

I have had my 3 year old grandson since Mar 14... and God knew what he was doing when 63 year old women can NOT have children. He is a handful...I have him until Apr. 12...So send prayers my way. NickJr and DisneyJr have turned my brain to MUSH.. I have enrolled him is Day Care...He is already bored with me and my toys. He went 2 days last week and got sick. Two nights at the Emergency Room just about did me in. Thank goodness Dear Hubby was home for the weekend..I got sick Sunday Morning...only lasted 1 day.

So sorry to be so off topic...

I think IK told then where the body was.... to get a plea deal...It was just too easy for them to find her. Thinking this after remembering so many other cases such a little Zarah Baker...Lawyers can be very good at working out those "Deals!"

Dear God..Please let Sam and Caylee, Zarah, And ALL the other sad Children Be Her Friend and Walk the Golden Streets Together!

I read the news earlier and couldn't even post. :( God speed Samantha

Hey, Mustang Sally. :)

I think it's normal to take a WS break...as often as needed...or go "downstairs"...

Some of the cases hit harder than others, for whatever reasons...and then of course we all have Real Life stuff (sometimes rocky or worse)...

Just gently saying, it's OK. But you knew that...

mustang sally,
hey neighbor. you crack me up; hang in there with your little guy. I'm not sure if chasing kids makes you old or keeps you young.... hope you didn't get the strong wind & hail today.... seems the worst of it was about halfway between your place & mine.

I'm really surprised that LE hasn't charged IK with kidnapping and murder already.

Whisperer...this is O/T...but with your experience with rapist/murderers, I am curious at what age do these perps recognize their own destructive needs? Do they recognize that they are not considered to be acceptable members of society?
I have researched common behaviors witnessed in young killers I.e. harming animals, etc. But I am curious at what age do the perps themselves recognize their own deviance?
TIA

That's a good question, and I don't have a good answer.

In the serial killers I've been around, they realized they were different(evil?) about the time of puberty....Apparently, the sex drive compounds their rage. Depending on the intellectual level, some may conclude they are deviant in nature. Edmund Kemper recognized his deviance at an early age. They love to talk about their crimes. I would say that killers like Kemper are very aware of their deviance.

As for the simple rapist/murderer, I don't know if they ever think of themselves as deviant. They certainly don't express it. The ones I know felt entitled. Upon paroling, sometimes I would ask what they would do if they saw a female that emoted feelings and how they would handle it. They said, "I would just take her". In their world, their feelings are all that's important. I don't think they ever think of themselves as deviant. They spend a lot of time defending themselves if they are asked about the crime.

Pedophiles seem to think that the children want it as much as they do, sometimes more. I don't think they think they are deviant at all and don't know if they think in those terms. They feel wrongly judged and convicted. They do their time quietly w/o creating any problems for staff. They don't talk about their crime or problems. Staff don't like to talk to them either. Work needs to be done on this problem. It is difficult for staff to work with them because it is very draining. It eventually takes it toll on the staff who try.

What a bunch of BS!!!!

I can't believe someone could do this!!

I cant think of a punishment bad enough for him.. They all seem to good!

:maddening:

I watched a video on abc news.com about her father saying she had a restraining order she wanted to files against a man she didn't even know, but was to afraid to go through with it in court, perhaps frightened the notion may infuriate him?
Does anyone have more info on this, such as is this man IK?

Samantha was intimidated by the guy (ugh!)she filed on for a RO, it appears he is a big creep, ...as his pic prays on my mind. She was intimidated by this IK too. She had two, too many, bad men around her. She was so young to have suffered and come across men like this. She must have had a soft and gentle heart. This is way too sad...poor baby.

"Police say they have the suspect in custody. Custody, arrest and charges are one thing. Conviction is another."

"“At this point he is still a person of interest,” Parker said."

Can it really be several weeks before new charges are filed? I guess they are waiting for autopsy results. Still, several weeks?

Um, not really. She had a consensual relationship with Chris. His mother said she was welcomed in their home on many occasions. Sam didn't follow through with the restraining order when certain text messages were revealed. Chris was wrongfully accused. He really really needs to be left alone at this point. Hope that helps.

I am so curious about how Samantha was located, even if IK confessed....unless they took him out there with them and he pointed out the spot?

Its not that huge of a lake. I would guess experienced police divers who are use to working in areas with currents etc. could easily scan big portions of the lake to find her. She may not have been right under the hole they created. Also you can walk into the lake from the edges in many areas, especially from the north side, so it's fairly shallow in parts that would have indeed be frozen solid. So going near the middle to go in and search seems logical.

And it is a very secluded lake view wise. You can barely see who's on the lake from the parking lot, thus the crummy photos from reporters trying to see through the trees down to the lake. Also as someone pointed out you can't even see who's parked in the parking lot from the road. There are many little lakes around this area so I'm sure regardless if this is a popular one to ice fish on or not I'm sure hearing the sounds of ice fishing is not uncommon. A few locals who ice fish have discussed this with me and said that although people do indeed ice fish there it is not one of the more popular because of it's lack of vehicle access right up to the lake. There are other lakes they considered easier access for ice fishing with ice fishing tents/huts. Plus it sits off a major highway area so its not a super quiet spot overall with fairly steady traffic most days/nights.

The state park website claims the gates are locked at 10:00pm but in February sunset is about 5:00pm which means it starts getting dark at about 4:15pm. So lots of darkness time. That area has very limited street lights and there is no lighting in the parking lot of the lake, this I know because we have stayed overnight parking lot camping area in our RV and it is PITCH black.

Conceivably he could have gone in, parked way in the back, snow storm that night, pitch black, lights off and no one checks the parking lot, locks up and leaves him locked in. It is not that uncommon actually. Many of the muni parks have signs on the gates that say like "gates are locked at 10:00pm, if locked inside call ____". In fact my husband and I were accidentally locked into another area exactly like that. We didn't realize the time, missed it by about 20 minutes, went to drive out and we were locked in without cell coverage. Spent the night in our car and couldn't get out until they unlocked the gates at 10:00am. When the guy came to unlock we told him and he was chuckling saying it happens all the time and basically sorry. Could have driven right out there, it probably was about an hour and a half drive in the weather that night, got himself locked in which then gave him plenty of time because no one else could get in. Sunrise in Feb isn't until about 9:30am so plenty of darkness time overnight.

Have they said if he claimed to have an alibi at all the night of. Wondering if maybe he didn't come home at all that night? Obviously the shed is involved somehow but where he lives is a neighborhood street with lots of people coming and going and fairly close neighbors. With his girlfriend and the little girl there seems like a good plan to not even bring Samantha back to his place at all.

Sure does help..Well, that changes a lot of things. WTH?

Hard to believe he was wrongfully accused. The image he put out there was a violent wanna be gangsta. His image speaks for itself...IMO. He's aiming a gun with one hand, shirtless, and. with his other hand, he is reaching inside the front of his pants. Hardly screams a nice guy! or any sort of human being ANY one would want to be around.

If he wanted to be left alone, he would not put that out there. He wants the attention and deservess any negative he gets..

How far did IK live from the lake where Samantha was?

When was he at Neah Bay? I am familiar with Neah Bay. That is not exactly a place just anyone would go...The only non-natives there were commercial fisherman....emphasis on COMMERCIAL. All I remember is a salmon cannery and a horrid looking restaurant. You wouldn't want to eat there.

2001-2007 and he was stationed at Ft. Lewis before that.
