Blanchard’s family continues to ask for prayers and for shares of their daughter’s photo. Her father, Birmingham businessman Elijah Blanchard, posted this on Facebook Saturday: “I want to ask everyone to continue posting my baby girls pictures until she is home safe. I appreciate everyone that has been diligent in doing what’s right. Also, pray for my family for strength during this time. Aniah is a Blanchard and she is strong and she is depending on me and everyone to find her. Aniah Blanchard daddy loves you and I am coming to find you just hold on sweetheart.”

You’ll notice they didn’t say specifically where the witness saw her pushed into a vehicle. I think that IY saw her at the store and followed her (leaving the store in the white or silver Lincoln most likely as a passenger with his accomplice driving) then when she got to her apartment and opened her car door to get out he got out of his friend’ ride and pushed her all the way over into the passenger seat (which is what the witness saw but possibly it wasn’t caught on camera). This is someone with a long record... no way he’d take her at that gas station and several people not see it even at that time of night. I lived in Auburn for over 10 years and have been in this store too many times to count. It’s well lit and busy with lots of cameras. Police didn’t show the passenger side of the car past the window because of the blood and they don’t name specifics because they don’t want to give out that information. Sometimes I think it’s more about what they don’t say specifically than what they do.

My best guess is that the gag order is due to both the publicity behind the case and that investigations are ongoing and likely for more suspects.

Maybe the family requested it...

It was a smart move imo.
A gag order is fairly common in high profile cases, seating a jury gets complicated. I would imagine the LC DA requested it. But it is a little odd that the JC DA was not allowed into the hearing.

Was it mentioned in IY’s previous arrest the one where they were pulled over for driving erratically with the victim in the car if he was the one driving?

Wondering if he has a drivers license. Even though not having one most likely wouldn’t keep him from driving. Since we know he does not care to follow the law. Perhaps he is not a skilled driver and could explain the damage to Aniah’s car.

I just can’t even begin to fathom how he was out free roaming the streets. He was arrested for attempted murder of a police officer by ramming his car into his! How could there have been a lack of evidence! I know how mad this makes me I can’t begin to imagine what her family is experiencing. Someone out there is responsible for not bringing him to justice sooner. Why would he change his ways if he was never held accountable? I’m afraid there could be other victims out there. If anything good comes from this I hope Aniah’s case will be the charging force to bringing change to how these violent offenders are prosecuted. We deserve to feel safe in our communities.
I linked a search for the City of Montgomery Municipal Court a few pages back. IY has a whole page of records there (traffic).

Great thinking, Fightback. This makes more sense than an abduction at a busy gas station and would explain how IY was seen leaving the gas station in a silver Lincoln and not AB’s car.

This could also be why a gag order is in place - if the driver of IY’s car is the witness who tipped the police, and that was revealed on Sunday, there would be interest in protecting him/her, in part to ensure safety and also to encourage others to come forward.

Suspects are scheduled for a first appearance before a judge within 72 hours after their arrest. Court proceedings are public hearings, and it’s unclear why this hearing was restricted. We questioned several officials, including the district attorney, but they declined to comment. Blanchard’s family was escorted out of the courthouse by deputies after the hearing concluded.
Suspect in Aniah Blanchard disappearance appears before Lee County judge
I’m furious! Who are they gagging? The victims family?
Don’t they have to provide a reason for a gag order and who requested it?

Apologies if this has been discussed. I’m trying to catch up lol. But I believe IY has previously filed a lawsuit of some kind in one of his other many case against that jurisdiction. I don’t know any details at all about it, but I believe they issued the gag order in order to keep this in Auburn jurisdiction plus to try to be able to pull a jury from here. I don’t think they want this case moved at all. Auburn ppl have proven time & time again to take care of their own. I imagine it will be tough to find a jury here without a gag order.

For those wondering if he is still in custody. This is a screenshot from the Lee County Sherriff’s App. It says “in custody.”

The mom and stepdad were on Fox6 WBRC this morning. They said the witness was someone at the Chevron and did not come forward on their own. Police were interviewing everyone seen on video from the store and that was when the person admitted seeing the abduction. They said the person was very scared.
They also said IY is not giving up any information.

Great post.
Welcome. I’m glad you stopped in.

‘You want him to feel our pain’: Aniah Blanchard’s parents describe seeing suspect in court
Angela Harris knew seeing the man charged with kidnapping her missing daughter in court would be difficult. But the mother of Aniah Blanchard was more concerned about her husband, Walt Harris, than she was for herself.

“Him being her daddy and just knowing that he could get to him and physically hurt him,” Angela said, “I had to tell him to take big, deep breaths, and he was. He just kept taking big, deep breaths, but I thought at any second he was going to jump for him.”

So it was probably Thursday (11/7) when LE received witness's information identifying IY as POI. It may have been same witness that saw IY leaving in the Lincoln. But it may have been another witness or at a later time. The LE public announcement would have been the last vehicle he was seen occupying.

This is exactly what I've been thinking, too. It makes so much more sense for this to have happened at her apartment complex than at the gas station. I even thought that maybe when she got home, she went around to the passenger side to get stuff out of the car, and that's when they attacked her. She had been traveling all day so she easily could have had things to bring inside.

Someone mentioned that the family has stated that the witness was at the Chevron, so maybe they did take her there. Or maybe the witness from the Chevron is an accomplice, and was at both places. It just makes no sense to me that they carjacked and abducted her at such a public, well-lit place known for having multiple security cameras. And I know we've been over it a thousand times, but I still can't make the Snapchat messages add up.

I don't think there is any reason to believe the eyewitness is anything other than a scared person who happened to witness the abduction. Surely if they were involved in any sinister manner, the police would have figured that out by now.
