Thank you. Local knowledge is always so helpful here on WS. :)

Now I just need to digest that info for a while - one thing it could possibly mean is that KM was taken for profit, and several people are involved.

Except 3 yr olds are hard to take care of. I would think we would have seen some demands awhile ago

Jefferson County working through backlog of 3,800 rape kits
Mar 26, 2019

““Every one of those kits is a person and it’s a person’s story. It’s their evidence,” says Jessica Stott, the Assistant SANE Coordinator at the Crisis Center located in Birmingham. “And so the fact that someone along the way decided we’re not going to move forward with this, it’s very heartbreaking.”

But progress is finally starting to be made as the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office tells CBS 42 that 200 of those 3,800 kits have been sent off for analysis.”

More than 3,800 untested rape kits in Jefferson County

“The extent of the untested rape kit backlog in Alabama is unknown. Alabama law does not require law enforcement agencies to count, track, or test rape kits.

In 2014, The Accountability Project issued an open records request to bring the number of untested kits in Birmingham to light. Birmingham Police Department stated that they submit all kits to the lab for testing, and that, as of February 2015, there was a backlog of 442 kits from Birmingham awaiting testing at the state lab.“

Good article:

175 Down; 3,701 to Go. Jefferson County Starts Chipping Away at Rape Kit Testing Backlog | WBHM 90.3
03-14-2019

“The inventory was finished in September 2017 and found that, out of a total of 4,999 kits in Jefferson County, 3,876 had not been submitted for testing — close to 78 percent. Now, law enforcement officials face the challenge of whittling down that backlog without neglecting new cases — and of changing the mindset that led to the backlog in the first place.

A National Problem
Jefferson County isn’t alone in having such a high number of untested sexual assault kits. It’s a nationwide issue; a recent Associated Press report estimated that 155,000 sexual assault kits currently await testing nationwide, and approximately 100,000 backlogged kits have only recently been tested.”

This is infuriating. I wish that someone would do something to take care of this on a national level. Would get soooo many of these sickos off the streets. Continuing to pray for Cupcake and follow this thread for updates.

Only positive thoughts for this precious babe. May her situation be the best one possible for her - whatever that may be - given whatever the circumstances might be.

Just wanted to bring this forward again:

Hey mom, long time no see. :)

No, I wasn't thinking of blackmail, if that's what you mean. Though that could be a 'nicer' scenario than some of the possibilities that have run through my mind, due to the findings on PS' phone.

Still hoping for the best outcome possible for this little one, no matter what.

Gosh, so hard to believe it’s been one week since police say Kamille McKinney was kidnapped. This case really has impacted so many people, including those of us covering it. #WVTM13 will continue to cover it every step of the way.

While I could say this is a woman’s nightmare, because they are predominantly woman's rape tests, I’m sure, some are gonna be male. This is NOT acceptable, not acceptable at all!

Thanks. What I always heard is that rain can wash away the evidence. At least it's good for something like scenting dogs.
The best weather conditions for dogs to work in are cool, moist days, with no direct sunlight and little wind.
Rain will freshen the scent, but if it's a heavy rain and there is wind it can cause the scent vapors to disperse and will be more difficult to follow.

The hardest place to pick up scents are streets and sidewalks. I'm still wondering if they will be searching around apartments or a different type of environment. I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

Imo

Wait what? I have seen no reference of any scents being picked up or reference that her body has been moved. My quote was referencing the Chief’s response to the reporter’s question on if she could be being moved around (alive), as in live holding locations being transferred. I haven’t heard any references to K-9 hits?
I don't know, I was just replying to a post with that information. Maybe I misunderstood. I'll have to go back and check.

Edited: I must have read too fast. It said it may mean she has been moved around.

Would you happen to know if the apartments they have searched are 'nicer' apartments? (If you are a local, or would know such a thing.)

Woodside Condominiums
Parkway Villa Apartment Complex
Marland Apartments
They are still high crime areas, but I don't believe they are "section 8" or public housing. I am not too familiar with those particular apartments, but I am familiar with the area, so this is JMO

I am so sorry I have corrected my post.

Hi margarita,
This was just my theory:
The possibility was searchers had a K9 bloodhound hit on Cupcake’s scent at one of the other search locations but prior to executing their search she had been moved?’ They’re going to keep doing grid searches on any area’s their targets have frequented.

I have given myself a timeout for my post.

This reminds me of the Chris Watts porch interview where the dogs are barking in the background.

So going along these lines, might the dogs have indicated on a location, such as the vehicle or the PS/QJ residence is certainly a question as well.

Instead of editing again I'll just add, it does make sense that LE might think she has been moved, since there must be some kind of evidence that led to them to search the various locations.
Unless they just keep getting false tips from people, or there have been false sightings.

Imo

I guess so, but makes me wonder what the evidence is that makes him a suspect.
What if he didn't know he was a suspect. But, he sees the video and knows that's him in it. Now he knows he's a suspect. Maybe they're trying to flush him out.
That may be why they are just calling him a POI and they just want to talk to him.
The other guy in the video knows he is a suspect because they have already located him.
Either way, if the POI is involved he must know it won't be long until they find him. That he has not come forward yet is a little suspicious.
It's hard to believe he hasn't heard about the case after 6 days.

Imo
