Pregnant woman Shelia Diane Hughes was last seen in Pickensville, Alabama on September 2, 2000. She was staying with her sister and was picked up by her boyfriend/father of her child. Shelia's sister, Debra, told AL.com that Shelia's last words were, "If you don't ever see me again, don't worry because I have lived my life to the fullest." Shelia was 29 years old at the time of her disappearance and went by the nickname "Boot."
She is listed on NamUs: The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)
The boyfriend/father of her baby is Renard Simmons. Shelia's family had her legally declared dead in 2008. Simmons said he did pick her up, but dropped her back off at home at 3 AM, however, her sister never saw her again. Simmons passed away on November 5, 2013, he was never charged, but was a POI at one point, but the evidence was never clear enough to charge him. After Shelia went missing, pieces of her clothing were found in Mississippi, but nothing else of evidentiary value was yielded from the find.
