It doesn't really surprise me if Mason didn't really know Mary wasn't his biological mother, taken into consideration that his biological mother wasn't really present in his life and would spent 2 whole years not seeing him, him being a 4/5 year-old that probably never really had a steady mother figure in his life, he took Mary as his mother and probably doesn't even remember of his absent biological mother that, sadly, ended up passing away. Doesn't really surprise me that much.

Using fire is a sign of sexual abuse.

That's very interesting Human. Do you perhaps have a link?

So all arsonists were sexually abused?

snipped for focus

Jmho

There's a big difference between stating there's a link and saying "all arsonists were sexually abused."

Typically, there's more than one factor involved in any deviant behavior. There's no direct causality between any one factor (including genes) and behavior. Cortisol was mentioned above and it is one of the key biochemicals (in the brain) that correlate with various undesired behaviors. Sexual abuse typically (but not always) is correlated with an increase in cortisol which itself is correlated in most people (not all people) with other changes in biochemistry.

A ready cortisol producer who, from birth, simply makes more cortisol (it falls, as do most biologic properties along a roughly bell-shaped curve) is going to be more at risk when sexually abused than someone who is a low cortisol producer.

There are definitely areas in the brain that, from birth, are correlated with a higher degree of what you're calling "psychopathic" behavior (it's not called that in human biology or psychiatry). It would be interesting to know if his mother was abusing drugs while pregnant. Lots of studies on brains are done in prisons (although financial support for this research task has diminished greatly in the last 50 years). This murderer would be a great subject for a series of fMRI's.

Ok.... this was her daughter who was murdered yet... oh never mind. Perhaps it's the author of this article, Something sure seems to be missing in the emotions department. Yeah, I think it’s the author, I hope.
BBM, Yes this particular author is terrible but she gets most of the big stories & usually has very little or incorrect info in the articles. This was one of the better articles that I have read by her.

He was not starting fires or playing with matches. He was burning live animals reportedly. That's not arson as the article deals with. I'm sure as always there's a name for it. But, I'm not looking it up. Uneducated guess, he was in pain and wanted to inflict pain on others.
I'd like to know his condition now as he sits in jail. Is he remorseful, suicidal, catatonic...what!
Has it been determined he was really doing that? How credible is the witness?
I mean, we hear that, but then we hear from the babysitter they were all love and joy,
So which is it?
For all we know this child could have been a victim of Serious abuse of some kind.
May be some contradicting information, sure would like to get that cleared up.

I would like to have it cleared up also. Nothing of that nature has been reported from LE. Actually nothing from LE at all except the first reports.

I read the New York Times article sited above when it was first published and was skeptical. The child wasn't violent and the father didn't seem to have a problem with him. It sounded to me more like a personality clash with the mother than anything else.

Unfortunately that is more common than uncommon.

Often mass murders including serial killers have a love, and hate relationship with their own mothers.

That is why SKs most often target always females. It is their sick twisted depraved way of pretending they are brutally murdering their own mothers over, and over again.

It's obvious the hate is far more present than any love they may have. Imo, that only comes about when they need their mothers to be enablers because its to their advantage whenits done. Other than that they tend to vehemently detest them.

Many times their own bio mothers are ones who failed to nurture them, and can be grossly neglectful or even grossly abused them. It can leave them unable to trust any female even if they are lucky to find another one that cares, and loves them deeply.

Imo, so it shows far more male murderers who turn into mass murders or serial killers have hatred or total distrust for the females within their own families or any female in general, because if not, we would see them targeting many more males or their own fathers to kill in mass as their intended victims when they specifically target females far more often.

It shows had badly many males need to have protective, nurturing bio mothers or adoptive mothers from birth, and throughout their lives.

Psychopaths can also be found to have a love.. hate relationship with their mothers.

Imo, we must find out why so many males seem so angry with their own bio mothers, or females in general. If we can work on finding the actual root causes is the only way it can ever be diminished. Imo

A little late in saying this, but 100% agree with this. I read several CR articles a day & this is all true.

North Alabama 15-year-old to be tried as adult in slayings of 5 family members
He was booked into the Limestone County Jail Thursday on one capital murder charge of killing two or more people and three capital murder charges of killing a person under the age of 14.

A hearing was held in Juvenile Court which paved the way for Sisk to be tried as an adult. Limestone County District Brian Jones said the charges will now be presented to a grand jury for indictment consideration. The testimony presented in that hearing is not public because Sisk was still a juvenile defendant at the time.

Alabama teen accused of killing 5 family members shows no remorse, court documents state

“Mason does not seem bothered by the fact that he is accused of murdering his family,” said Limestone County’s chief juvenile probation officer Tara Pressnell, in the Juvenile Court Transfer Report that’s included in court documents. “He has not shown any sign of remorse. While in detention, he has not talked about his family at all.”

“There are no reasonable grounds to believe (Sisk) is committable to an institution or agency for the mentally retarded or mentally ill,” Huggins said in his order. Also, Huggins said, Sisk cannot be properly disciplined under juvenile law, and “it would be in the best interest of the community and of the child that he be placed under legal restraint and discipline.”

Family has ‘nothing but love’ for Alabama teen accused of killing 5, grandmother says - al.com
She and the Prater family will forgive him, she said, and are eager to see him.
“We are going to love him...our attitude is he must be scared out of his mind and will realize all of a sudden what he did,’’ she said.
“We did not see a bad child. We did not see a child who was going to do this.”

“He was going through the pain and angst of being a 14-year-old boy. What we saw was a 14-year-old trying to grow into adulthood with three young siblings,” Prater said."
But this never would have entered our minds. He was a good kid,'' she said. “His friends are also shocked.”

"Pain and angst ..." ?
'Angst' made him murder not only two adults who seemed to love him but two innocent children and a baby ?
"Scared out of his mind..." ?
Scared of whom ?

But his relatives are anxious to meet him.

I do have to laud the forgiveness of these surviving relatives.
Not sure I could manage it just yet.

I wonder if the family will go to his parole hearings and ask for his release by the time he's 21 ?
My .02 is that he will be dangerous for the remainder of his life.

I don't want to hear about him treated as a juvenile. 14 year olds should know better than to murder people, and lie about it. He needs to be locked up forever. Unpopular opinion or not, no sympathy for the shooter here. JMOO.
In the photo from my link and the post above mine... his eyes look cold and dead.
I think there must have been some warning signs.
If I were related to this monster, I couldn't forgive this slaying so quickly.
Maybe after 25 years. But doubt it.
How could he butcher those little ones ?
Small children and a baby.
And according to the link, the stepmom loved him as her own.
Imo.

He looks a bit scary in his mug shot, and older than 15, more like 20.
I had forgotten about this case, haven’t read back, bu I think I was wondering if he was an abuse victim. I don’t recall if there was ever any evidence of that, it’s been so long.

They do. No feeling , no humanity, cold , dark, dead eyes. Pure evil.
As per Dr. Loomis in Halloween, talking about Michael Myers.
But Seriously! Scary.

In my unprofessional opinion if this boy doesn’t show any remorse and doesn’t speak about the victims (his immediate family), there is some psycopathy going on. There is likely PTSD from his past, but seems more than that.

I don’t think we have all the necessary information to explain fully the “why” in this case. More will come out in due time.

Adding: If it’s true about finding out about step-mom not being bio-mom, this was likely a trigger for the crime. Meaning there is a pre-existing condition, this type of crime is not a “first time offence”.

Court records show Mason Wayne Sisk was indicted on capital murder charges Jan. 27. His attorney a few days earlier filed a motion in Limestone County Circuit Court for a speedy trial.

Sisk is accused of putting a gun to the heads of his father, mother, and three younger siblings and pulling the trigger while they slept on Sept. 2, 2019. Mary Sisk, 35, John Sisk, 38, and their three children - Kane, 6, Rorrie, 5 and 6-month-old Colson - all died from gunshot wounds to the head. Authorities have not publicly identified a motive in the slayings.

Investigators said the then 14-year-old called 911 to report the shooting at his family’s home. During questioning, he admitted to killing all of them, authorities said. The gun used in the homicides was in the Sisk home illegally and was recovered the morning after the killings when Sisk helped lead offices to the place where he dumped the weapon.

Sisk has been in the Limestone County Jail without bond since November 2020.
