I tend to not believe AD. She was running scared when she knew LE wanted to question her - she lawyered up (and yes, I know that it is "smart" to lawyer up in most of these situations) but the whole "I needed to see KC because of something personal" just smells of BS. She had to get her story straight....that's all

I wonder why LE didn't press her for more information on certain things, especially that comment. My next question would have been, "what was the personal thing that was so important to see KC after not seeing her for months?".

Also, she's sort of like KC in the sense that she contradicts herself throughout the interview. She acts as if she found out what a huge liar KC was after the fact, yet she states that everyone in their group of friends knew she lied about everything. And that she doesn't watch the news but answers repeatedly about hearing this or that on the news. She doesn't know where the media got the Jesus Ortiz thing. Huh?? Thanks for pointing those inconsistencies out Chiquita, and thanks for posting these transcripts for us.

There are so few people in this circus that are standing up for Caylee. Annie is just one of the many despicable people. It's clear to me that she knew from the very beginning that KC did something to Caylee when she sent that text on July 16th saying not once.. but twice.."where the *advertiser censored** is Caylee?!?"

Instead of lawyering up and not giving a statement until way later, she should have went to LE up front and given any info she may have had. If it is true she only gave 1 xanax to SD, then what would she have to worry about? LE had bigger fish to fry back then.

Something stinks, and it's annie D and her testimony

Yes. ITA This has bugged me, and bugged me. For some reason I skipped the part in this interview where Annie says the reason her and Casey stopped being friends is because she knew Casey was lying about all that working at home stuff...and she does not like to be "betrayed." WTH? I can only think she stayed the night because she was now on "Cindy's side" and maybe Cindy thought Annie could "help."

But, really there is no reason, in my book...that every single one of them was not out looking for Caylee. Instead they made popcorn and watched a movie! A movie! And never discussed Caylee. Unbelievable. Literally, I don't believe that-I believe it happened but I don't believe it and it shows what kind of people they ALL are...birds of a feather...

Truly, Cindy's brother, and Tony's roommate, and the friend that cried for Caylee on the phone with Casey in jail...only good people in all of this. I have a great dislike for Annie D. Sorry. Got a little too personal. Try not to...

I have not read all 20 pages so sorry if this has been mentioned.

Many things bothered me about AD's interview, I don't believe her or trust her--IMO she knows more, much more.

But on to my point, anyone else notice that AD took up CA's theory that she pushed to JA on his AM. The one that said KC must have had help?? I noticed that AD said something like..."if KC did something to Caylee then she had help, she's not that smart". They ask her why she thinks that. What does AD say? She flatters them(and insults them at the same time)....."well because you all are the best, the FBI, this is what you do, and you can't figure it out. She's not that smart to outsmart all of you!" I was floored. And yes BTW I know that is not a direct quote but the gist of the convo. But to me ....her saying that was a blatantly transparent attempt to sway them on CA's theory of KC having help. And the insincerity of it was sickening to me, insulting. She thought she could stroke their ego's(disguise an insult) and that would make them believe that. Because she is AD, KC's BFF, and she knows what she is talking about! It;s so strange to me that she claims to have stayed the night with her but she has no info. She can't remember why KC wanted to commit herself! Come on!! Fooey....poppycock....they got her number though, I'm sure of it. And why is it so important to get them to believe that KC had help? Well, IMO if CA can find anyone, any scapegoat, to add into the mix of helping KC do this deed then KC gets a lesser sentence AT LEAST. She better be careful though (CA) as that little seed she has tried to plant might just be taken up by the defense and become a vine that chokes her. She may end up being accused of being KC's help. (Maybe she was???) maybe......

BBM are the parts I am referring to in my response, video was taken out for space. Thanks again!

Yes! This is what I noticed and said also: that Annie was using Cindy's theory, or plan to add in "someone else" because Casey is too "stupid" to have??? Annie doesn't say "get away with it/this" she says: I mean the FBI, I mean, you , you just do this for a living, and to not know, to not be able to figure out, I mean, I don't know anything more than what's on the news.

"to not know. to not be able to figure out. i mean you, you just do this for a living. and to not know. to not be able to figure out."

Figure out what Annie?

Yes. The way Annie approaches the whole subject of "Casey is too stupid" smacks of Cindy 100%. How can I find the quote of Cindy saying that Casey "had to have help?" Isn't that in the message she left for LE? Like a answering message? It would be interesting to see when Cindy made that statement and when Annie made hers. Annie admits to, in this interview that she had been over to the Anthony's talking to them and that is where she "finds out all kinds of stuff about Casey she never knew"-not direct quote.

The whole way through the Morgan and Morgan depo with Annie D. I felt I was watching Cindy jr. I think that Casey is a person who morfs her personality and being friends with Annie she learned how to be the "b!t(h" and not the "mother" she had been before(remember: Casey is the homebody to Jesse and Annie) and before "mother" she was "athlete". That one shocked me. That is how Annie describes Casey in high school.

After she and Annie stopped talking, Casey took on her ways and became like her to a degree. Parties, guy friends, her own place, no child.

I have this feeling that when Annie felt "betrayed" by Casey in the first place, and then when it "all went down" and Annie got the scoop from Cindy(and what a scoop she got!)she felt that Casey had played her for a fool. How to get back at Casey?- be on her mom's side. Annie knew one thing Casey had said was true: Casey did not like her mom.

That, "be jealous, you'll never be as pretty as me" RIP Caylee(may not have that totally correct) was for Casey.

Annie must know much much more. Do I think she has anything to do with what happened to Caylee. Not one bit. I don't know what she could be more honest with, but it is a lot of something.

Maybe she does not realize she is "throwing people under the bus" with her statement, as according to LE "you are the person who would know her the best"(next to JG, imo outside of the family). Does she not realize if LE wanted to take her seriously, they would be looking deeper at her friends and family too? She cried re: admitting to giving a friend a zanax, she cried when she had to say who it was she gave it to-I took that as she felt bad that she had to tell something illegal about a friend. But, like Casey-I think Annie was crying for herself. The most emotional she got in this interview was crying about the zanax, and when asked how she felt re: Casey saying she "could get zanax for people"-Annie said that was really wrong because it presented her as "someone she wasn't."

Before this interview I had not realized that Annie and her friends were in college while Casey was hanging out with them. Casey was having all the social fun of college while not having the burden of attending class. Once Annie and therefore all those in her class, which probably made up most of her friends-graduated: there was no way Casey could "move on" with them. Casey was called home and escorted there by her ex-fiance Jesse at the request of Cindy the day Annie and her class were graduating college.

I am glad to have seen this interview. All I had before was the morgan depo, which drove me crazy watching Annie's milder version of Cindy's performance. I do think Annie went to the house for Cindy. Not Casey. But, mostly I think she went because she is not a gentle kind person-but a person who would love to eat up the drama.

That being said, I still hold hope that there is more that LE got out of her, and even the idea that she had other reasons for being at the house. I have no idea what but I am open to that being a reality.

:cow:

And Quote Respect to you Chiquita71. I always enjoy your posts. You're right, Annie has to know much more. Annie must be easy to convince if she just went along with Cindy after that house visit. It must go back further to why she stopped being friends with Casey. Did she get ripped off by the Target bandit?

Oh yes, I loved how you pointed out the different personas Casey takes on with various people or times in her life. I, too, was surprised by the description athletic. We can surmise Casey is very competitive if we look at the relationship between her and CA though.

Annie is still a mystery to me. I find her guarded, and not really very helpful to LE. I don't get where she's calling her former bgf so dumb she had to have help. Sounded just like Cindy's words. What's up here? Annie sounds so remote like she has distanced herself from Caylee, and the awful truth.

Did Annie ever once cry for Caylee in that interview?

There was a point in the interview when she started to get upset-I think it kind of hit her that this was really happening, and they were really discussing the fact that KC could have done something to Caylee. She started to cry and LE realized that Annie was scared. But it did not seem like she was scared because she was lying, it seemed like the situation was startnig to frighten her.
I agree with many of the recent posts here, that Annie came off badly-But to me, once I gave it a few more listens, I started to think of Annie in different terms....If you have seen pics of the Downing home (on iclerk), it is not a castle. I made the stereotypical jump from there that maybe she was kind of a tough cookie from a not so affluent family.
She comes off gruff and sassy, but there is a pretty mature person in there, that graduated college, has no criminal record to speak of (again, from iclerk), takes long drives when she is upset to get away from people, loves her boyfriends for real, not like KC's fleeting "love" (she still is friends with DS), maybe a little guarded.
At the same time, she has a little street sense, and like some of the other interviewees, she circumvented full disclosure. For instance, her answers to John Morgan about not wanting to ask KC tough questions because she didn't want to know-I believe CA would have prevented AD from asking those questions anyway and did not leave AD alone with KC long enough for them to really talk (CA slept with them, for goodness sake). She went into the interview thinking she was not going to give any information of her own free will, she would strictly answer what she was asked.
As the interview went on, she started to drop the facade and provide more unsolicited info-Maybe she realized LE really did want to find Caylee or find out what happened, in spite of what CA must have told her.
I don't think she was hangin with KC much, but that doesn't mean she did not know what KC was up to, they had seen each other at the ABC party and the restaurant, so there was contact.
I dunno, like I wrote above, after I listened again, and I purposefully tried to be less cynical while listening, AD did not come off as badly as I firts remembered.
Then, maybe it's just cause the CA bar of disrespect has been set so high......

Here is the VM that CA left for JA. At around the 3:56 mark she talks about KC having help. The date of 7/23/08 is posted at the top of this video. If that is a correct date then AD definitely stayed overnight after this VM.

Yup. Light bulbs anyone? Am still amazed that many here don't know why Annie is.

From what my dust-bunny filled mind can tell me is -- isn't Annie the one who KC got drugs from? I remember her saying "I can call my friend Annie".

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Among the evidence released by prosecutor's in the Casey Anthony case, is a transcript of an interview authorities conducted with a former good friend of Casey's, Annie Downing.

Annie once lived at the Sawgrass Apartments—the same apartment complex Casey claimed Zenaida Gonzalez, her daughter Caylee’s babysitter lived. Casey accused Zenaida of kidnapping Caylee.

Annie was interviewed in Jan. 2009 regarding her relationship with Casey, Casey’s mental state, and how Casey treated Caylee.

Thank you so much doogiesgirl! :)

WS: ask and you shall receive...

I just think that if it was my theory that my former BFF had to have help...in the disappearance? Murder? (Annie does not even clarify what "help" Casey would have gotten/needed) I would have a lot more to say about that theory. And: at the point with the interview of Annie, we have not found Caylee's remains, right?

So, what is Annie talking about? Casey had to have help in doing, what? Help in making Caylee missing? This is Cindy's theory-because she already knows that Caylee has passed. Annie is speaking like she already knows Caylee's fate: either she too was privy to this information or she is just a mimic/mouthpiece for Cindy's theories.

If she was given the information that Caylee was gone when she spent the night, and realized like Cindy and George, that Casey had something to do with it-maybe she did what Cindy did-decided that it was too horrible to believe that Casey had done it alone. So, like Cindy she too came up with the idea that "Casey had to have had help" and "She is too stupid" but I don't really think so.

For me personally, I don't know how believing she had to have had help makes things better? Had they said, Casey had to have been forced, or had to have had no choice...but what they say does not defend Casey or make it sound like they think she is innocent. It is much like when Cindy says in the jailhouse tapes, "I don't know your involvement, sweetheart." (not exact quotes) I understand now why Casey says, "You don't know my involvement?" She is saying, 'Yeah you do if you are believing my story about the nanny. I dropped her off like any other normal day, remember mom?' She is saying, if you don't know my involvement the way I told you and LE I was involved-then you have other ideas as to what really happened.

It is too telling that both Annie and Cindy would have this theory while we all still believed that Caylee had been taken by the nanny.

ETA: Not that "we" thought she had been taken by the nanny... :)

:cow:

I have ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS thought that Annie was who KC was calling Nanny. Or Zany. Maybe Caylee in her baby talk could only say "zany" for AD's name.

I am not saying that I think Annie = Zany - just a mispronunciation by Caylee .... hence the reference to Zany whenever KC explained where Caylee was to friends/family.

That's it. Caylee was still missing during the time Annie could have been offering more information. It certainly doesn't seem to help Casey much saying she must have had help - help at what, killing Caylee? Oh, so I can rest easy now knowing the young mother got someone to help her kill her little girl. Casey's not "that bad" if she had help? Where was Cindy going with this and getting Annie to spout the same stuff?

The interaction between Annie and Caylee sounds too remote. Annie was around Caylee a lot for that year. Seems strange that Casey wouldn't encourage Annie to hold/assist in helping with Caylee's care while out. Annie was at Caylee's birthday party and everything, but she doesn't seem to describe having her own relationship with the little girl. I find that odd. Not sure Annie felt that much for Caylee.

Annie supposely had suffered a personal loss or whatever and needed to go spend the night at the Anthony's house. Again, weird. She wasn't close to Casey anymore. She must have been on a mission to find out more information, maybe to clear herself with LE, but all we get is more cover up and vagueness. There's got to be more.

I do give Annie credit for going on to college and graduating, and holding down a job. She sounds like she has always tried and isn't really that wild of a girl. She'd have no reason to be involved in Caylee's death that I can understand. But she knows a lot more about Casey that she's not saying. What?

Just want to drive home my question to both Cindy and Annie during the time Caylee was still "missing"....Help doing what?

Oh Chiquita you are so smart. When i first saw Annie's interview, I thought she was trying to be just like Casey, and it was the opposite! That makes so much sense. What a great analysis your post is.

I have seen upstanding citizens and good people get sucked into a narcissist's vortex and come out protecting them. Both Cindy and Casey can put a spell on people. Annie must have felt very included - she was in a lot of pics with Caylee, as well. She makes it sound like Casey was a very protective mother. Yet, she went right into "Casey's too dumb to not have someone help her". She just ditched the image of Casey as protective mother, and was hinting strongly that Casey could have done something to Caylee, JMO.

I'm sure this has been covered and I somehow missed it, but in listening to Annie's interview with LE again today, I thought I heard something I hadn't heard before. When Annie is describing that Casey told her 'when this is all over, I have so much to tell you' then I thought I heard Annie say 'well, how 'bout now?' But everything else Annie said to LE in this interview seems to indicate that she did not probe or ask questions because she truly didn't want to know more. If I heard that comment correctly, this confirms for me that Annie came to the house at Cindy's insistence to try to get more info, and Annie agreed to come, not because she missed her dear friend, Casey, but because she was nosey/curious and would have tried really hard to get Casey to tell her everything. Did I hear that comment correctly.........'well, how 'bout now?' Has this already been commented on?

:cow:

Wow, you are right. What date was Annie interviewed and deposed? What is she saying KC did to have had help with???? I was on the "Cindy influencing AD" track and completely missed what you were saying.

Also whoever mentioned that it seems like AD wasn't that close to Caylee and how strange that is....ITA. Why didn't AD have interaction with Caylee? Enough to be torn up that this little girl has just... "disappeared". Weird. (Took out derogatory remarks about the whole bunch here) Where is the rant thread? MOO
