Police Dogs Aiding Search For Greenwood Man, Child

DANVILLE — Yell County Sheriff Bill Gilkey said he “has a more positive feeling” in the continuing search for a Greenwood man and his young son who were last seen Friday after what appears to be a marital separation.

An Arkansas Department of Corrections tracking dog team from Calico Rock was on the hunt Monday evening after the afternoon discovery by the Sheriff’s Office of the man’s abandoned truck stuck in a treacherous and remote mountain area off Forest Service Road 18.

I am confused about some points.. maybe yall can fill me in..
1. Why would the FBI be involved? Is this a kidnapping? no state lines have been crossed? what is the usual criteria?
2. Why are the US Marshalls involved? What is the usual criteria?
3. Why are they using DOC SAR dogs? Do you think that is normal? Surely there are other SAR teams? Does the ASP not have SAR?
I know no one can tell me the specifics for why in this particular case, but does it strike anyone else as odd? Is it usual to bring out those agencies in situations similar to this?

Dunno about the others, but the FBI can be called in because of the child being involved. They also have several different team set up to provide additional resources to local LE in areas where local LE doesn't maintain expertise. So if they wanted to examine somebody's computer or cell phone, they'd probably call on the FBI specialists.

If what the family is saying is true, LE should be glad she isn't MY kid, I would have ended up in jail along side her DAYS ago but not before I got my licks in....

Officials have been very careful about what information they release on the case, leaving many questions unanswered. Here are 4 things we do not know about the case:

1. If they're even in the search area

2. Why they disappeared

3. What Floyd's wife Brooke knows about where her husband and child are, such as the last time she saw them. The sheriff's office has only said she has been arrested for Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution and Endangering the Welfare of a Minor

4. Why Yell County Sheriff Bill Gilkey said on Monday that after seeing the scene around the abandoned truck, he has "a more positive feeling as far as an outcome of the situation."

She later was released and is not considered a criminal suspect, authorities said.

I do not get a drug vibe from this girl.
I do not get a "killed her kid and covered it up" vibe from this girl.

Obviously I don't KNOW how she was found.
However, if she was REALLY beaten so badly...

Has anyone considered that she was arrested for her own protection?
Whether from herself or someone else, maybe they felt she was in danger in public? :twocents:

Yell County officials are holding media back from search site. @5NEWS

Expect to hear from Yell County Sheriff shortly as search continues for Brian Floyd and 10-month-old Harper.

According to this channel they have been waiting two hours for an expected update:

Clearly the delayed presser and keeping media back could lead one to unpleasant conclusions. :twocents:

Where was Brook found, how far from Where the vehicle when it was found?? Is the account of Floyds strange behaviour coming from Brook only?

The police have been called, by family. I don't even know if his wife if the one who called them.
However his strange behavior continued after the police arrived, so no it doesn't just come from his wife. :twocents:

Yell County sheriff is expected to give updated info later this afternoon

The ambulance doesn't have it's lights on.
Hopefully a searcher got a bit dehydrated or something...
Even if Harper were found in great condition the lights would be on I believe. :twocents:

It's odd the tow truck is going in though... surely they didn't find them in or next to the truck?

Sometimes they don't run lights until they get to a main road. Praying that there is a baby in that ambulance and that he is okay.

It seems to me if the baby were found alive and well it would be announced immediately.
