SS - You compared them to Catholics some strict adherents some not. I thought you brought this up to say "hey just because they claim to be religious doesn't mean they really are" so my bad.

My point was yes they are very strict adherents of their faith (and now that I know you watch their show you know that) even speaking out against LGBT and accusing them of being child molesters when they had one (and Godard and Phillips) in their own camp. That was my only point in bringing religion into it.

It is the shame filled message.the girls are enticing. In other cultures those horrible enticing females have to wear burqas.

And females have to have children no matter how much it destroys the body.

I feel that we have enlighted ourselves to know that even a ninety year old grandmother can be raped or a baby can be raped. Enticing? The five year old was enticing?

Sex offenders start around age 14. There is somethng wrong with them. Whatever the reason, that is about the age they start.

What message is being sent? Females are second class citizens that are responsible if a male cannot control himself. Males cannot be expected to control themselves, so cover up

"Now I wish that someone told me that when I was in high school that I could have felt like a woman when it came time to take showers in PE,” Huckabee said earlier this year at the 2015 National Religious Broadcasters Convention in Nashville, Tennessee.

“I’m pretty sure that I would have found my feminine side and said, ‘Coach, I think I’d rather shower with the girls today.'"

What a Christian family values creepy perverted pig!

What. The. Actual. Fuq?

Are we serious, here?

That is one knee-slapper, there. I really laugh about rape and molestation. Nothing funnier.

Bottom line, it was several illegal acts perpetrated on 5 different minors by the same predator several different times. He was supposedly told it was "inappropriate" (or whatever the Duggar's want to call it) the first time he was busted, but he continued the behavior. Just how does a 5 year old entice of 14, 15 year old? And with all that moral religious dogma Duggar was brought up in? Or was it the girl's fault because no one yelled "Nike"?

I call that recidivism.
I also believe that it can twist the ideas of right and wrong in the minds of his victims and they will allow the same tragedy to happen to their children.

I don't care what Duggar, his clan, or his supporters think...........what he did was SICK. As a victim/survivor myself, I'd just as soon see him take a dirt nap.

Politics, religion, schooling, NONE of that has any bearing. Ignorance is no excuse.....see how well that flies in a court of law. It wouldn't fly in Prison either.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. This must be a trigger for you. Hug!

Ahh.. I get it.. thanks for explaining.
I don't like hate speak. Especially when it comes from people who claim to be faithfilled. That is not what the bible or Jesus calls us to do. We are to love people AS THEY ARE. As Jesus loved us. Not being Jesus we are to live a life that reflects him to be fishers of men not finger pointers, name callers, or speaking in ignorance about a certain group of people. It is okay to believe something different than someone without being hateful, spiteful or hurtful.

I understand that a lot of what people feel about them comes from things they have said about groups of people.
I am trying to put that aside and go back to the crimes and work from there.

Huh? Catholicism is not an ethnicity.
It is a chosen religion.

For some it may be chosen, but infants baptized into Catholicism do not get to choose their religion per se. They inherit their belief system, which is essentially chosen by their parent(s). This was my experience.

I'm not going to watch that of interview. I don't need a lecture from Megyn and the Duggars about how this was a private, family tragedy that they handled well which ha turned into a liberal witch hunt.

Dang liberals! Can't accept a little child sex abuse! What's this world coming to?

And laundry... don't forget laundry...

I bet they clean up good too .. other than that though, apart from sitting around looking purdy .. it's not like you would go to one for any kind of leadership or proper man skills or intelligence etc ..

True story -- in the late 70's-early 80's I saw a large family, or an extended family, with about 8 women and girls wearing this sort of swimming garb. I commented to my dad that I was going to guess that they were either from some sort of cult, or were Anabaptist (perhaps Hutterite or Holdeman Mennonite), and that I thought it was so sad that they had to wear such swimming clothing. He said "Son, I'm a bit happy for them. At least they are able to enjoy the beach in some way. Probably most of their kin do not. They're relatively lucky."

I think it's somehow worse for the Duggar girls, though. They aren't living in an agriculture commune, and they really don't have some long-standing tradition that they believe justifies their way of life. Their family tries to straddle the old and the new in a way that can only cause incredible tension. (Not that it doesn't create tension for groups like communal Mennonites, Hutterites, Amish, etc., but it is still considerably different; I don't know of any rural/communal Anabaptist families that maintain multiple websites or Facebook pages and yet show such disdain and hostility for social media and technology (yet another sort of hypocrisy that must create tension for the Duggar kids).)

Totally OT, but Montjoy, I did not know you were a man. Not that it matters in the least, just that there are comparatively few men here. And you are so brilliant, so of course I assumed......(kidding-i know lots of brilliant men, too)

It's not a trigger, way too much counseling, Dr.s, and meds.
I'm just majorly p***ed that anyone could make excuses for this piece of (fill in the blank), and that there are actually women who are sticking up for him.

Who knows, he may have even diddled his brothers?
His own religious beliefs prohibited his behavior.
OR DOES IT? Special rules for boys?

BBM for focus.

He would have felt that way for sure if Dennis Hastert had been his coach.

My best friend was attending Saturday school and CCD (Catholic) and also observing Shabbat (but only Friday nights, because of Saturday school) throughout her entire childhood.

Needless to say, she was so confused and disgusted by being forced to observe two religions that she identifies as agnostic today. I am a person of faith and she as often told me she thinks she may have found a faith home if not for her upbringing. But I respect her need to be "done".

I wonder how the Duggars would have responded, if at all, if the police report hadn't been published?

When this first hit, it was just the article in In Touch. I saw lots of reaction from folks saying that they didn't believe it was true and that it was just a nasty tabloid story.

The Duggars didn't say anything until the "proof" (redacted report) was also released.

If you think I am sticking up for him, I am not. I don't think what he did was excusable. I am looking at what could make a 14 yr old act in this way and look at reasons for the abuse.

If he was a man when he did it, I know I would have different feelings but knowing how he grew up, and what his exposure most likely was to good sexual information and teachings, I do have to wonder if other things are at play here.
