(Slightly O/T) Upstream there has been the mention of pets (I wonder if they have any dogs?).

I was reminded of when my foster dog/friend's dog took off running and went missing...he had gone to the doggie spa a few miles away where had recently been groomed! He loved his day so much at the doggie spa he went all the way back!

:beagle:

How could I have forgotten little Kayden's name...his picture was only the most beautiful picture I've ever seen in my life, lol, the one taken after he was found....

<retrieving photo>

Here's the post!! Check it out! (hey, where did the photo go? lol)

eta: omg, also see post 477 lol!!! :floorlaugh:

Possible Scenarios:
1) Malik wandered outside the home, and has gotten lost or trapped somewhere.
2) Malik wandered outside the home and was abducted.
3) Malik wandered outside the home and was struck by a car and the driver panicked (hit and run) and concealed the body.
4) Malik never wandered outside the home and was a victim of foul play by his family.
5) An accident occurred at home and his family panicked and covered it up by saying he went missing.
7) Malik was abducted while at home (while his stepmom was in the bath tub and his father slept)
8) Malik was abducted by someone on his bio moms side of the family as part of a custody dispute.

Am I missing any?

:bump:

(Krystine, I think you asked me a question upstream...sorry, I forgot to answer <looking for post / post in progress>)

eta:

Margarita, would an autistic child be afraid if he found himself alone, outside and in the dark?

I am only guessing, but unless the warm sun was on his back, or he was trying to catch up to a puppy or a kitty,.. and he felt very physically comfortable, would he be likely to wander at that age? Wouldn't most 2 year olds do their best to get back inside the house and be near their parents? I imagine most would be crying at the door to get inside.

I think any child would, re: any more so because he is autistic, I'm not sure...If Malik is sensitive to noises as reported, maybe so depending on where he is and how noisy it is. As far as being alone/in the dark, it's hard to say, each child is so different imo. Depends on different things (spectrum, etc) imo.

I really was hoping sweet little Malik would have been found by now. :( Where are you sweetie???

We've also seen in cases retaliation (for things like drugs deals, etc).

Am I missing any?

I have a bad feeling about #5... bathtub.

Thinking out loud, assuming something didn't happen in the house...Sometimes one might remove a child from the location because they feel they are getting the child out of a bad living situation...if this could be the case then why take just one? Another thing to ponder, was the original intent to take both?

(Mom shared missing news poster about Avonte).
(Not sure she is she knows he has been found).

(I can't help but feel for this mother right now, if she is not being deceptive.)

eta: she seems to really love her kids, per fb pics and comments (history). jmo

I wonder what the relationship dynamics are like between the mom and step mom, and between the mom and dad, and if this could have any significance to the case.

One thing for the record, abductions can happen in the blink of an eye, kids do get snatched out of their yards, (as posted upstream/stats)...all it takes is a second...do I think this happened? Not so sure.

Some of Malik's mother's behavior has seemed out of the ordinary for a mother in her situation, but we also can't forget that many parents in this scenario would be under such high stress and may be obtaining psychiatric help. Some of the medications they prescribe for high stress / high anxiety can alter a person's state of mind and make them "drunk" or "loopy." It's good for us to have our hinky-meters on, but there are several explanations for some of the mother's questionable posts. It seems like much of the unordinary behavior has been in the evening when she may have taken a sleep medicine or stress reliever to try to get even a few minutes of rest. Plus, if she hasn't slept, ate, or calmed down since learning the news, she could be all sorts of out of it by now even without any psychiatric treatment.

Anyway, just want to give her the benefit of the doubt in her situation as we know it at this point.

But by all means, continue sleuthing my brothers and sisters, let's find Malik!

Summary of press conference with typos corrected:

Malik Drummond / Press Conference / Wednesday 3:30pm

"Just to clear up what the search has entailed...

Extensive ground search, approx 40 officers...

That night we used bloodhounds, dogs a team from Memphis, responded to alert from NCMEC.

Worked for 4 hours, didn't pick up scent.

Have used canines since that time.

The morning after, we moved our command center from PD to St. Mary's Episcopal Church, volunteers have checked in there, organized, assigned, searched extensive area.

It was reported that he wandered off, so since the beginning we have focused on that....Monday, sheriff searched w/ helicopter...bubble top helicopter not equipped w infer red...the drain ditches, sewer system (water company/missed it) has all been thoroughly searched, cameras...abandoned houses searched...

Completed a grid search...

Yesterday conducted thorough research w LE/NCMEC who arrived from OKC

Multiple canines used---tracking, bloodhounds, cadaver.

The purpose to get you guys together is to address status, where we are now...critical point at finding this child.

We've exhausted ourselves in this effort.

Volunteers have been remarkable in their concern.

(audio keeps cutting out)

Statistically...NCMEC are experts...says child (ages) 1 to 3 will be found within 1.2 miles 95 percent of the time...volunteers have covered the whole city...covered 4 miles in each direction...still continue to extend our search w resources such as K9s.

We will search until we find this boy.

...weather...elements...haven't been very good for child who is out there, and the community of course has joined our frustration, and that's understandable...we have moved our command center in the evening time after dark, usually 8 or 9 o'clock.

We are/we did extend our search from looking for not only a missing child but (audio cuts out).

A lot of information has come in, all has been checked out and followed up on...didn't gather you to discuss investigative effort...a lot of false leads..(sighting in Illinois)...

We need to find this boy and we need to find him soon.

Will still take volunteers...will find an area for them to search...that area eventually will run out, being candid..statistics...a lot of questions..a lot of theories..a lot of opinions...we have our own theories and opinions just like everyone else...I assure the public we are investigating every possible scenario and investigating them thoroughly...

..City effort, County, State, National effort, any notion that we were scaling back is false, shutting down is false, ...NCMEC on their way now, search for this boy is just as urgent now as when we found out he was missing...this is all we have worked on, this is priority one and will continue to be.

Taking questions:

Q:
A: ...Standard procedure to polygraph family members.

This story hasn't changed that the boy wandered off, are we looking into anything else, yes...any reasonable person would assume that if he wandered off we would have found him by now...(disclaimer)i would have expected to find him by now.

Homes in the area that know him and don't know him have been looked at?

You guys find anything? unfortunately no.

Volunteers for something like this is great, I think its at the point (don't misunderstand what I'm about to say)...in the beginning helpful, but at the point now, its only responsible we rely on the trained searchers and experts in the area and resources, that's not to say you're not appreciated bc thats not the case...the boy is still out there.

Will search expand out of city?

We have followed up on leads (outside of city).

Q: ...Twin sister was there...?

A: ...child safety interview...(also) an older sibling who wasn't there at the time (has been interviewed), we have covered that avenue, yes.

We have been able to get info, but unfortunately don't think it was relevant to search.

(Today)We've been sending our last teams out, about 4:00, and usually when they return from that area its well after dark...we move our command center back to pd.

... reflective clothing, flashlights...

Searched that area thoroghly..my belief is he is not in that area...k9s, trained experts, literally crawled under every crawlspace, every hole a 2 1/2 year old...Im convinced he's not in the area.

Guys, I hope this will clear up misinfo and confusion.

..Holding public prayer service, inviting everyone, never a bad time to pray, time where prayers were needed, appreciate you guys, nothing has changed, appreciate your patience, thank you."

(PC over).

Sorry to quote myself, bringing this forward for anyone who missed it.

This is one frustrating case. I feel so sad for this child. It seems odd to me that dad was asleep, step mom was bathing, and older sibling was not home. I had 2 littles ones and only a year apart. I can't imagine leaving kids wandering around in a house.
