Charges placed against a Conway man accused in the Tuesday killing of a Booneville woman allege he broke into her home to kill her.
Morgan Richard Weatherford, 27, was charged Friday with first-degree murder, residential burglary and theft of more than $5,000 of property in the death of Rachel King. Weatherford allegedly strangled King, who authorities found while responding to a domestic disturbance report on Wednesday morning, according to the probable cause affidavit.
The affidavit alleges Weatherford on Tuesday entered King’s residence in the 60 block of East South Street through the back bedroom window of King’s son to kill her. King’s head allegedly hit the ground several times during the strangling.
King’s son allegedly saw the struggle between Weatherford and his mother and saw blood on her face and parts of her body after Weatherford left the residence, the affidavit states.
Weatherford also allegedly took King’s 2003 Ford Expedition to flee the area after the killing. He left the vehicle at a restaurant in Booneville and left the keys in a grassy area nearby, the affidavit states.
Conway police on Wednesday afternoon arrested Weatherford as a “possible suspect” in King’s death. Arkansas State Police also confirmed Weatherford had a misdemeanor warrant out of Booneville that had not yet been entered into the Arkansas Crime Information Center before his arrest, the incident report states.
