Canadian forces plane: very predictable.

I am not sure if anyone can answer this. What is it about this crime that makes sleuthers so adamant that this is his only human homicide? (For example it wasn't media that first spoke of him possibly being linked to other crimes it was the police).

I am not asking whether it was his only homicide or not - but given that we know so little about him or his timeline - yet the majority seem to wish very much for it to be true, almost as if they want to contain him. It mirrors very much what the Canadian state will wish to do. The other thing I have noted is that there is more empathy from some posters for L.M. than you might expect.

I am not saying anything is right or wrong just perplexed. Is it something about him, something about the crime, something about us?

Personally, I think this was his first human killing. The entire thing was too bungled for it to be otherwise. If he left so many obvious leads back to himself this time, he would have other times, if there were other times, as well.
As far as empathy for LM: I think it is very heartening to see the amount of empathy he is getting. It separates US from people like HIM, doesn't it? Something happened to this young man, somewhere along the line to bring him to this end, and I think there is a bunch of "There, but for the grace of God, go I" going on in these posts. Some of us come from our own troubled backgrounds and have struggled with mental health issues of our own that we have managed to control, hopefully thanks to loving family and friends, both of which were sadly missing in Luka's life.

Well said! :biggrin: For that matter, ALL places have a darker side. I went into a pharmacy yesterday way 'up north' near our summer home and lo and behold there was a sign which read: "WE DO NOT KEEP OXYCODONE ON THE PREMISES". And I'm in a town of a few hundred! That's just real 'life' in action. People are human with human needs/vices/desires/etc.

This dude does not represent the beautiful city of Montreal nor does he represent my home town of Toronto.

This time he did and actually really did not bungle a lot - very carefully organized, planned, with previews getting interest in the upcoming movie opening at a theatre near you, etc etc. This was very planned, organized, produced, marketed and as a result he was the biggest story on the globe for 8 days -- blockbuster producers have trouble getting that kind of publicity all for free! I don't think he wanted to get caught at all, or he wouldn't have run off to Paris and from there, Germany. Yes, I agree the spotlight on him was something he craved, no doubt. It is a part of his psyche, evidenced by the kitten killvids. If we follow his pattern of behavior, there would be other killvids similar to Lin Jun's murder surfacing. There are not. I simply do not believe he would have committed murder prior to this one, and kept silent about it. It's not his way.

what i love about this thread is that while I'm sure EVERYONE here feels for the victim it does not mean we can't try to understand LM.I think it's important.
I don't have empathy for him but sometimes I do feel like a punch in the gut.
Like when I look at all the myspaces he made of his mom,sister,grandma pretending to be them and all these other fake people that love him and think he is so awesome.
That does get to me.When do you realize a person is loosing it,is there help?How and when can you intervene if you think someone may be heading that way?

Hey everyone, thanks for replying my questions! I'm a newbie so bear with me if this was discussed before and please moderators feel free to delete or modify my post if it goes against any rule of this forum.
I found one cached thread at http://chanarchive.org/4chan/b/47050
and it seems that Luka posted there himself with the nickname "blUNJBxK" talking about the murder. He says it was a cat (not a dog) in the 1 lunatic 1 icepick video and wrote a lot of graphic details about how it happened, information that I don't remember being released by the press at that time. I don't think it's some random troll who wrote those things. If that was indeed Luka who posted, it explains why he did and how.
Any thoughts? sorry, if this was discussed before, thanks in advance!

Magnotta is being restrained during the flight.

The plane will land at an undisclosed location. The suspect, however, is expected to be in Montreal as soon as possible to face a judge.

The Quebec prosecutor's office said Magnotta would likely have to appear in court within 24 hours, in keeping with Article 503 of the Criminal Code.
