Our local news (NBC 4 DC) is reporting that a human jaw bone has been found near a hotel in Aruba. It is being examined to determine whether or not it could possibly be Natalee's. Sorry, as I am on my BlackBerry, I don't have a link, but their website is www.nbcwashington.com.

Break In Natalee Holloway Case? Jaw Bone Found On Beach

Authorities are testing a jaw bone found on a beach in Aruba, RadarOnline.com has learned, to see if any DNA or dental records match up with that of Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway, who vanished on the Caribbean island five years ago.

The bone was found Friday by tourists, who took it to the front desk of the nearby Phoenix Hotel, who subsequently forwarded it to authorities, according to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.

Netherlands National Forensic Institute spokeswoman Inge Oevering told CNN, "The prosecutor's office of Aruba sent us some bone material," adding the testing process traditionally takes a week to complete.

It’s still unknown if the jaw bone belonged to an animal or human being, CNN reported. If there is any match, the bone would be the first shred of evidence in connection with Holloway’s disappearance.

I can't help but wonder why they're making so much of this new finding? Oh... don't get me wrong, it should be a big deal anytime any bones are found that could possibly be from a human and those bones should have been tested. But that hasn't been the case in Aruba in the past. There have been several reported findings of bones in the past five years only to never hear another word about them or it being reported as donkey or dog bones with no source as to how they came to that conclusion. So why is this particular find different than the others? :waitasec:

I hope and pray this is Natalee so that Beth can have some small measure of peace.
 
I just saw this story! I thought we had a whole Natalee section on the forum but this was the only thread I could find. I sure hope this is it and Natalee is finally located!

This hotel is not all that far from the HI. Maybe?
 
On CNN's Prime News they were just discussing this- it is said to be a jawbone with a molar intact. Dr Kobilinski answered questions re ability to extract DNA from bone and he said it was hopeful. The bone was found in the general area that VanDer Sloot said he dumped her ( one of the later versions of what happened, in which he took her to a swampy area).
 
Her family and friends deserve closure. If it is her, I hope Aruban authorities finally have all they need to accuse JVS once and for all. Too bad he wasn't behind bars sooner- who knows how many other victims there are beside Stephany Flores, how many murders would have been avoided. It's just horrible. If he ever leaves Peru, another trial and sentence awaits him.
 
On NG states we could hear by tomorrow if its Natalie. :praying:
