I was just looking at the "Help Find Robyn Colson - Gardner : Missing in Aruba" FB page and saw this post ...

Authorities have asked Richard to stop doing interviews as it 'is impeding the investigation.'

I remember hearing this same thing this morning but not sure which channel I was listening to. Anyone else hear this?

Has anyone given thought to the fact that maybe she was a "paid escort"?

I saw that too and wasn't surprised because, frankly, I think the guy is full of BS and just looking for some TV time. I wonder how much $$ he has made with his appearances and photo licensing fees.

The term "model" is often an euphemism for someone who works in the "adult" industry, so yes, that crossed my mind.

Was she previously married? I haven't read or heard anything about a former husband, nor did anyone mention this in interviews. Just curious.

I just noticed she is wearing what "looks" like a wedding ring set in one of the photo's posted here ...

and her HS yearbook picture lists her as: Robyn Lynn-Faith Colson so I am going to assume she was married to someone named Gardner.

ETA: Her FB page lists her as Robyn Colson.

I was reading more at the link you posted above and saw this:

Authorities in Aruba believe a missing American tourist is no longer alive and are seeking to extend a detention order for her travel companion as they seek witnesses who will help them build a case against him, a prosecutor on the Dutch Caribbean island said Friday.

For some reason, I really think Aruba may have learned their lesson with the Natalee Holloway case and are trying to take these missing women cases more seriously. I hope (and think) they will detain him further. JMHO

You are correct in terms of Aruban authorities learning their lesson, or now understand the level of American media scrutiny that is placed on attractive women who go missing in island paradises. I spend a lot of time in Aruba, (despite everything, I still love the island) and have gotten to know many locals over the years. Some of these locals are what would be described as on the fringes of the underworld of Aruba...not criminals, but know many people and know a lot of what goes on there.

Anyway, point being, before Natalee and especially after her case, Aruban locals have a motto: Never commit a crime against a tourist- especially an American tourist. They know what can happen when the media and FBI join in. Now that's not to say people there won't sell drugs to tourists or prostitutes, and steal wallets, money, credit cards etc..However, committing violent acts against tourists i.e. armed robbery, rape, beatings, murder, etc is a strict no-no. And is often punished harshly within Aruba's underworld.
Further, that's was a significant aspect of Van Der Sloot, everyone on the island knew who he was and was trying to be (a playboy, small time gangster with eyes on being a big player, but had connections bc of his daddy) All the locals knew what he was doing but never did handled him bc of his father.

My question is where is her family...why are her parents, siblings (if any) not out in the media screaming for their loved one to be located?

The family has said that they are thankful for the thorough investigation being done by Aruban authorities and do not want to interfere with the investigation. Furthermore, what good would it do for them to get on Nancy Grace and discuss their missing daughter? She isn't missing in the US so no media hype in the US will make any positive difference.

NG...:floorlaugh:

Sounds to me like "maybe" the family doesn't want to bring the spotlight on their daughter's line of employment or activities then...?

Awareness is key in resolving missing cases and remaining quiet while Aruban authorities investigate is a joke...:banghead:

Sad...

The Aruban investigators may be a joke to some people, but others seem to respect and value what they do and are doing what is normally done ... that is, they are not interfering with the investigation.

"Gardner's mother:

"We are confident and very grateful to the Aruba authorities and volunteers who are working above and beyond all our expectations," she said in a statement circulated by The Natalee Holloway Resource Center. "I hope you understand that we are being quiet as to not jeopardize the investigation. Please continue to pray for Robyn. Thank you."

One of the many sources where I've seen this posted: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/...ray_n_924167.html#s326251&title=Robyn_Gardner

The Holloway and twitty families said the same things in the beginning of Natalee's investigation, they spoke out in support of investigators. It wasn't until it became obvious that they were getting the runaround and that it was a shoddy investigation that things went south.

Let's hope and pray it's not a repeat for the Gardner family.

It looks like the Natalee Holloway Resource Center is helping them, that's a good thing, it's something that Natalee's family didn't have.

That's exactly the direction I was going....

She was recently laid off from working in a dentist's office. That's hardly a questionable line of work.

That might also have been why she could have been easily seduced by the promise of making some money by modeling for Giordano, even if she knew he was a shady character. She might have been overextended finanacially and starting to get nervous about money--or even if not overextended, in these economic times she might have been getting worried about not being employed.

Modeling?? Seriously? She was 35! Fake everything.

The only modeling she could have been doing is *advertiser censored*. That, and prostitution, were the direction I was going.

Comments after this article are pretty interesting....

Looks like I'm not the only one suspicious of the whole thing.

I think they were asked not to talk to the media by the FBI (or the people in Aruba).

Pretty sure her mom spoke to someone in the media (newspaper) and she stated as much but can't remember which paper I read it in.

Gary Giordano, 50, of Gaithersburg was arrested Aug. 5 — three days after Robyn Gardner, 35, of Frederick was last seen — and is refusing to give a DNA sample to Aruban investigators or answer their questions, said Taco H.W. Stein, a spokesman for the Office of the Public Prosecutor in Aruba, who refers to the two by their initials, R.G. and G.V.G.

The prosecutor's office has submitted a court order to get a sample of Giordano's DNA, Stein said.
