Although the boyfriend has said that she did some modeling, my understanding is that she was married at about the age of 22 in 1998 to someone in the construction industry. They lived comfortably in Washington DC. They were divorced in 2007 but there were ongoing problems regarding alimony. Shortly before her trip to Aruba, she was laid off from her job at a dentist's office where she scheduled appointments.

She met both GVG and the boyfriend on match.com and both seemed to be a little "in the dark" about her relationship with the other.

I think it's a bit of a mistake to focus on the modeling remark from the boyfriend. GVG obviously was successful and used offers of cruises and beach vacations to lure women. I suspect that he viewed women as something that could be bought and paid for, and that if a woman accepted his money, then she owed him something. Robyn probably viewed the offer of a vacation as a magnanimous gesture and thought that she could enjoy herself without having to give anything back. Once she was in Aruba, she was really at his mercy and completely dependant on him for everything. If she wasn't playing according to his rules (and we know that alcohol made her a little aggressive), then he could have become very angry and potentially violent.

I agree with everything you said in your post.

My husband has a friend who is in the middle of a divorce and he's seeing two women at the same time but neither know about the other and he is lying to both. Talk about playing with fireworks.

This is another point that reminds me of Jasmine Fiore. She was kind of playing one man against another, seemingly oblivious to how dangerous it is to play with jealousy. Robyn was with one man but telling another one that she wanted to work it out. That is exactly what Jasmine was doing the night she was murdered. Robyn's boyfriend first thought she was visiting family in Orlando, then he thought that her family surprised her with a trip to Aruba and all along he thought GVG was gay. Who knows what she told GVG about the boyfriend, but perhaps she gave him another set of tall tales. Perhaps he discovered some truth while they were in Aruba. It's a dangerous game to play ... thinking that she could have two realities, neither of them honest and that she could handle any problems that came up.

Clearly, she made a poor choice to travel with this man...that may be all she did "wrong."

So are you saying that models who have had breast implants are not really models at all but instead they are in the soft *advertiser censored* industry?

She had far more done than just breast implants.

Don't get me wrong.....no matter what she had done or didn't have done, and no matter what she did for a living or not......she is still a victim.
However, make no mistake, she was not a helpless young girl. She undoubtedly made some pretty poor decisions.

That's right: Robyn made the poor choice to travel with a man that she met online and didn't know well. It's not about whether or not Aruba is a safe travel destination for American tourists. Savvy travelers know how to keep themselves safe when they visit foreign venues and don't engage in risky behaviors that put them in harm's way. jmo

Absolutely. Her world includes lots of tattoos, lots of augmentation and plastic surgery, an acrimonious divorce after a 9 year marriage, an uncertain financial future at the age of 35, and a 50 year old wealthy man that seemed willing to share his wealth with her. Nancy Grace called Robyn a girl. It is something I've seen with CNN in the past ... reducing both victims and murderers to "little girls" in order to skew perceptions.

Re the picture posted pages back: that is NOT a deer mask, it is a jackalope mask... notice the bunny ears behind the horns. Jackalopes are mythical creatures that supposedly are to be feared because of their violent nature.

Elphaba,

That is very interesting information, never heard of that. I will look up more info on this, since this is about the "freakiest" thing I have ever seen. I know if anyone in my life ever showed up in this thing, I would be signing up for "Witness Protection" pronto! EWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!:loser::loser::loser:

Here are a couple of maps of the location where he claims they were snorkeling.

Thank you so much for posting this. My husband and I have been snorkeling at Baby Beach before and we stayed in the sheltered part, so it was strange to both of us that he would choose that spot to say the currents were strong and she was swept out to sea. We snorkeled all over the island and I would have thought other beaches were more likely spots for his story. But seeing where he claims they were, I suppose the currents would be stronger out there.

Yikes!!!! Add a flashlight under the chin of Mr. Jakalope Giordano, and you have a first rate "CreepFest", Hannibal Lechter would be proud of. Poor Robyn Gardner never had a chance in the states with this guy let alone God forsaken Aruba!!!

have a question--were any of these mines they are searching now looked at for Natalee Holloway?? Maybe this search will turn up some clues to Natalee's disappearance also!! Wishful thinking??

I can get on board that RF has his own unique brand of 'ick' about him, himself, but not so much the rest of it. First, his passport would be to say whether he was in Aruba or not. Secondly, if we go with a theory like this, that someone other than GVG actually harmed her, then you almost have to believe GVG's snorkeling story would be true....which would beg the question, when would RF have had a chance to 'confront her, when GG was not around', when RF stalked them to Baby Beach and GVG's head was stuck under the water for a minute, RF snatched her up and/or pushed her past the breakers....?

Not trying to be too critical of all theories here, anything is worth exploring, but we can't just isolate scenarios without taking into consideration all the disconnected players and stories that have the situation set up as it stands.

Now, if you thought GVG and RF were in it together, that may pose different possibilities. I personally can't see that as probable either, but at least somewhat possible.

Just think the whole case is strange, she seems to have really played men, and who is to say what happened, until someone gives a confession or she is found. But it could be anyone, her ex husband, RF or GG, maybe the ex husband saw her on match.com and decided to hire a low life to take her out, GG could be that low life, he has a past record. Who knows, just think the boyfriend is creepy also.. I don't discount anyone in this case, there are three of them to look closely at.

^respectfully bbm

See, that I can ponder a bit.

It's just that if this guy GVG were innocent and had she just 'disappeared' at the hands of someone else, or who knows what as far as he would be concerned, any other scenario other than a drowning, why make up a story about snorkeling? Who else may be in it is certainly worth pondering but with that scenario around her disappearance, tells me whether he's lying or not (I believe he is), he knows she's dead.

Check out this link, and then scroll about 1/3 down the page to where CE is telling a story about her encounter with Giordano. Don't know if she is for real or not.......

I read all of her posts. Something just seems off if you know what I mean.

Also both her and her daughter have dark hair and the daughter looks really young. She (daughter) is a dancer at Paper Moon Downtown which is a gentlemens club (logo on FB says Fun Fantasy and Excitement).

Nancy was trying too hard to "pretend" that Natalee and Robyn had something in common besides Aruba...it was kind of ridiculous, IMO. If she had vanished in Salt Lake City, she would have put Elizabeth Smart up there, as though this woman was taken out of her bed, innocently sleeping under the watch of mommy and daddy. Her sensationalism turns me off terribly and she only seems to want to focus on cases where there is a potential for sensationalism.

Can't wait to see what the FBI finds at his house. I suspect it will lead to his arrest for other crimes.

It is very unfortunate that people like Nancy Grace gave incorrect information about the circumstances of the disappearance. When she was told the "area near Baby Beach", she said Baby Beach and then went on and on about how no one could drown in that area. Facts make a big difference and talking heads that won't pay attention to facts are irresponsible.

In fact, a couple drowned in Baby Beach in 2006 ... presumably they were caught in the rough currents near the mouth of the lagoon.

Nancy Grace seems to be floundering around looking for a story since the end of the Anthony Show. It's such a relief to see a victim's family that refuses to turn their missing daughter/sister into Reality Crime Entertainment. Hopefully other families will follow.

The lips for sure. Of course, that doesn't matter in the crime, but as far as being a model? That would be a major strike against her that her lips are like something out of "Real Housewives" as a model.
