If, as I have been reading, almost no actual women paid to use the site, how many men had real affairs through the site? Sounds like most probably just tried to do so but probably did not actually have the chance. Jmo

A brilliant business plan, imo.

Moral of the story. Don't cheat.

Emails linked to Noel Biderman were exposed during second data dump

Email chains seemed to show attempted affairs with at least three women

Detailed relationship he had with Toronto student that involved payments

Jiminy Cricket! Color me surprised.

Yep, seems as if just about the only genuine female account holders were escorts, allowing for the 'guaranteed affair at a price' option.

Per CNN TV the CEO of Ashley Madison has stepped down.

I want to see the list and can not find it.

Why you ask??? Because there are certain people I feel for sure are on this...

What I discovered was that the world of Ashley Madison was a far more dystopian place than anyone had realized. This isn’t a debauched wonderland of men cheating on their wives. It isn’t even a sadscape of 31 million men competing to attract those 5.5 million women in the database. Instead, it’s like a science fictional future where every woman on Earth is dead, and some Dilbert-like engineer has replaced them with badly-designed robots.

Those millions of Ashley Madison men were paying to hook up with women who appeared to have created profiles and then simply disappeared. Were they cobbled together by bots and bored admins, or just user debris? Whatever the answer, the more I examined those 5.5 million female profiles, the more obvious it became that none of them had ever talked to men on the site, or even used the site at all after creating a profile. Actually, scratch that. As I’ll explain below, there’s a good chance that about 12,000 of the profiles out of millions belonged to actual, real women who were active users of Ashley Madison.

EXCLUSIVE: 'Ashley Madison' suicide cop killed himself after police-hating website CLAIMED his email address was among members even though it WASN'T actually on leaked list
Captain Michael Gorhum of San Antonio PD took his life after his official email address was published on a list of purported Ashley Madison users
Married 25-year veteran's colleagues also saw his name on anti-police website Cop Block
But Daily Mail Online can reveal his website is not in actual Ashley Madison leak and friends say it was 'inconceivable' he would have cheated
Cop Block's list was stuffed with obviously wrong emails and 'keyboard warrior' who runs it did nothing to verify information
Webmaster anarchist Adam Mueller expressed no regret for actions
Officer was mourned today by high school sweetheart wife - who said he had been stressed at work - and given full police honors for funeral

Ashley Madison CEO steps down in wake of hacking scandal two days after it is revealed he too used the site to have multiple affairs despite claims he never cheated on his wife
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3214336/Ashley-Madison-CEO-steps-wake-hacking.html

I'm confused. There have been claims that the vast majority of users on the site were men and that the likelihood of any man on the site actually cheating was slim because there weren't women on the site, just hopeful men. But now the CEO used the site to cheat.

So, what's the real story? Looks more like a prostitution ring than a site for discreet affairs.

jmo.

Yea a lot of cheating going on with NO WOMEN on the site..I call BS on that one. I think there were obviously plenty of women. This is the excuse to get cheated on women to think their spouses had no cheating opportunity. I actually came across a web site that was started prior to this huge leak where they were already setting up excuses to give their spouses...If there were no hook ups they'd have been out of business long ago.

Maybe the CEO had the capability/technology of knowing the "bots" from the "hots".....iykwim?

I had actually found the details on how to get the files but you had to get on the dark web to get it. I've since then lost the instructions but I'm sure they are still out there. If you have an email you can check that way, I checked mine out of curiosity but no one elses. I knew I had never signed up but wanted to check and see if I had been compromised..

This would make for the most excellent episode of Catfish. Twenty-million men showing up at Ashley Madison headquarters to meet a bunch of overworked AM employees:

"She claimed that she’d gotten repetitive stress injuries in her hands after the company hired her to create 1,000 fake profiles of women in three months, written in Portuguese, to attract a Brazilian audience. The case was settled out of court, and Ashley Madison claimed that the woman never made any fake profiles."

- About two-thirds of the men, or 20.2 million of them, had checked the messages in their accounts at least once. But only 1,492 women had ever checked their messages. It was a serious anomaly.

- Roughly 11 million men had engaged in chat [talking to bots?!], but only 2400 women had.

- This field contained the time when a member had last replied to a message from another person on Ashley Madison. 5.9 million men had done it, and only 9700 women had.

^From the gizmodo link. (Thanks Donjeta!)

Oh, these men.
