0:20 Some youths known to the family have voluntarily given DNA swabs and police may consider rolling the testing out further.... 0:20

So no suggestion that all the youths were tested in the first group and the accused may not have been one of the volunteers at all. :)

I was just going through all of sb9257's posts so I have found a post of hers that answers that question. <modsnip>

Blood DNA was definately found at the scene that belongs to the accused as her had several cuts on both of hands and he one he removed his long sleeves for police had many cuts bording on slashes on both of his arms predominantly below the elbow, with at least 2 of these being significant that they should have received medical attention and stitches had they occurred under other circumstances where there was no necessity to keep the injuries hidden. By the way that the police termed the statement re the DNA evidence they had of an unknown person they made it sound that there was a second DNA sample from another person they had not yet matched with anyone known to them. The accused voluntarily donated his DNA as part of the Police's request for all male youth in the town to come forward and provide a DNA sample to them voluntarily. Also they made it clear that the DNA was from a source unknown to them at that stage, they had at that time had DNA, clothes, shoes and car of the accused in their possession so it would be fair to assume based on the numerous contacts they had had with the accused at that time that it was someone else they were referring to by saying it was a source unknown to them.

WOW ... thanks for doing that, sounds like they knew it was him from the beginning when you read it again doesn't it.

Mrs Norris, not sure I believe that because I saw a video of the perp with handcuffs on, short sleeve, baseball cap on, and they blurred his face, but his arms looked clean.

^ can you find it? I only saw him in the back of the police car.

Yes the post that I can't find claimed that on separate occasions they allegedly took his shoes, then clothing and other items, then car and that he earlier volunteered his DNA yet he continued to go work whilst all this was happening as if nothing was wrong. Didn't attempt to run or act nervous or stressed.

Here's a couple of posts on the arms:

He had about 5 cuts to one hand and 3 to the other hand and he did wear long sleeves at work coz he was teased about it by the other blokes at work coz he wouldnt take his jumper of and it was hot in the shed. No one paid much attention to the cuts on his hands due to his job as they get cuts on their hands often. Once he had his jumper removed he apparently has cuts and slash marks on his arms also, which I did not see personally but my son in law and daughter did. He had just purchased a car from them not long prior, so he had been in their house even too which my daughter was a bit creeped out about.

He had a lot more than cut marks on his left arm he had 5 cuts on one hand another 3 on the other and both of his arms had cuts and slashes on them which he covered all week at work with a long jumper which he was teased about by his work colleagues as it was too hot in the shed to have a jumper on. Nobody paid much attention to the cuts on his hands as he was an apprentice motor mechanic and they hurt their hands regularly.

Yes I remember that one. He certainly seems to have kept his cool while all this was going on! He must be good at hiding those emotions, a normal person would be a nervous wreck even if they knew they were innocent I imagine.

I've been looking...his shirt was dark blue or black, they had his face smudged, and almost like a jacket partially covering his face, but his forearms were clear in view. I didn't see one scratch. I remember looking too. Dang, where did I see that, it was a few days ago.

I hate to mention this because no way I'll find it again. (laugh) The lead cop was interviewed, stated they will be there a few more days to tie up loose ends. I got the distinct impression they have loads of evidence and the case is solved in their mind.
