If Gary Kadwell was using anti-psychotic medication he eventually would have to stop if his supply of prescriptions run out .
Wonder if or how he dealt with changing out of his nocturnal mode ?

"Mr Felton was described in court as an odd and quiet person who did not have a job, stayed up all night on his computer and slept during the day.

He tried to ban Leela from seeing her grandparents, who would “poison her”, and had a psychological and controlling hold over Ms McDougall and Mr Popic, who were described as “avid followers” and “subservient”, despite the fact they were hard workers who provided the income he lived off."

"Mr Popic — and possibly Mr Kadwell — likely travelled under false names on trains to Kalgoorlie and Bunbury on the same week.

Their bank accounts were never accessed."

Ok, so from that, I don't put much weight into Popic not going to see his brother who lived close by. It seems as if that wasn't "allowed" per Gary's insanity.

Oh how I feel for Leela's grandparents. They lost a daughter and their granddaughter through his craziness. I hope for answers for them. Leela would be a little grown up now.

Did Gary have family in England?

Yeah, that.

Maybe the 3 did the suicide pact and Tony buried them because he couldnt stop them, but loved them enough to serve as their caretaker, final wishes and all... and then bailed. It would certainly justify pizza guy's testimony. But if I were Tony, no way would I run to my family, thats the first place LE would look, right?. Maybe he borrowed a page from GarySimon's book. Tony lived with him long enough to learn some tips and tricks about disappearing and/or assuming a new identity.

I'm glad you pointed this out because I first read it as Kadwell would bury the others then kill himself... (in that case I had no hope that we would ever get answers) but yes if Popic buried them it would make sense for him to not go to his family and I agree with you that he would know a thing or two about disappearing.

Cathy McDougall freezes every time she hears that police have found a body.
Every unidentified woman, every unknown child could be her daughter Chantelle, or her six-year-old granddaughter Leela, who went missing 10 years ago from the tiny timber town of Nannup, 200km south of Perth.
“Every time I hear that a body has been found, it’s so hard, my heart misses a beat,” she tells the Guardian.

The most agonising time was in 2015, when a long-decomposed child’s body was found in a suitcase dumped on a remote South Australian highway. It wasn’t Leela.
“Then there was that sighting of a girl in Rome, who spoke English, but didn’t know who she was. They thought it might be Leela, grown up,” she says.
“But it wasn’t.”
It was hoped a long-awaited inquest this week, into the suspected deaths of Chantelle McDougall, 27, and Leela, 6, together with McDougall’s partner (and Leela’s father) Simon Kadwell, 45, and their flatmate Tony Popic, 40, would solve one of Australia’s most mysterious missing person cases.

Instead, what emerged was a dark tale of a strange and controlling doomsday cult leader, international identify theft and a feared suicide pact.

Just before the disappearance, there were signs Kadwell’s false identity was about to be unveiled.

An aggrieved former boyfriend of McDougall tipped off local police that Kadwell might not be who he seemed. At a routine traffic stop, the police questioned him briefly. A few months later, the four were gone.

Do we know the boyfriend?

Good question!

I am guessing he would be somebody she knew from Melbourne? Somebody from her babysitting era, is my guess. GarySimon might have been all about multiple partners for himself, but I would imagine once he and Chantelle started dating or not long after she started babysitting, any former boyfriend would be soon out of the picture.

Seriously, how long would you date or know somebody before you told them about somebody new you were dating who might not be who he says he is? Is that casual conversation? Was she scared, or was she just young and chatty? Maybe they know each other for years before dating, grew up together?

It's possible. He clearly cared for her situation and he certainly didn't let it go. It seems as if he knew her for some time instead of dating her briefly and then moving on.

I definitely would like to know more about this guy, what he knew, how he knew etc.

What's the status of the Australian UID database, Bo?

I’m not sure how far the database has progressed since the ACIC’s latest announcement:

http://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2017-...throughs-in-missing-person-cold-cases/8947216

AFAIK individual case information won’t able to be searched by the public (like NamUs) — more’s the pity.

btw Dixie Peters was in Australia recently:

Thanks, Bo.These are great links. Sounds like they are making progress. I hadn't read an update since last year and it was not as encouraging. It's a huge job to be sure.

I'm going for this "aggrieved boyfriend" being much more recent. Clearly he knew they were in Nannup. And surely he wouldn't wait years to contact police, and local police in Nannup at that. I'm thinking it's a local. I'd stretch to Denmark, which might explain the move to Nannup, but any further back, and then Ms McDougall becomes a bit too young, and too strongly under Gary's spell IMO to of been interested in anyone else. However, it appeared that the spell had glitches during the stay in Nannup and she was venturing out on her own. Is this why SLaL was claiming that Simon wasn't who he claimed to be on the Cult forum? Maybe he only got the story he knew from McDougall herself?

"A “self-styled shaman”, he had taken a work colleague’s birth certificate, got a new UK passport and fled the country.
He began a new life, travelling through the US and India, where he met an Australian woman named Deborah in about 1993.
In an eery similarity to the current case, Deborah’s parents also reported their daughter missing, before tracing the couple to an Indian ashram."

This is why it's easy to imagine Kadwell going off and doing this all over again after taking the lives of McDougall, their daughter & Popic. Or living off the grid with them all under control to this day. He's a serial predator.

You think Sir LaL was hitting on Chantelle? Um, gross. Or do you think he was posing as the aggrieved boyfriend caller? Or maybe both?

Maybe she met someone at her Nannup Hotel job. GarySimon was jealous about that gig.

This is the latest from the inquest. https://www.theguardian.com/austral...e-just-vanish-odd-tales-emerge-in-nannup-case

In the inquest they, named two Canadian backpackers who were called Alex Fominoff and Kirk Helgason - who suicided after visiting with Kadwell/Felton in 2007.

Be interesting to hear from their families.
"She followed him from Australia to the UK, then back to Floreat, where she shared a house with him, Fleischer and McDougall."

Who is Fleischer ?

Dunno, probably not, maybe just like wasting all that effort into SLaL. But separation/divorce could be another reason for selling up the deer farm in 2006, possibly.

I see that pressure gradient on your map. Are east winds rare in July on the southwestern coast?
--------------------------------------
Calm offshore winds are rare with huge ocean swells on the southern west coast,
Noticeably seen in the synoptic charts from the 11-16 july , its probably irrelevant to the topic here, See here for synoptic maps :
"Indian Ocean MSLP Manual Analysis (from 1 December 1999)."
http://www.bom.gov.au/australia/charts/archive/index.shtml

Chilly Nights.
Fine weather with Cold Overnight temperatures throughout 13th ,14th ,15th ,16th .
It was a record low temperature,
Very cold day for perth .
"Lowest daily minimum (°C) 3.4 15/07/2007. 0.0††* Twice 1897 (record)
"Daily minima ranged from a cold 3.4°C on the 15th..."

http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/current/month/wa/archive/200707.perth.shtml

People would have needed to keep warm if they vacated the house . Its quite possible that Nannup and the surrounding area was even colder than perth too.
