Did Edward's Second Wife Know That He Was The Claremont Serial Killer?

Edward's second wife might not have known that he was the Claremont serial killer but she was suspicious about his behaviour.

In 2014—the year before she left him—Edward's second wife started taking notes on his bank statements because she was "sick and tired" of his lies.

She recalled rifling through his bank transactions after failing to find a statement covering the period of the final victim's murder.

When asked why she started taking notes on his bank transactions, Edward's ex-wife said their relationship "started to escalate" and that she "feared for her life", but was prevented from elaborating on the reason she was scared.

Claremont victims

Childcare worker Jane Rimmer, 23, lawyer Ciara Glennon, 27, and secretary Sarah Spiers, 18, were murdered after spending a night out in Claremont between 1996 and 1997.

Bradley Robert Edwards, a former Telstra employee, was jailed for life in September 2020 after being convicted of the murders of Ms Rimmer and Ms Glennon.

He was acquitted of the murder of Ms Spiers, whose remains have never been found.

Sarah Spiers

At just 18, Sarah Spiers was the youngest and first woman to go missing.

She was last seen leaving Claremont’s Club Bayview on January 27, 1996.

Ms Spiers had called a taxi from a public phone booth but was not there when it arrived just minutes later.

L-R: Sarah Spiers, Ciara Glennon and Jane Rimmer.

Jane Rimmer

Childcare worker Jane Rimmer had also been enjoying a night out with friends when she vanished from Claremont.

Ms Rimmer was last seen on security camera footage outside the Continental Hotel in the early hours of June 9, 1996.

The 23-year-old’s body was found in bushland in Wellard, 40km south of Claremont, on August 3 that year.

Ciara Glennon

The 27-year-old lawyer disappeared in 1997 after a night out with friends at the Continental in Claremont.

She was last seen making her own way home on March 14.

Her body was found 19 days later on April 3.

The remains of Ms Glennon were discovered 40km north of Claremont, in bushland near Eglinton.

The Claremont Murders is coming soon to Channel 7 and 7plus.

Daily Mail news article 01/07/2024:
What Claremont serial killer Bradley Edwards told cops when arrested

The cop who busted down the door when police arrested Claremont serial killer Bradley Robert Edwards has described the sex fiend's breathtaking reaction to finally being caught - and calmly asked officers: 'So what's this all about then?'

In October 2019, he pleaded guilty to five other charges related to sexual attacks upon an 18-year-old woman at Huntingdale in 1988 and a 17-year-old at Karrakatta cemetery in 1995.

In June 2020, after a seven-month trial, Justice Stephen Hill found Edwards guilty of murdering Ms Rimmer and Ms Glennon but not guilty of murdering Ms Spiers.

Justice Hill said it was more likely than not that Edwards had also killed Ms Spiers and in December 2020 sentenced him to life imprisonment with a 40-year minimum term.

Mr Bowler, who left the police force shortly after he helped arrest Edwards, said it had been satisfying to end his service by taking the Claremont serial killer down.

'I'd be amazed if anyone was willing to give him parole, ever, because you'd have to put your name to that one,' he said. 'So I don't think he'll be out.'
