I'm with Geoff now at Nicholson's B&G. He said, yes BRE was in the maintenance team and therefore be on the after hours call out list, for any jobs, even as far away as Mandurah. My old school friend said that being on that team and therefore on the call out list was very lucrative, and highly sought after.

And obviously being on call out meant that he always had the perfect alibi for extraneous nocturnal activities.

Thank you to Petedavo and Geoff,
Yes being on call out would be beneficial, money wise.

To think he was being paid at the time too!
Doubt it, as Telstra would probably check if he claimed overtime, but if you're leaving home at 10 pm and not returning till the next day, I bet no one at home would bat an eyelid if he said he was called out for a job.

That is interesting!. Would you know if being on the Maintenance team/roster meant he would have access to the exchange along stirling highway? quite a few threads ago there was discussion about access to these exchanges and someone stated that having after hours access would be impossible. There was mention that this particular exchange was being combed over quite extensively by WAPOL.

Yes. The maintenance team looked after problems at Exchanges.

I've been told it's usual for the exchanges to have a toilet and small sink. The exchanges would now be connected to the ministers sewer, however, would still had a septic system (disconnected but still in tact under the ground). Sometimes people flush items into the toilet. Also the exchanges would have lots of nooks and crannies to hide momentous.

Geoff told me decades ago that exchanges had a lunch room, some had microwaves and fridges. At kettle was always available at the minimum, depending on the size and age of the exchanges. His favourite was Cannington. He said that one was "luxury digs" Dunno what that meant, probably had a TV, but he did say it had drinks for sale in the fridge, presumably put on by the social club or the Maintenance Team I suppose :)
Of course some places, like the repeater station on top of Mt Dale had BBQs and running water as it was in a National Park Picnic spot.

That's excellent PeteDavo, thanks for that!

The telephone exchange buildings sound much like Dr Who's tardis. Small on the outside with a plethora of amenities inside. Like being home away from home.

Buzz Muzz buildings are much the same - next time, have a peak inside one.

We haven't heard from Spooks for a while, he usually types something or corrects me when I'm wrong.

He's gone quiet. Are you sick Spooks?

The kids went back to school today. Thank goodness they're not at home annoying me anymore.

I can spend more time now on my jigsaws and Websleuths.

Meanwhile some of us have kids still on school holidays, are immensely cherishing the precious time with them, socialising, eating fish and chips at the beach and attempting to go screen and CSK sleuthing free for a while.

I've checked with the State Records Office in Northbridge and they keep old copies of the Comment News. If a group of us were to go there we could check several years worth. There's probably an article or an early identikit. We could go there from 10am to 1pm checking through papers 1984 to 1995. We'd just need to skim through the titles. Take some small change for printing and train fare. The SRO is a short walk from Wellington St, Train Station.

The City of Gosnells only keep a few years worth of Comment News.

Would anyone be interested?

BFU, sounds great, the weather's wonderful have a great time.

it wouldn't be out of the realms of possibility for an official photographer to have attended Julie Cutler's final work function; did i read somewhere it was a presentation night?
... i'm curious as to whether any pics of Julie were taken on the night? i'd really like to see an image of her in the black evening gown.
i'm also curious as to whether she attended with anyone in particular, or whether she went solo.

Would have been around 2009. The woman had long, straight blonde hair. What she was wearing wasn't like normal attire. It was like something a Wiccan might wear

then she was probably just your average celebrating wiccan
;)
and when she looked at you?
she probably noticed you were looking at her
...and the chances are?
she probably thought "wtf's s/he looking at?"

i don't recall having ever seen any photo of Julie wearing her black evening dress, but i do seem to recall having read that the dress had a row of gold buttons on the shoulders (or sleeves?)
