It's possible the couple took her out of the house together (drugged her?) and then the wife came back later to clean up.

I agree, it's possible she was worried someone might have seen her and made this bit up. We know the cops have said the wife has made a formal statement. Did the cops drill her and she thinks they might know she went back so she changes her story so she can say "oh yeah I went back"

We need a motive if we are going to go down this route. Why would the neighbours want her dead? It would have to be something very terrible ...

I could be wrong but I thought it was Elisa rang her neighbour and asked her to come back because there was something she wanted to talk about... ?

The mobile phone may be gone but the phone logs and times would still be easily accessible to the police to verify who rang who and at what times through her phone provider...

AND really they had plenty of time ... the friend she watched the footy with left ... and then they could of had all that time to do whatever .... they could of even pretended to be EC texting.... IMO

In regards to motive I could guess something to do with sex - maybe they were swingers and tried it on with her and got rejected and they got embarrassed and then angry. She's missing and we don't have a body. I think it is murder.

The neighbour knew the marriage (EC and Mr C) was rocky and thought her hubby might be interested or suspected something was going on with EC

Coming out of lurkdom to say that a neighbour doesn't need to have an issue to do something completely unexpected. Some of you would remember Thomas Hemming and the Adamsons? No motive whatsoever. Just a completely random act.

He was also very busted, and left a giant mess. It's very possible. Anything is. But I always just try to stick to the most sensible scenario, the most likely statistically. Which keeps taking me back to suicide. Where there's murder there is mess. In this case there is zero mess.

Yes ... the Neighbour said she was fine, so why go check on her .... maybe she slipped her something in a drink and then went over to wait till she passed out ...easier to smother someone when unconscious ... but where's the body .... JMO or a far fetched theory

Anythings possible at this stage. Who knows your theory could be the one.

All this talk of murder, suicide and hauntings has got me spooked. I won't sleep tonight! :runaway:

Yes - Clean up, make the bed looked slept in ...

Maybe the neighbour who went back took the phone, so that Elisa had not way of getting help - I am writing this from a foul play perspective. MOO

They were socialising so there didn't seem any animosity.
Lots of stuff can happen between neighbours. Lots!

Smothering someone who is unconscious wouldn't be messy ....

And maybe there was flirting going on .... wife got Jealous

I've been thinking that if a phone tech pro were to offer a streamlined seminar, available to the public to learn of this type of thing... then s/he would be able to retire in style.

jmo!

Seats would be full of serial killers and Websleuths [emoji23]

Hi All...
What if?....AC found out about another woman? To me...this explains...
* Facebook deactivation
* Few drinks...( maybe melancholic)
* ' Personal issue' discussion
* Phone off
* Empty home upon return...quick to report
* Dog may have followed Her...so was 'missing'
* Husband's tv interview...when you want to say something...but can't...incriminating/remorse/self-responsibility

But yeah...the neighbours niggle me also

MOO

EC was drinking that night. According to many WSers, she was off the booze as she was an alcoholic. So the neighbour going back could have been to make sure she was safely in bed. She may have been upbeat, and safe in bed. But I've read many stories in this thread from people with experience with suicide who have said it can be really spontaneous. If she was in fact drunk, passed out, woke a few hours later, and suddenly got that horrible feeling of regret, then it is possible she did something drastic. She may have felt guilty for drinking, wondered how she could face her family hung over, been appalled with herself for allowing herself to have so many. Your brain just doesn't work as it should when it's affected by alcohol. She may just have thought, I can't beat this, I'm out.

This is my Occams Razor too. I think the phone is a red herring, it may have been just habit she took it with her, or she may not have wanted anyone to find it , or she may have taken it in case she changed her mind.

I don't find the neighbour suspicious, at first it seemed slightly odd, would still like to know if it was Elisa or husband who called her back, but I think she was just evasive to protect Elisa in case she was found alive.
I'm sure the police know the exact reasons for going back.
I think Elisa may have simply walked out into the sea and had planned it from the moment she had deleted her FB.
