Father of three children killed in house fire at Lalor Park may have been on drugs, police say

Police are alleging the father of the three deceased children, a 28-year-old man who legally cannot be named, locked the doors of the home and deliberately lit the fire.

Before Blacktown Court today, Police Prosecutor Sergeant Mohit Kumar submitted an application to test a hair follicle that was collected from the man when he was being transferred into police custody.

Police submitted a sworn affidavit from an officer as part of their application to the court.

"Police consider it is likely he was under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time [of the fire] and seek samples," Magistrate Brian van Zuylen said, reading from the police officer's sworn affidavit.

The court heard a photograph containing an ice pipe, paraphernalia used to smoke crystal methamphetamine, was also attached to their application.

“Fly high my angels, you are now safe’: Lalor Park fire victims laid to rest

A six-year-old boy his three-year-old brother and baby sister, just five-months-old, have been laid to rest, almost a month after their tragic deaths at Lalor Park.

Three children killed in a Lalor Park house fire have been farewelled in a moving funeral service today, after their father was charged with murder in what senior police described as “the worst case of filicide” in the state’s recent history.”

The Premier of NSW attended the funeral, and also Homicide Squad Commander, Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty.

He is already in jail, right? Why would she need to take out the AVO now....
Has there been any press regarding a diagnosed mental state.
This guy is crazy, as far as Im concerned... moo, moo.
Yes it is a bit odd. The AVO was previously listed on Lawlink for 11th July, also as a Mention. Perhaps it wasn’t heard on that day….. But then as you say seems unnecessary as he is in jail. Unless the more charges they can lay on him, the more dangerous he is proven to be when it comes time for his trial?

IMO

Let’s hope the new man she has in her life gives her and the children all the love and support they need. I noticed she is now in a relationship.

Is that right? I hadn’t heard that. Good for her, she deserves some happiness in her life after this terrible tragedy. I’m hoping her and the surviving children get all the help they need in processing and moving on from such an awful event.

Murder-accused dad back in court after fire killed kids

“The man accused of killing three of his children in a house fire he allegedly stopped them escaping will spend months more in custody before his case returns to court.

Lawyers for Dean John Heasman, 28, appeared in Penrith Local Court on Friday, three months after his children Jaxson, Dean Junior and Willow were killed in the blaze.

Heasman is facing three charges of domestic violence-related murder and five charges of attempted murder.

Heasman, who remains in custody, had his case swiftly adjourned with no application for bail.
He is due back in court on February 14 for charge certification.”
