A vacationing mother-of-three has vanished interstate without warning, leaving her family to work desperately with police who are trying to find her.

Julie, 48, was last seen in Streaky Bay, 700kms from Adelaide at the top of the Eyre Peninsula, at about 5pm on Sunday when she went for a walk on her own.

She was last seen wearing jeans, light-coloured boots, and a long-sleeved blue shirt with a large star on its chest.

Julie was on a holiday with her husband, Cliff, and the two had been travelling across South Australia's Eyre Peninsula.

Police have been working with SES, Polair and locals to try and find Julie, but thus far only one sighting has been reported since her disappearance.

The urgent search for a missing mother-of-three continues in South Australia, with emergency services expanding the search area.

Julie, who is from Queensland, was last seen about 5pm on Sunday May 7 in Streaky Bay after disappearing while on holiday with her husband in the state's Eyre Peninsula.

The search area has now been expanded to the area surrounding Streaky Bay airport after an exhaustive search of the town.

Julie's brother has journeyed from Queensland to Streaky Bay to help with the search and concerns for her welfare grow.

"It is pretty tough," Todd told 9News yesterday.

"The family is doing the best they can, trying to stay positive under the circumstances."

He said she has never disappeared before without explanation.

"Julie, if you're watching this, please come back. We love you and need you home," he said.

The search for missing Queensland woman, Julie has concluded for a fourth consecutive day.

Julie, 48, was last seen about 5pm on Sunday 7 May at Streaky Bay when holidaying with her husband Clifford. Julie and Clifford travelled from Queensland and are not familiar with the local area.

Julie is described as about 170cm tall with dark shoulder length hair. She was wearing jeans and a blue striped top with a star in the middle and light-coloured boots.

Police launched a search of the area on Sunday when the alarm was raised and have continued searching the local area for four days. The search utilised officers from SAPOL's STAR Group, Mounted Operations, Polair, State Tactical Response Group, Eyre Western Local Service Area, Country Fire Service (CFS) and State Emergency Service (SES).

Search efforts thus far have not located Julie and after consultation with the family, the resources dedicated to the search around Streaky Bay has been reduced but will continue over the following days using local Police and volunteers. Police will continue to investigate the matter as an ongoing missing person case.

Anyone who spots Julie or may have been in the Streaky Bay area at the time she went missing and possibly sighted her is asked to contact the police assistance line immediately on 131 444 (Reference: 114596).

Police cannot rule out that Julie may have received a ride to nearby towns and ask anyone in communities across the Eyre Peninsula who may have seen anyone matching the description or who has CCTV or dashcam footage to contact the police assistance line.

Police would like to thank the Streaky Bay Community and local farmers for their support during the search effort.

Police are releasing footage of missing person Julie last seen on Bay Road, Streaky Bay at 4.29pm on Sunday 7 May 2023.

''The brother of Queensland woman Julie Schutt is pleading for anyone with information on her whereabouts to come forward, four days after she went missing.''

''He described Ms Schutt as "very outgoing and very loveable".
"She's got heaps of friends and family that love her," he said.''

''We continue our doorknocks, going to homes and farmsteads on the southern end of Streaky Bay as well," he said.

"If she has managed to get a lift with someone, she may have turned up to Elliston in the south, Ceduna in the west or Poochera in the north.
"I think it's great people are contacting us, it shows people are interested, people do care."

A Queensland man is bewildered by his wife's disappearance on South Australia's west coast, as a fifth day of searching fails to find any sign of her.

Clifford Schutt described his wife Julie of 25 years as a kind woman full of love for her friends and family, and says he desperately wants to find her.

"I'm very up and down and moments of falling apart and just numb and then it's all bits and pieces," he told 9News.

The couple were on a South Australian road trip and arrived at Streaky Bay on Sunday afternoon.

Clifford said he went out to pick up some dinner menus and when he got back she was gone.

[...]

"It's just completely bewildering why she... yeah we just.. don't know what's happened."

Clifford described his wife as soft and kind, and as a woman is always willing to help in their rural community.

They have three sons together, one of whom is still in high school.

Today, police, the CFS and SEs crews have today turned their attention to farmland surrounding the Streaky Bay township, speaking with property owners and searching their sheds.

However, there is still no sign of Julie.

Police are searching farm outbuildings in a desperate bid to find a missing mother who vanished while on holiday with her husband.

Julie Schutt, 48, was on a road trip with husband Cliff when she went missing from Streaky Bay, SA, on Sunday.

Cliff said he went out to get some dinner menus but when he came back she was gone.

I hope she will be found safe soon. There must be no other footage of her. Is it a really small town?

Streaky Bay has a population of only about 2,000 people. It is a remote community, situated on the Great Australian Bight, and far from any city or large township. People might go there for the extreme beauty of the rugged coastline, the fishing, the whale watching.

I have been following this case off-thread, as it is in my home state.

The police didn't release anyone's surnames. Not Julie's, or her husband's, or her brother's last names. It was "Julie" is missing, hubby "Cliff", brother "Todd". Then yesterday or so Julie's surname started appearing in MSM.

The police also said, early on, that they would be releasing no details about Julie. Other than info that can identify her.

Which all made me very puzzled. She was not classified as endangered missing (medical condition, suicidal). And she apparently left all of her belongings at their holiday accommodation.

"An SA Police statement said the search was now scaling back in the Streaky Bay area where the 48-year-old, identified only as Julie, was last seen.

Julie’s brother Todd said she was on a holiday with her husband Cliff, and had first travelled to Darwin before arriving on the Eyre Peninsula.

“They went to Ayers Rock, then travelled down here, and they were going to see a lot of the country side,” Todd told 7 News.

She did not have personal belongings with her, apart from what she was last seen wearing.

I would guess that the CCTV footage was taken from a camera outside Beck's IGA in Streaky Bay. I can see they have a couple of cameras outside, one pointing in each direction.

When I follow that road in the direction that Julie seemed to be walking, it does lead out of town. Not to the scenic lookout points, or the jetty.

She may have then passed a Sip N Save, a pizza shop and a Shell service station - which may have been open at dinner time.
