Hmmm …. he had a bit of a strange look-down pause when he was asked if Sarah’s situation motivated him to catch the killer. Then he said yes … it’s the truth that motivates them.

They have isolated less than 20 cars that would be similar to the Black Car driven over Diggers Rest Railway Track.

Inspector Tim Day mentioned they had obtained the Diggers Rest footage a while prior to this release.

The release of the car footage comes at a time where they selected the closest working day/weekend (2 weeks in advance) before the anniversary of Karen's death/dissappearance.

With video surveillance obtained from Toolern Vale in August 2016, it is possible that footage from Diggers Rest Train Station was obtained around this time. (9 months they could have had this video.) Inspector Tim Day was reluctant to release dates of video obtained. My concern is that if the video was released earlier there could have been a better response from the public to remember if the Black Car was travelling behind them.

Very interesting press conference by DI Day. What I found very interesting was not what he said but what he didn't say and what he didn't confirm or deny.

I immediately thought of VR when I saw the Nissan Patrol in the cctv of the other cars.
Vr has a nissan patrol in this pic. It has a tyre on the back but is a different colour to the one in the cctv footage and does not have roof rails. I am still not eliminating him as an accomplice of some type though.

Yep you're right Oona Not his car, yeah I can't rule him out as being involved in one way or another.

Way back I suggested that maybe Sarah had a fight with her Mother and it resulted in an accidental death. He didn't seem to me to have a "I want to solve this for Sarah" look way about him when asked about her.

I think the party or parties involved in this best start getting their affairs in order the police are closing in.

I would think the police have done all they can to get a closer look to whole was driving Karen's car. I know Borce is short, but it looked like a small person driving that car.

How hard would it be to track all the SLK Mercedes in Victoria considering the registration includes the owners name, address, make of vehicle, chassis type, vin and sale records.

That's exactly what is going through my head. And as I keep saying, this is purely a publicity stunt to give the appearance that VICPOL is doing something a year after the incident.

They would have already come up with the lists of names, cars and addresses. The other intention of the release is a supporting witness of one of the other cars. Which i feel is long gone due to timing.

Could it be to put pressure on someone that they feel is starting to show signs of cracking?

I think they would have had this video footage before they started tracking the owners of the same vehicle. They needed to track down the owners and find out if they were driving in the Diggers Rest area on that day and at that time.

Here is that look-away look (the asking journo is in the opposite direction to where he is looking) and pause before Tim Day answered the question about Sarah being a motivation to solve the crime. Then he said it is a motivation, but the truth is the motivation.

Do you suspect this might be a clue to SR's involvement?
He was pretty apathetic/un-informative in regards to most questions.

I think he is saying/thinking that Sarah is a liar ... or, at least, withholding the truth of what she knows.

I also suspect the journo's question was to see what his response would be like. People often divert their eyes and pause when they are thinking of an adequate reply. There was no smooth response to the question.

A 2004 Vehicle could also be unregistered with no current details. It's possible to sell an unregistered vehicle without any paper trail.

Vic roads would have records of previous owners and all they would have to say is they sold it and don't know who to.

Can you do that in Vic?

In SA the rego details paper tears in half, you as a the previous owner have to get the new owner to fill out their details and you have to present that to services sa within a certain amount of time.
