He had also sent her a text saying he was going to kill himself
“When I first saw that Karen was missing, I initially felt guilt, thinking my call to her may have had something to do with it,” he wrote.
“I’m now a bit angry because if my father had addressed the *situations with Karen, maybe this wouldn’t have happened. *Although I’ve had some serious *issues with Karen, she was always there for me, had a genuine interest in my welfare and was like my best friend.”

BBM - That's a bit of a turn around isn't it.

The article also confirms the "leaving when Sarah is 21" was said at the time he lived there, i.e. well before her 21st birthday.

He also has some positive things to say about Karen

He had also sent her a text saying he was going to kill himself, according to the statement.
“When I first saw that Karen was missing, I initially felt guilt, thinking my call to her may have had something to
do with it,” he wrote.
“I’m now a bit angry because if my father had addressed the situations with Karen, maybe this wouldn’t have
happened. Although I’ve had some serious issues with Karen, she was always there for me, had a genuine
interest in my welfare and was like my best friend.”

Does anyone else think someone helped AR with that language? Thinking the police paraphrased his comments for him to sign because "genuine interest in my welfare" doesn't seem like the words he would use.

I have only given a police report once for a car accident and it was the police officer writing it down and there was one sentence that made one definite statement a bit more loosey goosey (in my favour) and when I pointed it out she said not to worry about it ... so I am going to assume they have condensed his informal verbal style for the police report.

What is also interesting is that he only fully left the home 5 years ago.

Very messy sad situation.

I'm officially sick to death of 'the stepsons' 15 minutes.

He's added a few deets to his story, like pulling a dramatic suicide threat by text, as well as the idea that he stayed in the house until he was 27.

27!!!!!?????

Dear god.

Yeah, that definitely sounds like he has had some help with that language. This "best friend" thing is completely out of left field however, if any of his allegations are true, there are often weird loyalties and dynamics between parties. But in this case my hunch is that this is all just a way for him to get a bit of attention.

Oh, so now Karen was his best friend? This boy/man is a master spin Dr.

Your comment regarding "weird loyalties and dynamics" is true IMO.

Hope its ok...heres a link for anyone who might find themselves in a similar situation as this scenaro....particularly where someone may have passed ... or in this case is missing...ie; no opportunity for closure.

The stepson of missing Melbourne mother Karen Ristevski told police she may have just run off rather than be murdered and claims she had a dysfunctional family.
Mrs Ristevski, 47, was last seen six weeks ago leaving her home at Avondale Heights home in Melbourne's north-west after having a heated discussion with her husband Borce over finances.
Her stepson Anthony Rickard, who is fighting an ice addition, made a statement to police last month claiming that Mrs Ristevski's relationship with his father was strained.
He added this week that he thought Mrs Ristevski had fled and did not believe his father had anything to do with her disappearance, The Australian reports.

I agree AR had assistance with the language used in his statement.
Can't see the police happily waiting a month before AR gives them the next instalment.

I know this is not whats happening here, but if were a thriller novel:

The outcome could be the media makes the unholy mistake of publishing the accusations in their entirety ...... she returns from a "time out" sues the media for defamation.... as the accuser retracts his statement and blames the media for taking advantage of a known fragile state.

I think the media need to be very carefull with what they devuldge.

It doesn't take a genius to read between the lines and figure out what he's on about.

So if he thinks she has run off, and they were like best friends, where does he think she has gone?
I am sure the police would like to check that out and close this case, if Karen has just run off.

Yes that's for sure ..... can you imagine if he retracted it and said hey...I was just blowing wind up you all ..hey I did say I had an ICE addiction...

It would end up a massive $$$ payday ....

Well the finacial problems would be solved then I guess.....

All fanciful on my part ...

Yes the only having fully left 5 years ago is curious.

In the article it also says he was sentenced to 14 months jail in September 2014 for various things, one being pulling a weapon on someone.

So he's not long been out of prison.

It also states that he and his father reconnected through prison visits ....... Now I'm getting a better picture of Borce...... a man that has taken back in at least 4 times a troubled son.

So the son has a history of antisocial behaviour. .. a history of violence .... Mmmmm

The statement said that Mr Rickard, a father of two, was sentenced to prison in September 2014 for “various things”, which The Australian understands *includes pulling a weapon on someone. He spent 15 months in jail, and said he reconnected with his father through prison visits.

15 months in jail, sentenced September 2014, yet only left the house 5 years ago? They weren't exactly 'estranged' for long. As usual his story makes no sense and is increasing in sensationalism. He must be finding it harder and harder to get buyers for these tales of woe and pure lies. I don't know what parts I believe and don't, but he's largely full of it, I can tell that much.

Boris should have let him rot.

So thats where the 'I'm not a jailbird" came in, during his first interview.

Most would have had an educated guess that he been inside.

Ar hasn't really commented on his relationship with VR or his family?

I wonder If Borce went alone to visit AR while he was inside.

Thoughts?

If both knew dodgy types that doesn't mean much in shady old Melbourne IMO.
