My opinion only ... if the Chinese govt want to find him, they will find him.

I am not sure how good or bad our diplomatic relationship is with China at the moment. I suspect it is more about improved diplomacy, as to why our police are not naming him. In other words, if we act diplomatic maybe the Chinese govt will look for him and let us bring him back to Australia.

I think China might do that only because they wouldn't want him to be around their people either.

Then again, they might just 'disappear' him and be done with it, to avoid the hassle.

Hopefully he is not the son or relative of a wealthy, influential person. I only wonder if he comes from money because he was able to come to Australia for holidays and to study.

Although they say that he did work here as an itinerant worker (presumably a working holiday), so maybe he comes from a middle class family.

China doesn't allow extradition of its citizens.

I have found a Chinese language report. There is a name, a "deleted" Facebook page, and even a "motive". Looks like the details have been circulating in Chinese language social media since late September..

All MOO since it cannot be verified and cannot be published.. thus not fact..
 

Colleague reveals that Chinese man accused of pouring coffee on baby in Brisbane had ‘brain issues’​

“The man suspected of throwing hot coffee on a baby allegedly had “brain issues” and was out for revenge when he attacked, it has been claimed.

Chinese media has now reported that the man had been on various visas since arriving in Australia in 2019, first using a working holiday visa and then switching to a student visa.

He has lived in a number of locations on Australia’s east coast and previously worked in a meat processing plant.

However when his most recent visa application was rejected the suspect was reportedly furious and he allegedly sought to take out his anger on baby Luka.

“Finally, he vented his anger and [allegedly] hurt a baby before leaving Australia,” reported China’s New Tang Dynasty Television.”

It seems he was juggling visas for 5 years.

I thought a student visa means enrolling into some kind of educational institution.

But maybe he did.
Some English language school/course for foreigners.

So...
Shattered "Australian Dream" seems to be a motive.

Anger/frustration/rage/poor impulse control/collecting injustices/ revenge, etc, etc.

Poor Baby paid for all these :(

Yes all of this, except that News stop at naming him.

I thought last night that it's just a matter of time before local media leaks the story to the public. Turns out that time is just a few hours.

The reports do not say where he currently is though. Being a Chinese national born in Hangzhou, doesn't mean he's there now.

I predict QPS will name him today. It’s going to look real embarrassing if MSM reports his name before law enforcement does. MOO.

The baby’s mum must be absolutely furious to read the latest news.com article and know that information did not come from her police liaison officer, but originated from Chinese media. IMO

A meat processing facility is often referred to as a slaughterhouse or an abattoir. An abattoir may have holding yards with live animals, as well as a kill floor (slaughter room), refrigerated processing rooms, plus packaging and dispatch areas.

I think it probably doesn't really matter if they don't name him here. It is not like anyone in Australia is going to find him.
It sounds as if we need to maintain diplomacy and rely on assistance from the Chinese govt, if he is in China or Hong Kong.

Even with millions of people living in India, the Indian police were able to find Toyah Cordingley's alleged killer who had fled to India.

Same in South Korea, where the NZ police were able to have an alleged killer (the mum of the two children found in suitcases) brought back to NZ. They didn't release her name either for a very long time. I think it was after they managed to get her back to NZ IIRC.
