ACTIVE SEARCH Australia. Man wanted after pouring hot coffee on baby in park, Brisbane, Queensland. 27th August 2024

But I wonder what's the evidence chain that the man who was running around Brisbane is the same person as the man who flew out of Sydney. Not just someone who looks rather like him and perhaps doesn't have a strong alibi that he wasn't in Brisbane at the time of the attack.

Will be interesting to know this at some point in the future.
We know that various intelligence officers were involved in the search for the man.

Yes JLZ it could be his passport travelling around.

This case has some very strange undercurrents.

At our airports, the Smart Gates that we all have to proceed through (internationally) check us against the photo and biometrics contained in the microchip embedded in our passports.

This is for the Chinese passports, but all/most countries passports are now like this:
The face, fingerprints, and other biometric features of the passport holder is digitized and stored in pre-installed contactless smart chip,
Chinese passport

Following his recent release from hospital, Luka returned to the park with his parents and older sister on Thursday, where he happily played on the swings and slippery slide.

'We can't believe how well he's doing. He's so happy and he's hitting all his milestones.'

Four weeks on, he has since turned 10-months-old and received a junior police uniform from detectives investigating his case to celebrate the milestone.

'We need to balance our investigative strategies with the need for the community to know what's going,' acting commissioner Shane Chelepy said.

Huge milestone for baby who had coffee poured over him by a stranger

They'll probably end up letting that guy off and say he's a mental health case.

This case seems to me
a typical, although extreme,
example of
(what psychology calls)
"Displaced Aggression"

It happens when someone transfers their frustration or anger to someone or something other than what triggers the feeling.

He started from a lowly job in a meat processing factory,
probably hoping for better prospects and life in Australia.

But after 5 years
his visa was denied and his Australian Dream shattered.

Of course
I'm not justifying him and his crime.
But trying to understand the mechanism of it.

Hopefully Luka is young enough that he will not remember this when he grows up.
Unfortunately traumatic memory can be stuck in the body without you having conscious memory of it. Too complicated a topic for me to give a link, so I'll just say MOO. Maybe reading up on 'implicit memory' will help understand.

I hope this little guy is given some form of treatment for pre-verbal trauma, at the lastest if and when symptoms crop up. JMO

The fact that he's been to the park where it happened and went on the play equipment is a really good sign however, maybe also a form of therapy - NOT avoiding the location. MOO

Yes, I was wondering if some therapeutic advice has been given.

'The police are your friends' - the gift of the little uniform
'The park can be a very happy place' - return and have fun on the swings with your sister and parents

imo

Wait.. has the suspect been identified?

When his latest application for a visa was rejected, he did what so many in China do … lashed out and took revenge on society by attacking a child,” Mr Sterzel said in a YouTube video.

“He even said to his friend that he wanted to take revenge on white people.”

So what will China do in this circumstance? I don't think they want all the bad press that would come with him being sent back to Australia to be prosecuted there. I think China would rather sweep it under the rug---they might prefer to quietly deal with the issue themselves, behind closed doors.
Some countries will not extradite their own citizens from their home country to face charges overseas. But most have a court process to consider the merits of an application. Australia does not extradite to China due to various concerns (easy explainer here: Explainer: why the government ‘pulled’ Australia’s extradition treaty with China). With no formal treaty that lays down simplified steps to be followed, there could be a lengthy court process with no guarantee of a successful application for the man to be returned to Australia to face trial.

Yes it's been reported he was identified and named in Chinese media a few weeks ago.
