I saw one of the hostages put up 10 and then moved her fingers 3 emphatically...so that meant 30? Did anybody else see that?

Oh wow, no I didn't see that! It could mean 13 or 30, my own guess would be 13. I would think if it were 30 she would flash 10 fingers 3 times? Heck I don't know.

Craig Stoker was walking down Phillip Street after buying a coffee in the Lindt Cafe when he bumped into the gunman.

“He was wearing a black T-shirt with white writing on it and a headband and carrying a blue bag.

“The bag bumped into me and there was something hard in it

“I said ‘watch where you are *advertiser censored**ing going’.

“He turned round and said ‘do you want me to shoot you too?.’ I looked into his eyes and they were crazy,” said Mr Stoker, a father of four from Eastlakes. “I was pretty freaked out.”

The bearded man was with two others who were similarly dressed.

I don't want to live in a world where you can't even be safe in a chocolate store at Christmas but nor do I want to live in a world where people speak to each other in this manner when one accidentally bumps into another. Yikes.

Sorry if it has already been repeated. Three hostages have either been released or escaped.

Massive thanks to all who've kept this thread updated all day. I missed a lot of the news as it broke.

Love to all our Aussies and OS friends here.

Let's hope the rest of the hostages make it out whole, eh. Kudos to the negotiators there.

7 just replayed the 3 hostages running out. 2 at once, then one alone (different door?. All male.

My heart is in my throat... Please let there be more escaping!!

I wonder why this small group of hostages were allowed to leave. Could it be that they are Muslim? Usually in these Jihad attacks the Jihadists separate the Muslims from non-Muslims and allow them to leave.

Gina, I couldn't agree more!

Woo hoo! It's a start. Hoping for more good news soon!

I wonder if they were allowed out or escaped or were in the fire escape the
Whole time?
