Have they pinged the last location that her phone was active at all? It's a bit concerning that she hasn't used her phone since. Have they searched down river fron there at all?

A massive area of bushland near Nabowla, north-east of Launceston, has become the focus of a new search for missing Tasmanian teen Shyanne-Lee Tatnell.

About 160 police officers and SES personnel are taking part in the search of 50 square kilometres of bushland, as well as a separate search of the North Esk River, near where Miss Tatnell disappeared.

It has become the largest-ever police search conducted in northern Tasmania.

  • In short: A large search operation, involving around 160 police and SES personnel, is scouring bushland in Tasmania's north-east for a 14-year-old girl missing since late April
  • What's next? Tasmania Police say they made no breakthroughs in the search today but will continue searching the 50 square kilometre area near Nabowla until at least Friday
Tasmania Police say they were acting on a tip-off from the public when they launched a massive search near Nabowla, in Tasmania's north-east, for missing teenager Shyanne-Lee Tatnell.

There's a Mercury article, but I can't read it because I'm not a subscriber, perhaps someone else on here is.

I can't even properly link to it, because every time I click on it, it takes me to the 'subscribe' page.

But, yeah, there's a Mercury article. Sorry.

From the link:

Commander Chambers said a crime scene had been declared at a property at Scottsdale as well as the scene near Nabowla, and extensive forensic examinations were being conducted.

"Police are following a specific line of inquiry, however no charges have been laid at this stage," Commander Chambers said.

I hate to say it, but this is looking like an abduction/rape/murder.

I feel horrible, but I wish that I'd been right about her being in the river. I don't wish suicide on anyone, especially a child, but a jump from a bridge into cold water at night in autumn might have been so much more merciful than what I fear we're going to learn in the next days and weeks.

I'm so sorry, Shyanne.

MOO

  • ''In short: Almost three months after the disappearance of a 14-year-old from a Launceston street, suspected human remains have been found in bushland near a rural township in Tasmania's north-east
  • What's next? Police say the remains will be forensically tested and they are "following a specific line of inquiry", however, no-one has been charged at this stage. A press conference is scheduled for midday Thursday
Police have found suspected human remains in bushland in Tasmania's north-east and declared a crime scene at a separate property during the search for missing teen Shyanne-Lee Tatnell.

The discovery was made on a "bush track" during an extensive ground and air search on Wednesday relating to the 14-year-old, who was last seen in Launceston almost three months ago.''

It's sad, if there was a "criminal element" they must of been fully aware of what Tasmanian Devils would do. For international folks, devils are extinct on the mainland so it changes the forensics.

EDIT: bad grammar

ARREST!

Tasmania Police have arrested a 36-year-old Scottsdale man in relation to the disappearance of teenager Shyanne-Lee Tatnell.

Police Northern District Commander Kate Chambers said the man was arrested in Launceston a short time ago but no charges had been laid.
