She was an accomplished young woman. She was studying for her Masters degree here in Australia:

Enrolled at Griffith University as a full-time student, reading for a Master Degree in International Business

That website also shows that she was seeking work as a cleaner to support her studies. Just like Eunji Ban who was also killed in Brisbane

It says on this jobseeker website that Sophie spoke English, French, German and Spanish.

She describes herself as motivated and dynamic.

She sounds like an amazing young woman.

I am SO sorry this happened to you Sophie.......

Dear Sophie, In the arms of the Angels

sending love to all family and friends xx :grouphug:

Boris had left Ms Collombet behind in Australia only a month earlier after his visa ran out.

The pair reportedly were heartbroken to be separated, a close friend told the Courier-Mail, but Ms Collombet had been planning to move back to France to be with him in June.

That was when she was due to complete her masters in international business at Griffith University.

Friends of the couple last night told The Courier-Mail that Boris gave police the vital lead after they pleaded with the public on Sunday to come forward if they noticed a missing friend, relative or colleague.

Close friend Roselyne Trott said Ms Collombet’s mother in France had been growing more worried over the weekend after she was unable to contact her daughter.

“They had heard there was a murder in Brisbane and they were thinking if it was Sophie,” she said.
‘It was difficult for them to say goodbye ... they were in love’, says Brisbane friend of murdered French student Sophie Collombet

DETECTIVES are scrambling to piece together the missing final hours of murdered French student Sophie Collombet.

CCTV footage shows the 21-year-old walking alone through South Bank between 2am and 3am last Friday.

Just hours later her battered, naked body was found near the William Jolly Bridge, within sight of her city apartment on the other side of the Brisbane River.

Her brother, Guillaume Collombet, last night said from his home in France that the family was in shock at the loss of their “beautiful” girl.

This is so sad....and if any of her family or friends are reading this, just want to say how sorry I am...........Australians are mostly good, friendly, down to earth people..........and I am saddened that this type of thing is happening more often in our once beautiful, safe country...........I hope the police catch this , and just to add, what the heck is going on in Brisbane for this to happen again..............does anyone think there are those that might be targeting foreign students?

Thanks for that photo, enzeder :seeya:

Where she was left seems very open and public IMO - there's a walking path right there! How did someone do something this brazen in such a public spot and nobody see??!

The brashness scares me......whoever did this seems very cocky to have either attacked her there or transported her body to such an obvious place. JMO.:scared:

BBM. Yes revampz - I had been wondering if there are people deliberately targeting foreign students. But it seems that the separate crimes have been perpetrated by different people and for different reasons....

Let's see what emerges in poor Sophie's case. I pray they catch the person that did this - and quickly!! :please:

Coincidence?? :jail:

Coincidence?? :jail:

That guy was on a mission to do harm and is now locked up. I can't see a coincidence except for the area being the same - high density accommodation with proximity to parks and a large international population doing shift work. Brisbane is a cross between a big country Town and an international City, which may lull young foreigners into a false sense of security.

Let's hope they catch this guy as quickly as they caught Alex McEwan.....:please:

I wonder if Sophie caught a train/bus from South Bank to the stop at Kurilpa Point Park then walked across the pedestrian bridge leading into the area where she was murdered?. Did her killer follow her on her journey home or was he lurking in the park?.

Just looking around to see what students might be doing on a Thursday night in Brisbane, to place Sophie coming home in the early hours (even though we know she was a hard worker - everyone needs to let off steam occasionally.

Here is an example http://spectrumbar.com.au

Conveniently located in the city, the Embassy Hotel is the place to go on a Thursday night. With free entry, cheap drink cards and many DJ competitions, it makes for a cheery night out - not to mention you will be guaranteed to be in some happy snaps, thanks to the resident photographer. The best thing about the Embassy is that if you aren't having fun, you can always go other bars in the city, which may also have events on a Thursday.

I can also see on facebook that one of her brothers (Lionel) has been over to QLD end of last year and seems to like death metal (Sophie's skull ring).
